Despite its rough early access launch last week, Moon Studios has worked extensively to improve No Rest for the Wicked. The Souls-like action RPG has garnered some positive impressions, though – check them out in the trailer below.

Publisher Bushiroad Games and developer Eighting have launched the official website for Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, revealing details on playable characters Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, Hisoka, and Netereo, as well as the battle system. New screenshots and character trailers for Gon, Killua, and Hisoka were also released.

Bandai Namco’sSAND LAND is now available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. You can check out its launch trailer here, featuring all the hijinx and vehicular action (though be warned of potential spoilers).

Manor Lords generated a fair bit of buzz in the lead-up to its recent release, surpassing 3 million wishlists, so it’s no surprise that it’s got off to a flying start where player numbers are concerned. Developer Slavic Magic and publisher Hooded Horse’s medieval city-building real-time strategy title launched for Steam in early access on April 26, and within the first 24 hours of its release, it’s attracted players in strong numbers.

Xur has returned in Bungie’s Destiny 2, appearing in the Tower Hangar. Unfortunately, much of the sought after loot is dropping in Onslaught, and his inventory just can’t hack it. Nevertheless, he’s carrying the Exotic energy shotgun Lord of Wolves and other items until the next reset.

Valve has added many quality-of-life updates to Counter-Strike 2 in its latest patch while buffing the Zeus and nerfing the kill reward from the XM1014. Some prominent changes include the ability to swap between one’s left and right hand while aiming. You can set it before rounds and swap temporarily by pressing H.

Survios announced in 2022 that it was developing a new horror game based on the Alien franchise, and that game has now been formally unveiled. Titled Alien: Rogue Incursion, the single-player action horror game has been announced with a brief trailer that reveals its name, but doesn’t show any gameplay or offer any details on its story and setup.

The Plucky Squire sits close to the top of most anticipated lists for a great many people, and even though we’ve seen frustratingly little of it, every time it does re-emerge, it continues to look incredibly promising. In recent days, for instance, developer All Possible Futures has been posting short gameplay clips of the action-adventure title on its official Twitter page, and you guessed it- it’s looking really good.

It’s been barely a month since the reboot of horror classic Alone in the Dark arrived, but it looks like developers Pieces Interactive are now making a number of layoffs in the wake of its release.

The creators of Escape from Tarkov may be looking for their own escape at the moment, after enraging the extraction shooter’s community with a new top-tier edition of the game that’s come under fire for its extortionate cost, “pay-to-win” offerings and for U-turning on the promise of free DLC for buyers of a previous bundle.

Historical strategy sim Manor Lords - which budding feudal despot Nic Reuben has deemed "a sturdy and immersive builder that feels incomplete yet alive with promise" - is now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store and GOG. It was Steam's most wishlisted game before launch, and it's so popular right now that Steam's servers are struggling to keep up: there's an official developer post on the game's Steam forum warning that "the store is overwhelmed from all the people buying, it may take a couple tries for a bit while things calm down".

A collection of five Phoenix Wright games - including some of the greatest visual novels of all time, in my opinion - is about to be discontinued on Steam, making it slightly less convenient to pick up the original Ace Attorney trilogy and its recent prequel games. That’s the bad news. The good news is you’ve got a month’s notice - and it’s on sale for the next week or so.

Survios has announced Alien: Rogue Incursion, a single-player horror action game for PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 3. It will launch this holiday.

eFootball has hit another major download milestone, according publisher Konami.

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has provided an update on Silent Hill 2 in an IR/conference following the group’s consolidated annual report for 2023 (via MauroNL on Twitter). He noted that the team is “in the final stages of work” on the remake, and “We expect that a release date and platforms on which the game will appear will be revealed soon.”

The version 2.2 update for Honkai: Star Rail, dubbed “Then Wake to Weep,” will launch on May 8, developer miHoYo announced.

The wait for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been a long one, but with the long-anticipated open world survival horror FPS drawing closer to its launch a few months down the line, on the 38th anniversary of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster, developer GSC Game World has released a brief new trailer that offers another look at the game.

We’ve been hearing about Lost Soul Aside for years at this point, and though the Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy-inspired action RPG has continued to look impressive with each of its new showings, details on when the game will actually launch have remained frustratingly elusive. That, however, might change soon.

In Nightmare developer Magicfish Games has announced GALIX: New Horizons, a science-fiction open-world action RPG coming to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.

