Mortal Kombat 1's Nitara reveal trailer features a surprising reference to a piece of MK history that many people have probably forgotten about - Mortal Kombat: Conquest.

Games today announced that actress Megan Fox will be lending her voice and likeness to playable character Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1, the next installment in the acclaimed videogame franchise developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios, releasing on 19 Sept. “I grew up playing Mortal Kombat and I can’t believe that I’m voicing a character in the new game.” said Megan Fox. “It’s an honor to be a part of one of the greatest video game legacies of all time “ A new trailer was revealed showcasing Nitara as the latest main roster fighter in Mortal Kombat 1, including a first look at gameplay and story elements related to the vampire heroine. Hailing from the dark and desolate realm of Vaeternus, Nitara fights to protect her race of vampires and utilizes her ferocious claws, razor-sharp fangs, and aerial abilities to take on any opponent in her path.

Since its reveal earlier this year, Mortal Kombat 1 has been unveiling its star-studded cast, one big name after another. Between J.K. Simmons reprising the role of Omni-Man from Invincible to John Cena being confirmed as Peacemaker, the roster is looking to be fierce in terms of both fighters and their actors. Warner Bros. Games revealed one more member of the cast in September: Megan Fox, of Transformers (2007) and Jennifer’s Body (2009) fame will be playing the role of Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1 .

With the promise of a few surprises and the addition of the Kameo feature, players are excited to see what the latest instalment in this popular fighting franchise offers – including the identity of the main villain of Mortal Kombat 1. Throughout its history, the Mortal Kombat Universe experienced soft reboots and occasional resets to its timeline. However, Mortal Kombat 1 promises to be an entirely new journey – not simply a start from scratch to tell the same story from before. A listing on the Xbox Store has revealed that Mortal Kombat 1's in-game currency, Dragon Krystals" can be used to purchase skins, gear, colour palettes, "and more".

A newly discovered intro dialogue between Kenshi and Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat 1 features a reference to Mortal Kombat X's most underrated fighter - Kung Jin.
