The latest Mortal Kombat 1 update adds Mavado to the roster of Kameo fighters and fixes several issues with the game experience and the moves of some fighters. Mavado joins Mortal Kombat 1 shortly after Ermac. Both fighters are available to players who own Kombat Pack 1 or the game's Premium Edition, but it's also possible to purchase them separately.

NetherRealm has given players an official first look at The Boys’ Homelander in action in Mortal Kombat 1.

Today, NVIDIA announced that the upcoming tactical first-person shooter game Gray Zone Warfare will support DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) from day one, accelerating performance on GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards. Mortal Kombat 1 is set to have a DLC update in just a few days bringing a new character to the game. The update is bringing Ermac to the game as a playable character. Last week some gameplay was released showing Ermac and other features. The character will be available for everyone on April 23.

One of my favourite things about writing about MORTAL KOMBAT 1 is that my laptop has decided that the words MORTAL KOMBAT must be capitalised at all times. One of the best things about Mortal Kombat games, and one of the main things that sets it apart from other famous fighting series, is its brutal fatalities. Finishing cinematics characters deploy to confirm they have won the match. Whether it be ripping out an opponent's spine, skull still attached, or freezing them solid so they can be shattered into a thousand pieces, there have been some very cool fatalities over the years, pun very much intended. Some of them will return for Mortal Kombat 1, including a fan favorite courtesy of Cyrax.

Like in every fighting game, mirror matches have always been possible in Mortal Kombat. This got a little more complicated in Mortal Kombat X though, as all characters had unique pre-fight banter with each other. This meant that the writers had to come up with semi-logical reasons for each character to be beating themselves up, whether they be evil clones or versions of themself from a different timeline.

You could chalk up Mortal Kombat’s massive success as a fighting game franchise to a number of factors: It’s 30-year legacy, its attention-grabbing and unparalleled violence, its beloved roster of characters, its deep fighting mechanics, the list goes on. But I’d argue that one of the most important elements of Mortal Kombat’s success, especially since Mortal Kombat 9, has been its single player offerings, which is one thing that we haven’t really seen out of the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1. Until now, that is. At a recent event, I got to go hands-on with the first chapter of Mortal Kombat 1’s cinematic story mode, as well as its brand-new Invasion mode, and my early impressions are that NetherRealm doesn’t seem to be loosening its grip on the crown as the king of fighting game single-player modes just yet.

Mortal Kombat 1 has already given fans a lot to get excited about. Whether you're a Mileena stan or a hardcore 3D-era defender, MK1 has something for everyone. Well, as long as you're not a cyber ninja fan. Sektor and Cyrax are in the game, but so far, they're reduced to Kameo fighters, not playable in their own right.

Mortal Kombat 1 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on Sept. 19, but some MK fans will be able to play it a month early, thanks to a four-day beta test coming this August.
