A narrative director working on Cyberpunk 2077's sequel shared his excitement about the future game, following his first day in CD Projekt Red's new Boston studio. The studio was built to focus on the development of Cyberpunk 2077's follow-up.
Cyberpunk 2077 won the Best Ongoing Game award at The Game Awards 2023, congratulating CD Projekt Red for its determination to make up for the game's disastrous launch. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games in recent memory due to its captivating premise and CD Projekt Red's history of developing acclaimed titles. However, this of course did not pan out as Cyberpunk 2077 launched with plenty of bugs and unfinished features. As it begins development on Cyberpunk 2, CD Projekt Red has expressed its desire to do things differently this time, and fans are already buying in. As its fan base grows more and more excited about the Cyberpunk franchise's future, it seems that developers are sharing the same sentiment.
CD Projekt Red Narrative Director Igor Sarzynski tweeted, «First day in the Boston office! So good to meet old friends and officially kickstart our Orion journey. I couldn't be more excited for this project and i'm sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up.» It seems that the company has every intention of learning from the mistakes leading up to Cyberpunk 2077's launch and delivering Cyberpunk 2, codenamed Orion, as one of CD Projekt Red's typically excellent titles. Although anticipation is already building surrounding the company's upcoming Cyberpunk game, very few details have been shared regarding its development.

Philipp Weber, another narrative director working on Cyberpunk, explained that he's pushing for Cyperbunk 2 to expand on life paths. This feature was one of the more anticipated facets of Cyberpunk 2077, but some fans were disappointed to discover that a player's chosen life path became increasingly irrelevant as one progressed into the game. Although fans are excited that CD Projekt Red has begun working on the presumably ambitious Cyberpunk 2, Cyberpunk 2077 fans had to receive some somewhat disappointing news.
In December, CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.1 was the game's last major content addition, as the studio transitions to focusing on Cyberpunk 2, The Witcher 4, and more. It was a long road, but Cyberpunk 2077 is now in an impressive state that's similar to what CD Projekt Red originally promised.
I couldn't be more excited for this project and I'm sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up.
Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion proved to many fans that CD Projekt Red could be relied on to
