As popular as big multiplayer games are, there’s nothing quite like the solo escapism and wish fulfilment of playing single-player, is there? And when it comes to sports games, that wish fulfilment comes in the form of stepping into the shoes of a professional athlete and rising to glory, whether it’s becoming the world number 1 tennis player, leading an underdog football team to win the Premier League, or bringing your favourite F1 team both kinds of championship glory. F1 24 is bringing a bunch of great new options to the career mode, which will add just a few more variable and fun twists in your quest to be the best.

Prior to release, all indications were that Stellar Blade would be an unusually technically polished current-gen launch, with the game’s demo leaving many impressed. But, of course, demos aren’t always indicative of the final game, with devs sometimes taking a thin slice of gameplay and give it more polish than the rest of the game. Well, the review embargo for Stellar Blade has arrived, and it seems it’s not only a good time in terms of action (check out Wccftech’s positive review here) but according to the tech heads at Digital Foundry, the full game is every bit as technically sound as the demo. You can check out Digital Foundry’s full video analysis below, provided you have around 20 minutes to spare, or you can scroll down for our rundown of the salient points.
Lawyers and parents are taking on the video game industry. There are eight lawsuits currently active in North America that seek to address video game addiction. All have been filed within the past two years, and most argue that the targeted video game companies, including Activision Blizzard, Epic Games, Microsoft, Roblox, Nintendo, Take-Two Interactive Software, and Sony Interactive Entertainment, make their games purposefully addictive as a way to keep people playing, and, ultimately, to get them to spend lots of money.

We have recently covered that the hype surrounding the Vision Pro has cooled down and demand for the headset is far lower than when it launched. The Apple Vision Pro did not pan out to be a hot seller as it was originally anticipated by the company which is why shipment orders have been cut down. Potentially, the lower-than-expected demand is due to the hefty price tag of the Vision Pro, as it is one of the most expensive mixed reality headsets on the market right now.

To fully unlock your potential, you aren't just running into an instance portal full speed into a pack of enemies — you're toting a full bag of consumables along with you to provide every edge possible. The War Within will be no different, offering players both new and more familiar consumables to work with: everything from enchantments to flasks and potions will be on a raider's To-Do list before that weekly lockout comes around.

The War Within is bringing new Profession recipes to players, which means new and interesting effects on crafted epics! Players will remember how useful some crafted items like Elemental Lariat were in Dragonflight, and The War Within is introducing effects just as interesting and unique on the newest epics for players to experiment with. These effects don't come free though. While not yet present on any of the crafted items, we have found a new Embellishment tag, suggesting that the most powerful special effects on crafted gear will be limited similar to Dragonflight. While we've mainly discovered Leatherworking and Jewelcrafting effects so far, we're sure there will be many more to come!

While some of these Embellishments are clearly a work in progress, we're sure there will be many more to come!

Horizon Forbidden West is one of the best-looking games on consoles, period – a statement that now extends to PC thanks to this port from Nixxes, the Sony-owned studio responsible for the recent PC ports of PlayStation games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. While this is a cross-generation game, the PS5 is where it pushes the fidelity needle most, so that’s what we’ll be using for the main console comparison. Compared to the PS5, this PC port loses none of the quality and, depending on the machine, can even exceed it. It also comes with one big and welcome improvement – Nixxes has added real-time render options via a transparent menu, a genius touch that aids PC market’s desire to fiddle, offering immediate and, most importantly, visual changes to the games rendering.

Magic: The Gathering's second-hand market can be pretty volatile at times, with outside factors sometimes playing a part in the prices of certain cards. For example, Karlach, Fury of Avernus saw a pretty significant price spike after the launch of Baldur's Gate 3 due to thirsty fans buying the card in droves. Prices can drop and spike all the time, especially when a newly released set manages to incorporate a previously worthless card into an infinite combo.

