The drumbeat towards launch continues with two new videos giving Dragon’s Dogma fans a look at how some of the game’s basic vocations will play in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This time, Capcom’s put a focus on the Archer and Mage vocations.
Players who are looking to take a more indirect approach to combat may be interested in the Archer. Based on the Advanced Ranger found in the original Dragon’s Dogma, the Archer plays similarly, though perhaps without access to some of that vocation’s melee abilities. Instead, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has split the vocation into the basic Archer and Thief vocations, divvying up the ranged and melee capabilities between both vocations.
The Mage returns from Dragon’s Dogma 1 for players who prefer slinging spells to arrows. The Mage is equally capable at assailing its foes with destructive magic as it is buffing and healing its allies. While the Mage was quickly supplanted by the Advanced Sorcerer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma, Capcom appears to be differentiating it a bit more this time by putting more a focus on its speed and varied array of spells.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 arrives on March 22 for the PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
