Hephaestus is special because he plays a role in most other gods’ stories — he’s the one who crafted their powerful weapons, like Athena’s spear or Zeus’ lightning bolt. He’s also one of the few Greek gods who isn’t “perfect;” it’s said he was thrown from Mt. Olympus because of his appearance, and he was injured on the fall. He’s often depicted with a disability impacting his legs.

John Wiswell’s debut novel Someone You Can Build a Nest In was one of Polygon’s most anticipated SFF novels of 2024, and it lived up to that title. It’s an energetic, deeply strange, surprising book whose protagonist, a monster named Shesheshen, strongly reminded me of one of the decade’s most popular SFF protagonists, Martha Wells’ Murderbot. Like Murderbot, Shesheshen is a nonhuman character who struggles to understand human emotion and behavior, and is frustrated and even repelled when she starts experiencing it herself. They share a certain outlook — a loneliness they can’t acknowledge, and an attachment to one human in particular.

While the franchise may be known for blitzing through demon-infested halls as fast as possible while also gunning down hordes of monsters, one dedicated speedrunner managed to do it faster than anyone else, shattering a long-standing world record. With a dense, resonant story populated by complex and lovable characters, frankly unbelievable player freedom, and a low barrier to entry whether you were familiar with the franchise or not, Larian Studios proved that there’s still a huge, hungry audience for the massive single-player adventure role-playing game.

Helldivers 2 has a few different currencies, but the one that everyone wants is the Super Credits. They're the premium currency of Helldivers 2 that you can use to unlock cool armor in the game's store and the premium Warbonds, which are filled with goodies. They can be either be bought or found scattered pretty liberally across pretty much every planet you drop onto, which is unusually generous of a live service title. Unfortunately, some players have been taking advantage of developer Arrowhead's kindness.

In a recent Reddit thread, Diablo 4 Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher seemed to confirm that the previously datamined Season 4 theme involving the Iron Wolves was accurate. Fletcher stated that «most people have seen some of the things that got out regarding the Season,» implying that information that «got out» was accurate. While this information was previously reported as speculation, it's highly likely that at least a portion of it is correct, based off Fletcher's response.
