The remake of Star Wars KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) is alive and well. That's the promise made to the countless fans of the game by Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch, speaking to IGN. The executive also said the studio is 'dedicated to making sure consumer expectations are exceeded', which likely hints at several years of development still needed. Indeed, Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors recently admitted the game needed more than a year of production.
Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Will be A "Fusion Of Film And Game"

A job listing at CD Projekt Red has shed some light on Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, and how the devs will approach the game's cutscenes.
As spotted by Game Rant, CDPR is looking for a lead cinematics designer. In the job description, the studio states that a successful candidate would be working on "highly interactive cinematic sequences" that create a "unique fusion of film and game". From this, we can gather that Project Orion, the codename for the next Cyberpunk game, will go all-in on the interactive cutscenes from the first game, perhaps with more of a cinematic flare.
Part of the job listing reads as follows:
This role is part of our team working on Project Orion - the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise. Our Cinematics Team focuses on crafting highly interactive cinematic sequences using animation libraries and motion capture, creating a unique fusion of film and game.
Cyberpunk 2077 already had a bunch of scripted moments that players could influence, either through dialogue options or actions. Our decisions could avoid or start fights and were an incredibly popular part of the game with players, so it's no surprise to see that CDPR wants to go all-in on this in the sequel.
The reference to creating a "fusion of film and game" part sounds particularly interesting. This could actually be a bit of a difference from the original game since it was almost exclusively in a more video game-esque first-person perspective. We only really saw our character in a cinematic third-person view in the cutscenes at the end of the game, but the wording here suggests that might change in the sequel.
As we reported last October, CDPR has already said that it hasn't committed to the same first-person perspective for Project Orion. Many players said that they wished they could see their character more often in the game, toggling between first and third person like you can in Bethesda RPGs, so the devs might act on this feedback.
In any case, it will be some time before we find out for sure. While the ongoing development of Cyberpunk 2077 has more or less come to an end, the studio has two Witcher games to oversee. Since fans of The Witcher have been waiting far longer for an instalment, we're likely to see these prioritised over Project Orion. However, we don't have a release date for either The Witcher 4 or the spin-off, Project Sirius, so the launch window for Project Orion is anyone's guess.
