A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered cutscenes that are meant to be released alongside season two of Invasions, and they confirm that it'll focus on Nitara, as well as potentially introduce vampire skins for the roster.
Since Mortal Kombat 1 launched, Invasions hasn't quite been the show-stopping new single-player mode that many hoped for, with its first season not exactly getting the best reputation. One of the complaints that some players have had about it is that the first theme simply isn't that interesting, aside from Scorpion's killer new look. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long until the mode's next season, which seems like it'll be a big step-up.

For some time now, we've known that the second Invasions season is going to be based on Nitara and themed around blood, but thanks to dataminer Interloko, we now have an even clearer look at what season two is going to be all about. Over on YouTube, Interloko shared the season's cutscenes, which explain what's going on with this version of Nitara and seemingly gives us a hint at what the skins for the season will be.
The first cutscene explains that the Nitara that players will be going up against is from a timeline where Vaeternians rule and that they "mobilised for war" when they discovered that other timelines exist, which explains the invasion. According to Liu Kang, they are aiming to liberate every timeline's vampires and let them take over.
Although it's interesting to finally hear more about Vaeternians in Mortal Kombat 1, the highlight of the leak is the post-fight cutscene that presumably plays when you beat Nitara. It's revealed that many of Earthrealm's champions were bitten by Vaeternians and seemingly turned into vampires in the process, as showcased by creepy-looking versions of Smoke, Kung Lao, and Kitana.
In the season's ending, we see that Liu Kang cured everyone of their vampirism by taking them to a timeline where Vaeternians aren't evil and are willing to reverse the bite. Interestingly, this seems to imply that it's actually the main cast of Earthrealmers who were turned into vampires and that Invasions is actually canon in some way.
As pointed out by Redditor LittleMcAttack on the Mortalkombatleaks subreddit, this leaked video also seems to give us our first look at the season's unique skins. Scorpion's season gave everyone red and orange coloured outfits with tattoos as the seasonal skins, and the ending cutscene for Nitara's season makes it seem likely that it'll be vampire variants this time around, as it's clearly part of the plot. If true, this already seems like a massive improvement over the first season, so let's hope it's what comes to pass instead of