Allegedly in the works since as far back as 2018, Resident Evil 9 is set to have the longest ever development cycle for a Resident Evil game by the time it launches, which, as per prior reports, is going hand-in-hand with the series’ largest ever budget for a single game to date. It seems, however, that Capcom might have pushed back the game further out than originally planned to give it even more time in the oven.

After ending its open beta last year, Player First Games’ MultiVersus will fully launch next month. Alongside new characters, netcode changes, a PvE Mode, a shift to Unreal Engine 5 and more, several changes and new mechanics have been added. These include new Dash Attacks.

Star Wars Outlaws will task players with dealing with several different criminal syndicates at the same time, and while many of these – like the Hutts, the Pykes, and Crimson Dawn – will be familiar to fans of the property, the game will also be introducing things of its own creation into the Star Wars canon as well. There is, for instance, the Ashiga Clan, one of the criminal factions in the game, and in an article published by Game Informer, members of the game’s development team at Massive Entertainment have revealed more details on the newly created Syndicate.

As showcased in yesterday’s livestream, the latest update for Granblue Fantasy: Relink is available today for PS4, PS5 and PC players. Square Enix’s latest mainline title in the SaGa series is now available with SaGa Emerald Beyond. Featuring six playable characters and 17 worlds to explore, it’s playable on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android. Check out the launch trailer below.

Escape From Tarkov, the extraction FPS from developer Battlestate, recently put up a new Unheard edition of the game for pre-order, and tarkov escapers aren't happy about it. The price for this bundle - which includes a new mode, a bigger stash, and assorted gubbins - comes in at $250, or around two actual hundred actual pounds, but the price alone isn’t necessarily what’s got a section of the player base so tarked-off that a few of them are even loudly considering a lawsuit.

Left-handed Counter-Strike 2 players, time to raise that left hand in what could be interpreted as a celebration. In the game's latest update, Valve have added the ability to swap from the default right-handed viewmodel to a left-handed one. There's also an update to the buy menu, making it easier to track your bank account and grab weapons your mates have dropped. Alongside further UI improvements for grenade line-ups, and a tweak to the Active Duty map pool.

Eco-conscious village builder The Wandering Village sees you raising a settlement on the back of a huge wandering creature called Onbu. For the most part, you live in a symbiotic relationship with this gentle giant, as your villagers keep the gargantuan trundlesaur healthy while being ferried about on its back. Awww. Well, the wholesome city-builder now lets you feed villagers to the creature and start a cult in the great devourer's name. Okay. Why not?

Mayors in RPG games are rarely given the spotlight. They're mostly just there to give you an early quest involving goat banditry or windmill rats or some such other domestic drudgery. Or, in the case of Tristram’s mayor in Diablo, to fret behind the scenes about how to properly fit considerable cathedral repairs into this month’s budget. Well, no more must this valuable civil servant hide behind balance sheets, occasionally popping out to cut a big ribbon in celebration of a nearby mausoleum being turned into a Wetherspoons. Tristam is a 72 hour Ludum Dare project where you play as said town’s mayor. And this time: It’s ceremonial!

Bethesda announced ’s next-gen update in 2022, and it’s finally here after a long delay. However, PC players might have been better off without it. The massive update adds very little to the PC version and causes more problems than it solves.

When Exodus was announced at The Game Awards last December, it was none other than actor Matthew McConaughey who unveiled the game on-stage. At the time, it was revealed that he was playing a major character in the game, though since then, further details on the role he will play have been scarce.

Publisher Skybound Games and developer Nice Dream, a Los Angeles-based studio founded by the co-creators of Before Your Eyes, have announced Goodnight Universe, a narrative adventure game in which you play as a six-month-old baby with psychic abilities. Platforms and a release date were not announced. The game will take part in Tribeca Games Festival 2024 from June 12 to 16.

BINGOBELL has announced a major update for open-world action RPG KAKU: Ancient Seal, which is currently in Early Access for PC via Steam. Described as a “major remake,” the update includes new character models, a new prologue, new gameplay, and more. The company also confirmed a full release for this summer, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions at a later date. The previously announced PlayStation 4 version is seemingly no longer planned. A new demo is also available.

I never expected to feel genuine affection for Dr Robotnik, whose various level-ending wrecking balls and spiked doodads have killed me a million times over, but here I am sobbing like a banshee over the release of Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers, a free Mario Kart-alike created by Kart Krew, the fangamer team behind Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart, using the Doom Legacy source port.

