Side quests in can sometimes have outcomes that will limit options down the road, particularly when it comes to relationships with NPCs. One side job in the game, "," has just such a conclusion, where players will need to choose carefully if they are looking to have romance blossom between V and Judy. Lives are on the line, as they always seem to be in the gritty world of Night City, and V has several options about how to proceed, particularly in one very important dialogue exchange with Maiko.

In a time when just about everything (other than Nintendo games) is coming out on PC alongside the Xbox and PlayStation (eventually), it’s become the great intersectional platform. There are games that are only on PC, games that are on PC and Xbox but not PlayStation, games that are on PC and PlayStation and not Xbox, and games that are on PC and Switch but neither Xbox nor PlayStation. That means there was a terrifically wide range of nominees in the running for PC Game of the Year for 2023 – including quite a few that would’ve easily made this list if they’d come out in any of the past several years instead. What stands out is that, in a conversation that spanned all genres, RPG dominated the top of the list almost entirely – but each of them is wildly different from the others.

CD Projekt Red fulfilled a five-year promise last week when it added a fully functional metro system to Cyberpunk 2077. While the feature does wonders to make Night City feel more alive, I was surprised to learn just how little California’s public transportation infrastructure has improved in the game’s alternate-reality future.

While coming into the year we knew we’d be getting highly-anticipated sequels with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, something that defined this year was the blistering pace of great game releases, seemingly every month.

You could say that Cyberpunk 2077 hasn't had the easiest of rides. Perhaps after the years of hyperbole that was deserved, but what can't be denied is that CD Projekt Red re-trenched after the initial reception, stuck by the game, and has delivered consistent improvements that all led up to this year's major 2.0 update. 10 Chambers, the studio founded by Payday and Payday 2 lead Ulf Andersson, is now working on a heist shooter of its own. After finding success with hit co-op horror shooter GTFO, the studio's going back to the roots of much of its staff with Den of Wolves, a cyberpunk heist shooter coming to PC and consoles.

Releasing next week on the 5th December alongside the Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077, Update 2.1 adds and improves a whole bunch of stuff. The full patch notes are coming next week, but for now, we've gathered all of the main points from the latest CD Projekt Red stream and made an easy-to-read bullet point list, which you can find below.

The tale of CD Projekt Red and their futuristic cyberpunk-themed video game is likely well-known to you now. But it’s worth retelling again because of the release of Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, which is meant to be the “definitive version” of the title in every way that matters. If you don’t know, this “Ultimate Edition” brings together the main game that launched in 2020 and the expansion that was released a few months ago. Plus, all the updates that have helped improve the game over the years are included. They even made a special launch trailer bringing back Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba to narrate why you should “enjoy” Night City as you try to make your way through it.

The Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 is available today on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. However, those who own the game can download Update 2.1 for free. It’s live now, according to CD Projekt RED on Twitter.

In addition to Update 2.1 going live for all players, Cyberpunk 2077’s Ultimate Edition is out on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’s the definitive edition and includes the base game, Phantom Liberty expansion, all updates released thus far (including Update 2.1) and digital goodies from the “My Rewards” program for $59.99.

Adam Smasher is supposed to be a near-legendary threat to Night City itself, built up through in-game and out-of-game lore. As the final boss of and a memorable character in the anime, he should have been an epic battle that players made it through by the barest of margins. Instead, he was a relative weakling and a huge letdown for players once they went toe-to-toe with him as V. After patch 2.1, however, he is much closer to the reputation that precedes him.

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting the last major update before developer CD Projekt Red moves on to the next project. Dubbed ‘Update 2.1,' the patch finally brings the long-requested metro system, the ability to hang out with romantic partners, radios, and a ton of quality-of-life changes. It drops alongside the Ultimate Edition on December 5 at 4:30pm IST in India/ 12pm CET in Europe. Bear in mind that this is a free downloadable update, so it won't be included natively in the physical disc versions releasing on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. That said, the 2.0 Update released in September will be included across all versions, entirely overhauling the perk system and adding a range of tech augmentations, which weren't present in the original 2020 version.

We eventually received Cyberpunk 2077, a game that traded in the fantasy aspect and monster hunting for a futuristic criminal underworld. The game has been available for several years now, but as you know, it just recently had a resurgence thanks to Phantom Liberty. CD Projekt Red had started a new marketing campaign with the Night City Archives to keep the momentum going and potentially rope in some new players.

