With these improvements, and 2023's acclaimed expansion, is a far more beloved game than it was at launch. In a new interview with, Game director Gabe Amatangelo — who helmed the work on the 2.0 update and — has revealed that the studio is turning its attention more fully towards 's sequel — currently codenamed simply saying "" when asked about further updates.
The 2.0 update was originally believed to be the last major update for when it released alongside in September 2023. This wasn't the case, however, as CD Projekt Red also released the 2.1 update with the Metro system mere months later, and the 2.11 patch with custom paint jobs in January 2024. This mentality clearly seems to have worked so far, as was extremely well received along with the recent updates to the game. is crawling with interesting Easter eggs and one dedicated fan just discovered one of those secrets can be found as early as the character customization screen. One of the key narrative hooks of CD Projekt Red's RPG is the existence of Johnny Silverhand, a digital reconstruction of the consciousness of an iconic punk rocker who manages to make a home inside the head of protagonist V. Played by Keanu Reeves, the character plays a significant role in the story but those who weren't aware of his existence can get a hint while making a character.
players can finally build the house of their dreams in the game. While many players will spend most of their time in traveling across the galaxy, building outposts, or fighting bandits, others opt to spend some time at their character's home, a luxurious dream home on a planet called Nesoi that can be unlocked via the Dream Home trait within the game.
has been largely praised for its engaging storyline and main characters, but as with many of the best RPGs, it's the side quests that bring the world of the game to life. These smaller interactions and unrelated adventures make Night City feel truly lived in, learning the plights of citizens from all walks of life, including a seemingly sentient vending machine.
CD Projekt Red is actively exploring new mobile game opportunities, the developer has confirmed. This revelation was offered as part of its parent company's latest earnings report, which also saw CD Projekt reveal a 39% increase in full-year 2023 profits, largely driven by the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and its Phantom Liberty expansion.
To say V is responsible for a lot of killing throughout 's story would be an understatement. Alongside dispatching swathes of gang members, corpo-owned armies, and more, V comes face to face with some truly brutal foes, none more memorable than Arasaka's head of security, Adam Smasher.
and its anime spinoff may be a few years old but that hasn't stopped the fandom from unearthing even more heartbreaking Easter eggs that connect the video game to the series. While the world of Night City may have already been a popular piece of pop culture before CD Projekt Red adapted the tabletop RPG into a video game, the launch of Netflix's anime further increased interest in the franchise by simply being an excellent, heartbreaking story. Now, one particularly tragic scene has been discovered in, immortalizing the fate of Kiwi.

The latest update for may not fundamentally alter any aspects of the game but it is frustrating for certain players who prefer experiencing the narrative with the help of some third-party add-ons. Ever since CD Projekt Red released the highly-anticipated RPG in 2020 the studio has actively pushed out patches to fix what was widely considered to be an unfinished product due to the number of bugs and glitches that plagued the project. The most recent hotfix solves one very common issue but at the cost of installed mods.
's lead quest designer has explained why the ending was so underwhelming for many. Prior to its launch, Bethesda marketed the game as being an epic space adventure, spanning over 1000 planets, and while it was extremely well received by critics at launch, its popularity soon seemed to dwindle with players, with complaints that many planets seemed empty and ultimately, there wasn't as much to do as they wanted.
