There is no shortage of poorly released games. We’ve seen quite a few that just failed to hit the mark. Few games manage to recover and truly turn things around. Among that short list is CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. However, looking at the game now, we can see just how much the game has transformed into a more optimized and thrilling gameplay experience. 

The end is approaching for Netflix's uneven The Witcher adaptation; the streaming service has officially renewed the show for a fifth season, which will be its last.

PC players can now help test the mod editor for the PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED has announced. Players can download The Witcher 3 REDkit through Steam to try and make mods for the game that can range from something as simple as creating new items and weapons, to full-fledged quests and characters.

A developer at the Cyberpunk 2077 studio, CD Projekt Red, has playfully mocked Ubisoft's use of the term «Quadruple-A» to describe its latest release, Skull and Bones. Inspired by the exceptional naval combat that debuted in Assassin's Creed 4: Blag Flag, Ubisoft's Skull and Bones attempts to refine that system in a shared-world live service experience. Despite Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot boasting Skull and Bones as a «AAAA» game, its February launch left a lot to be desired, so much so that its release gave Assassin's Creed 4 an unexpected spike in player count.

CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is still hiding Easter eggs within it that have yet to be discovered. It appears that fans of the successful sci-fi RPG have more work to do id they want to uncover all the secrets hidden within the game, despite Cyberpunk 2077 having been released years ago.

We had a very recent example of that with Dragon’s Dogma 2, a game that, despite widespread acclaim, still drew plenty of backlash for its post-launch inclusion of microtransactions. Not all players in the industry see the value in such a strategy, however.

CD Projekt's chief financial officer, Piotr Nielubowicz, says the company does «not see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games».

CD Projekt Red is actively exploring new mobile game opportunities, the developer has confirmed. This revelation was offered as part of its parent company's latest earnings report, which also saw CD Projekt reveal a 39% increase in full-year 2023 profits, largely driven by the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion.

As caught by VGC, the company was asked during a Q&A session during its earnings conference for FY2023 whether it would be open to licensing its big IP—The Witcher and Cyberpunk—to third parties for mobile games.

Bungie has revealed a new Destiny 2 community event inspired by The Witcher. This new community event follows a crossover with CD Projekt Red’s hit franchise, which introduced several new cosmetics inspired by Geralt of Rivia that came with Season of the Wish. Crossovers are nothing new in Destiny 2, with Bungie introducing cosmetics based on other popular Sony titles like God of War and Horizon Forbidden West into the game, but this is the first time that one has resulted in a community event.

In an industry that’s been as focused on mergers and acquisitions as the games industry has been in recent years, major companies that have retained their independence have been the focal point of much speculation related to future acquisitions. Naturally, The Witcher and Cyberpunk developer CD Projekt has frequently been brought up in such conversations- though the Polish company itself has no intentions of being acquired.

The latest UK physical sales charts are in for the past week, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has debuted in fifth place. Digital sales aren’t included, and launching on December 7th means fewer days of tracking. We’ll need to wait and see how its long-term sales pan out.

The newest version, Update 2.1, went live today, December 5, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the changes may not be as drastic, the new version includes several exciting new features.

CD Projekt Red continue to pay my rent by releasing regular patches for the once-borked, now-brill open world so I can write news about them. The latest, Update 2.1, is out now and adds new races, car chases, romantic smooches, and a working metro system.

The Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 is available today on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. However, those who own the game can download Update 2.1 for free. It’s live now, according to CD Projekt RED on Twitter.

In addition to Update 2.1 going live for all players, Cyberpunk 2077’s Ultimate Edition is out on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’s the definitive edition and includes the base game, Phantom Liberty expansion, all updates released thus far (including Update 2.1) and digital goodies from the “My Rewards” program for $59.99.

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting the last major update before developer CD Projekt Red moves on to the next project. Dubbed ‘Update 2.1,' the patch finally brings the long-requested metro system, the ability to hang out with romantic partners, radios, and a ton of quality-of-life changes. It drops alongside the Ultimate Edition on December 5 at 4:30pm IST in India/ 12pm CET in Europe. Bear in mind that this is a free downloadable update, so it won't be included natively in the physical disc versions releasing on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. That said, the 2.0 Update released in September will be included across all versions, entirely overhauling the perk system and adding a range of tech augmentations, which weren't present in the original 2020 version.