The announcement trailer for Lost Legions opens with a Roman Emperor bellowing “GIVE ME BACK MY LEGIONS” like a kid who’s just had his pudding taken away. I'd just had a big swig of coffee before watching, and was instantly swept off by visions of an apoplectic Roman bigwig rampaging through the forests of darkest Germania, gluing abducted legionnaires together into a sort of Octavian katamari... and then they revealed that it’s another open world survival game, with no less than two trailer beats dedicated to the act of hacking down a tree.

As genre mash-ups go, I didn't see this coming. But maybe I should have, knowing how once things like battle royales pop off, they will always spawn curious mutations. Inferni: Hope And Fear is one of these curiosities, being an online co-op, deckbuilding, battle royale, with a 90s theme.

Japanese esports organization CAG Osaka has uploaded a 13-minute gameplay video of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact ahead of its playable debut at EVO Japan 2024 this weekend.

Alien-infested submarine sim Barotrauma has received a chunky update, bringing two new-ish monsters into its lethal aquatic world. And the Viperling is a venomous variant of the existing Spineling (a thorny seaworm with hull-piercing porcupine-like spikes). But don't worry, the medical systems have also seen a "mini-rework", which means drugs like morphine are "less of a 'solution for everything'". Wait. What?

As an Assassin's Creed girlie, I enjoyed Assassin's Creed Mirage, a pared down (but still big game, which is really just proof of how bloated AAA games have gotten, but I'll stop because it's not time to take my personal bugbear for a walk) Ass Creed game that was closer to the simplicity of the older games in the stab 'em up stealth-action series. Yesterday creative director Stéphane Boudon and art director Jeal-Luc Sala took to Reddit for an AMA, and in response to a question about plans for Mirage DLC, Boudon said no - but that they have ideas for more stories for Basim.

My experience with actual flight simulators typically amounts to approaching the runway far, far too quickly at far, far too perpendicular an angle, so perhaps I’m better off just flying folded-up bits of A4. Happily, that’s exactly what Paper Sky, a "semi-open world paper plane adventure" from solo indie dev Brute Force, is offering.

Coming from the creative leads of Persona 3, 4, and 5, Metaphor: ReFantazio is obviously borrowing plenty of elements from the Persona series, but Atlus’ upcoming RPG is also going to put its own twist in that formula in a number of ways, appropriately enough for an entirely new IP. Take, for instance, its blend of real-time and turn-based combat mechanics, or how it will handle exploration throughout its map. Another area where the fantasy RPG will differ from Persona games is how it’ll handle bonds.

Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch version has some issues, including a bug preventing a major character’s recruitment.

If there’s one area (or one of several, actually) where Persona games never fail to impress, it’s the music. Persona 3 Reload, which launched in February, was no different, with the remake receiving widespread praise for how it reimagined and expanded on the original Persona 3’s beloved soundtrack. Now, the remake’s full OST is available for purchase and streaming.

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage was very much a back-to-the-basics moment for Ubisoft’s flagship franchise, opting to have a smaller world with a gameplay loop focused on stealth and parkouring, rather than the RPG mechanics that the series has become known for. Whether or not we’ll ever see a direct follow-up to Mirage is a question that some series fans have wondered at since the game launched last October, and though there’s no concrete answers on that front yet, its development team certainly seems open to the idea of making more games with Mirage’s protagonist Basim.

With Destiny 2: The Final Shape, players will tackle familiar foes inside the Pale Heart of the Traveler en route to fighting The Witness. However, they also have to tackle the Dread, a race of Rhulk-like beings loyal to the latter. Check out the brief trailer below, which highlights two types of Dread: the Harbinger and the Weaver.

Armadillos, the grumpy pistachio nuts of the animal kingdom, have been added to Minecraft in a recent mob update. You can brush them to harvest "scutes", the boney armour plating of the animal's back, which you can then use to craft armour for pet wolves. Speaking of wolves, this update also sees an explosion in canine diversity, with eight varieties of the wolf now appearing across different biomes. Awoooooo!

The PC version of choose-your-own-story multiplayer game Baladins will launch via Steam on May 15, publisher Armor Games Studios and developer Seed by Seed announced. The PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch versions will follow at a later date.

"If only you could talk to these creatures" is never more funny or true than in games like Rotwood, where you play cat people and orcs sent to biff snail worms and flies with scythes. From Klei Entertainment, the gang behind Don't Starve, Invisible Inc. and Oxygen Not Included, to name but a three of their fine games, Rotwood is out later today in early access, ready to provide co-op highjinks in a roguelike dungeon crawl that is really a forest. A forest crawl. You'll get muddy knees.
