It’s hard to write a review of Unicorn Overlord: the game is big, and after over 30 hours I’ve covered little more than half its map, traversing grasslands, desert, winding mountain paths, and a magical forest on my prince’s conquest to liberate the fantasy land of Fevrith and reclaim his throne. In real life, this was the end of the Shogunate era and the opening of up of Japan to the world. In Team Ninja’s vision, this time period is a good ‘what if?’ scenario. You can choose to align with the Shogunate or the Anti-Shogunate faction, but there’s little black and white clarity in this complex political and societal upheaval. Also, there is lots of combat.

The Djinn is a great Salutor to have early on in with its unique curse skillset. Taming Djinn involves completing the "" side quest, where Wiktor tracks down a market thief and uncovers the reasons behind their pickpocketing spree. I was more than a dozen hours into Dragon’s Dogma 2 when I found my first ropeway — a transport system that would potentially save me time traversing the game’s vast open world by taking me to the skies. I turned a crank to get the ropeway’s wooden gondola moving, then passed said duty onto one of the Pawns in my party. Quite pleased with myself for discovering this new method of travel, I decided to soak in the views of the expansive desert below me until this journey’s end.

Clearly having an influence on  Resident Evil with its puzzles, weight management system and overall creepy theme, the remake of Alone in the Dark has definitely borrowed a few things from more recent games in Capcom’s series. Unfortunately, Alone in the Dark can’t decide what it truly wants to be and falls a little flat by the time it wraps everything up.

The Dungeon Masters Guild is currently offering the Uncaged Anthology Bundle and its 100-plus one-shot D&D adventures for just $12.77 (was $31.92). This year’s show, though, is especially crucial. It comes amid a catastrophic wave of layoffs across studios that’s put well over 10,000 individuals out of work. That’s happening as executives look to tools like generative AI to cut costs, which has created a firestorm over labor issues.