Katanas are extremely powerful melee weapons in , with the best ones letting you slice and carve your name into Night City as an unstoppable merc with a sword. A number of cyberware and other attachments can help your version of V sneak or dash toward enemies to cut them down easily. With the right upgrades, katanas can deal some of the highest damage in the game in only a few swings.

CD Projekt Red had made a name for themselves when they delivered  The Witcher  franchise. Fans took up with the RPG series and were overjoyed to learn that the studio was working on another game franchise altogether. After  The Witcher 3 , the development team switched to  Cyberpunk 2077 . Rather than the fantasy world we were used to seeing from this talented team, we were getting tossed into the future. Neon-glittered streets and vicious gang wars thrived. Best of all, you could tweak your character with some nifty cyberware to really get the edge on your enemy. Unfortunately, while this all sounded great on paper, its execution was far from perfect.

Whether playing through for the first or thousandth time, picking the right lifepath is always an important decision. Choosing between the powerful Corpo, the free-spirited Nomad, or the sensible Street Kid doesn't have any obvious consequences for essential gameplay elements, like a character's stats or skills. However, it has the potential to affect the overall experience in ways that are easy to miss.

There are several endings available in CD Projekt Red's open-ended action RPG , influenced by both main story dialogue choices, side quests, and character romances, and they range from devastating to bittersweet. In the end, protagonist V's fate is determined by the player, with the caveat that for all but one of the endings, if V survives, they only have six months to live due to the Relic. Despite the difficulties they face, V can manage to secure a happy ending — or at least the closest thing to a happy ending that exists in the dark universe.

Important missions will direct you to a place called The Riot Club in , but a major bug has prevented many players from getting into this building. As of this time of writing, the Club remains closed even if you have an objective that can only be pursued inside the area. A few alternate entrances should help you overcome this obstacle as you try to complete quests throughout Night City.

During the course of 's main story, V must decide what to do with Finn «Fingers» Gerstatt, a ripperdoc operating out of an abandoned flophouse in Jig-Jig Street. During the main campaign, players interact with Fingers while hunting for Evelyn Parker, the woman who commissioned the disastrous heist on Konpeki Plaza that serves as the climax of the game's first act. Once Fingers is found, V finds out not only the next clue to Evelyn's location, but also what type of doctor Fingers really is.

Big-name Hollywood actors playing important roles in games has become an increasingly common occurrence over the years, and CD Projekt RED has been one of the studios at the forefront of that, with Keanu Reeves starring in Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion Phantom Liberty, and Idris Elba in the latter. So is that something that we can expect to see more of from the Polish company in the future, especially with the inevitable Cyberpunk 2?

Both in and out of games (more so the former), Cyberpunk as an IP has always been intrinsically linked to Night City, a futuristic uber-capitalistic fictional city that has frequently served as the central setting for Cyberpunk stories. That, of course, was the case in Cyberpunk 2077 as well, not to mention its acclaimed expansion, Phantom Liberty. But with CD Projekt RED now having started shifting focus to Cyberpunk 2 (or whatever the sequel will end up being named), it’s only natural to wonder- will it be set in Night City once again, just as the first game was?

The much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC has won the Best Game Expansion award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 powered by Intel.

When you first come across a Delamain car in , its location will be marked on the map so that you can start a major side quest right after. There are six Delamain cars in total, and V will be tasked to find all of them in Night City. However, unlike the first car, the rest will not be marked on the map, and you will have to locate them without any clues or guidance. Finding all of them will reward V with a lot of Street Cred, EXP, and Eurodollars (Eddies).

's DLC,, is an essential add-on for any fan of the base game. While the unpredictable spy-thriller story is among the best to be developed by CD Projekt RED, Phantom Liberty pays homage to a number of CD Projekt RED's previous games and most popular franchises — none more so than their critically and commercially revered series based on Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy series of book, series. One particularly well-hidden reference, made in, to a notable character from franchise will undeniably be very bittersweet for long-time fans.

's DLC added a plethora of new armaments to the dangerous world of Night City. While many of these new bladed, blunt, and ballistic weapons are not especially special, some of the new Iconic weapons are absolutely fantastic, devastatingly deadly, and simply super cool. These new Iconic weapons, and those from the base game, represent the pinnacle of V's arsenal, and while they are all deadly, some are far cooler than others.

