Capcom plan to make Dragon's Dogma 2's dragonsplague less frequent, and more obvious

Capcom are working on another Dragon's Dogma 2 patch, and this one takes as its target the dreaded dragonsplague, which causes the game's AI-controlled pawns to go nuts and murder everybody, including story-critical NPCs, if you allow it to go untreated for long enough. It'll reduce the infection frequency of dragonsplague, which is spread when pawns mingle with other pawns online, and make the symptoms more obvious. Pawns already get glowing eyes when they're dragonsplagued - I guess they'll be all the glowier in future.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has no shortage of devious tricks up its sleeve with which to take players by surprise in the meanest way possible, but none of them can hold a candle to Dragonsplague. The disease is contracted by Pawns and is highly contagious, which means Pawns can infect other players’ games if summoned, and if signs of the disease are ignored, the results can be (literally) catastrophic.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Devs Are “Not Considering Any Form of Multiplayer”

Capcom and director Hideaki Itsuno’s vision for the original Dragon’s Dogma was to develop a purely single player experience that, through the use of its AI-controlled companions known as Pawns, would emulate the feeling of an MMORPG with other players. The upcoming, long overdue Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to expand on its predecessor in a number of ways – from a larger open world to how much content it’ll offer and much more – but that focus on delivering a purely single player experience isn’t changing.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Vocations Are “More Interesting and Engaging” Than the First Game, Director Says

From newcomers like the Mystic Spearhand and the Trickster to returning favourites like the Fighter and the Warrior, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to offer a number of different Vocations for players to play as, each offering a completely different play style. Unlike the first game, however, in the sequel, each Vocation is going to be much more limited in what it’ll be able to do, in that each of them will generally specialize in a single weapon type.

Dragon's Dogma 2 cooking features "real meat" - does that mean vegans shouldn't play it?

Dragon's Dogma series director Hideaki Itsuno has announced that the meat you can cook in Dragon's Dogma 2 is, in fact, "real meat". There's been a certain amount of PlayStation-instigated speculation about whether the meat is CGI-generated, following the last round of Dragon's Dogma 2 previews. Speaking to Japanese site 4Gamer, as translated by Automaton, Itsuno revealed that the game's scenes of sizzling flesh are derived from live action film of steaks being grilled - partly for the sake of authenticity, and partly to save money versus creating computer models of meat products. You can cook several types of meat in Dragon's Dogma, each of which has its own cutscene, and a number of Dragon's Dogmatists are already performatively salivating at the prospect on social media.

Ahead of launching Dragon's Dogma 2 later this month, Capcom have released its character creator for free as a separate standalone doodad. You can create your character and your main Pawn (NPC sidekick) and save them to use in the full game. Or, if you're like me and cannot resist playing for hours in a character creator, you can enjoy fiddling with its many sliders and marvelling at the breadth of options like 334 different colours for its four eye colour settings and the ability to remove individual teeth. I made my kitten as my pal, because I guess that's what I do now.

Dragon's Dogma 2 expands the original game's absolutely daft NPC affinity system

One of the sillier aspects of the original Dragon's Dogma was accidentally falling head over heels for some rando innkeeper, and having them appear aside you as your sweetheart during the end credits, much to the surprise of many players who didn't realise they were hitting on every NPC they did a favour for.

Dragon's Dogma 2's Magick Archer class makes me want to solo the game

Yesterday I banged out the first in a torrid trilogy of Dragon's Dogma 2 features, centring on hands-on time with the game's Mystic Spearhand "vocation" or class. Look out for parts 2 and 3 over the coming week. During the hands-on, I also spent 45 minutes in the shoes of another advanced Dragon's Dogma 2 class, the Magic - sorry, Magick Archer. You might remember this vocation from the original Dragon's Dogma; then as now, it combines relatively straightforward bow combat with various breeds of enchanted ammunition, for a surprisingly technical skillset that is enjoyable to faff around with.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Main Story is About as Long as the First Game

There’s been no shortage of massive games in 2024 already, but there’s still plenty more to come, and among them, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is probably the one that has the most eyes on it. Capcom has previously revealed that the open world action RPG is going to boast a massive open world that will be roughly four times as large as the first game’s map, but is that going to translate to a longer runtime as well?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Preview – Beautiful, fascinating, and a touch archaic

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of the prettiest games I think I’ve played. It is an astoundingly good-looking game and one where every step I took through the massive part of the open world I had access to was flawless. Flowing rivers, eerily still lakes, amazing forests, a horrible desert area that killed me off a frustrating number of times, and towns that hustle and bustle with the best of them.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Trailer Highlights Devastating Mystic Spearhand Vocation

The variety that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is promising with the ten Vocations that it will allow players to play as has looked like one of its biggest selling points in the lead-up to its release (not unlike its predecessor), and Capcom’s marketing team has certainly been trying its best to hammer that point home. Multiple trailers over the last couple of weeks have shone the spotlight on a variety of Vocations, and Capcom has now released another one of those.

Capcom Considering “Price Review” For Future Titles Due to “Rising Development Costs”

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the next major release for Capcom, capping off the current fiscal year. It’s garnered attention for its massive world, unconventional mechanics (including restrictions to fast travel) and emergent gameplay. However, it’s also the first title from the publisher to be priced at $69.99, joining the likes of Sega and major Western publishers like Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and more.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Might be Getting a Demo Soon – Rumour

The first few weeks of 2024 have been packed full of major new releases (and a couple of big surprises that came out of nowhere), and the coming weeks look like they’re going to keep that momentum going. Of the games lined up for launch in the near future though, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is perhaps among the biggest ones, and it seems like players might soon get the chance to dip their toes in its waters before the full game launches.
