CD Projekt Reiterates it’s “Not Interested” in Being Acquired

CD Projekt's new joint CEO Adam Badowski revealed plans to incorporate AI into the studio's development cycle and also offered updates on the upcoming The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 sequels. 

CD Projekt has confirmed it's «considering» multiplayer elements for its Cyberpunk 2077 sequel during an update on the studio's current development plans — which also included word it's aiming to start the production phase for its next Witcher game this year.

The next Cyberpunk game from CD Projekt - currently codenamed "Orion" - might have multiplayer in it, according to co-CEO Michal Nowakowski. Please let it be some kind of deckhead 'passenger-seat-driver' mode, where you get to play a crusty celeb uploaded to another character's brain implants, who strolls around the landscape as a hologram, offering gritty commentary on your Night City-based endeavours. As CD Projekt staffs up for its various projects in development, the boss of the company has said it is considering adding multiplayer to the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

With support for Cyberpunk 2077 having finally ended, CD Projekt RED is moving on to its next projects, and while it looks like The Witcher 4 will take precedence as it enters full production later this year, work on the next Cyberpunk game is also underway.

The Witcher 4 is set to enter its production phase during 2024, with plans for 400 developers to be working on the game by the summer.

A particularly keen Genshin Impact player discovered a clue about the upcoming Natlan region in the recent Special Program Announcement for Version 4.4. Despite initially releasing with just Mondstadt and Liyue, the developers have commendably been open about Genshin Impact's future regions ever since the Travail teaser dropped. Fans who got to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ahead of its launch next month have noticed an interesting tidbit about the game’s version of Batman: he will follow the player around the open world of Metropolis as only The Dark Knight can. Rocksteady held a closed alpha test for Suicide Squadback in November, allowing a small group of players to try the game out for themselves while Rocksteady tested its online servers. Rocksteady and WB Games also held a special preview event for Suicide Squad recently, allowing press members and social media influencers to play through the first few hours.