Although experienced a rocky road upon its release, after a number of patches it has become one of the best games to be released in recent years. One undeniable highlight of the game is its fantastic story — a story that features a number of exciting, and often unexpected, twists and turns. Perhaps the game's most notable surprising event comes during the fifth main job, «The Heist,» during which a seismic event takes place that shakes the political and social fabric of Night City. Furthermore, this out-of-the-blue occurrence results in one absolutely enormous plot hole that potentially has huge consequences for the entire extended Arasaka family storyline.

A new Cyberpunk 2077 mod that is now available for download gives the game a marked Blade Runner feel that suits Night City extremely well.

Cyberpunk 2077 owes its miraculous recovery to a few things. While the work behind the scenes that has gone into fixing the game and the success of its Phantom Liberty expansion are the two big ones, there's no doubting Edgerunners also had a part to play. An anime set in Night City that wound up being a hit on Netflix in 2022 despite the rocky launch of the game from which it's spun. There's a reason there are so many references to Edgerunners in Cyberpunk's DLC.

's sequel is a long way off, but the codename that CD Projekt Red is using for it may be hiding some clues as to what the plot of the next game will focus on. The recently released expansion DLC to was the last major content addition to the current game, and a sequel to the RPG is in the early stages of design. Currently referred to as, the upcoming game doesn't have much else revealed yet, beyond that it is a sequel.

The developer of , CD Projekt RED, announced that the recently released DLC will be the game's only expansion, and the studio is now directing their attention towards a full-length sequel, tentatively known as. While and the DLC did feature a few A-list cast members, the vast majority of the game's vocal talents were provided by dedicated voice actors. Though this is a refreshing change from the incredible over-saturation of celebrities in media being employed over voice actors, there are a few incredibly well-known names that would make for perfect additions to a sequel.

One of the best Ripperdocs that operates in 's Night City is Fingers, aka Finn Gerstatt. He runs a store in Japantown, located in the Westbrook District. While you will visit the vendor during the beginning of Act 2, unlocking him as a usable vendor requires you to finish Fingers' questline. You will need to reach the "" quest, which involves this Rippledoc. He will become available again after you finish his questline, provided you did not anger him during the "" and "" quests.

has many easter eggs and secrets that players can uncover, including a Secret Dev Room hidden behind a market. Other secrets, such as tarot graffiti tarot cards and references to 's anime,, can be found in Night City if you explore. While many of these secrets can be uncovered quite easily, the Secret Dev Room is not meant to be found by players easily. However, if you are determined to locate this easter egg, there is a way.

Even after several years of updates and an excellent expansion, Cyberpunk 2077 still isn't bug-free. I said as much in my Phantom Liberty review. The difference now versus launch back in 2020 is that the bugs are now within acceptable limits.

Cyberpunk's 2.02 patch has hit, bringing with it a surfeit of tweaks, fixes, and improvements to Night City in the wake of the game's sweeping 2.0 update and accompanying redemption arc. As usual there's a whole lot of bullet points here, and I'll put the full patch notes below, but there are a couple of entries worth highlighting in particular.

Cyberpunk 2077 launched all the way back in late 2020, as I'm sure many of you remember all too well. However, with a bunch of updates aiming to improve the game from its poorly received release, there always tends to be something new to find in Night City, even after all of this time. Take, for example, today's discovery - that V is actually clumsy as hell.

is set to improve on both of its predecessors with a wealth of new mechanics. This includes the option to switch between both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, special combat abilities such as Peter's more brutal Symbiote moves and Miles' improved bioelectric attacks, and new ways to traverse the city with a wealth of web-swinging animations and other options. However, despite these enhancements, some players may never see the game's most impressive feature: Insomniac's overhauled Fast Travel mechanic.

Developers for have said that the recently released DLC would be the only expansion content offered for the title, and they are shifting their focus toward a sequel to the game instead. The video game set in a dystopian, cyber-enhanced future had a rocky start but eventually bounced back in a truly impressive fashion to be a massive success. is based on a 1988 tabletop RPG called, and therefore it is likely that some of what could be delivered in the sequel, so far called, may follow that lead.