In Dragonflight, Professions received a complete overhaul, changing the system from one that was relatively one-note into a more nuanced way of creating items. Secondary crafting stats, such as Inspiration and Resourcefulness, were introduced in order to better target the ability to craft specific ways: if you wanted to earn a lot of bonus materials simply by crafting other people's items, Resourcefulness could allow you to do that, while being Inspired might allow you to craft the best gear more easily. Inspiration, however, was quickly determined to be a «meta» crafting stat — allowing players to create top-of-the-line gear well before their Profession Skill would technically allow it. This Secondary crafting stat was the subject of many conversations among players, some enjoying the ability to «hit it big,» while others lamented the added layer of RNG to crafting to min-max their gear. In The War Within, however, it seems that Inspiration is getting a rework — and will be removed entirely in favor of a new system. We've datamined a new Alchemy Phial, the Phial of Focused Inspiration, which indicates that Inspiration will no longer exist in the manner we're used to. Blizzard released a crafting-specific Professions Update called Concentration in The War Within, detailing the new system, Concentration: Greetings members of the Artisan’s Consortium! As we reveal much of the content coming in The War Within, we’d like discuss a new system we’re cooking up for professions. Inspiration We added Inspiration in Dragonflight to try and capture the fantasy of critical hits while crafting. If you weren’t quite capped out on your gear and specializations for a given craft, or if you weren’t using max quality reagents to guarantee that max quality item, Inspiration was a way to get that lucky crit. It could save you some money (by using lower-quality reagents) and you could craft a better item than you would otherwise. That was the hope at least, but it ended up (understandably) becoming a situation where crafters take this luck-based system, tell their customers that they would recraft an item an indeterminate number of times, and summarily charge a specific price per recraft until their Inspiration struck. So we’re making changes, because:

In a year already stuffed with terrific games, Children of the Sun stands out as something truly special. Developed by René Rother, the psychedelic puzzle-shooter plays like a spiritual mashup of Sniper Elite and Superhot by way of the anarchic noise rock sensibilities of Suda51, dropping players in the role of a vengeful masked assassin on a one-woman warpath across a surreal version of the American South to kill the leader of an army of cultists.
Target may be doing away with physical media for movies and video games next year, at least according to a new rumor. The discussion of whether or not physical releases still have a place in the gaming industry has only intensified in recent years, with most titles being made available to purchase digitally without having to ever step foot inside a brick-and-mortar retailer like Target. The advent of subscription gaming services like Xbox Game Pass has added a new wrinkle to the conversation, as gamers can now access an entire digital library of games for a fraction of the price of a single physical copy.

Video games have often allowed the player to enter the role of a villain with great effect. Whether it's the dastardly deeds of or the potential to go down evil routes in series like, there are many great games where the player is a villain. Enter , from Strange Scaffold and Frost Pop, where the player is responsible for some extremely nefarious acts; but is there a valid reason behind them?
In 2023, Strange Scaffold released El Paso, Elsewhere, a horror-tinged throwback to the likes of Max Payne that also told a deeply personal and unsettling story about a toxic relationship. Its next game, Life Eater, puts players in the shoes of a serial killer seeking out new targets to kill and sacrifice to a god he’s starting to question the existence of. This isn’t a Manhunt- or Hitman-style stalk-and-kill game; it offers a feeling of detachment by having players parse through timelines to learn everything they need to abduct and properly sacrifice a target.

Fans of the Fallout games won’t be shocked to learn that Amazon’s new TV show based on the franchise is gruesomely violent. This is a franchise known for its Bloody Mess perk, and for the VATS system, which lets players target and blow off heads and limbs. In today's Patch 10.2.7 PTR, we've datamined new spells that indicate the return of raid buff scrolls including Mystic Touch and Chaos Brand for Timerunning Pandaria: Remix. In previous expansions, raid buff scrolls allowed players to partially fill in holes in compositions which was especially helpful in 10-man raiding and dungeon content where the number of players was limited. Perhaps these raid buff scrolls are returning because Timerunning raids might allow for smaller raid groups?
Here are the datamined class changes for Patch 10.2.7!

Whatever it might be, Unicorn Overlord has ‘it’, an X-factor that ensures that it’s an early entry for strategy game of the year.
