Microsoft reveals the patch notes for the newest Xbox Insider Console Update on the Alpha ring, which adds a number of fixes and improvements for those who are participating. For many fans, January has been a strong month for Microsoft's Xbox division, with Game Pass continuing to offer new games as well as the debut of the Developer's Direct livestream. This year's showcase highlighted some highly anticipated Microsoft first party titles, like Avowed, Ara, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. In addition the Developer's Direct also gave fans their first look at Machinegames' upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Obsidian Entertainment’s next role-playing game, Avowed, is set to release some time this fall, and its director has just given a bit more of an idea of how large its world is going to be. 

A is in the works, with a writer who has experience with the franchise already lined-up.

Details about a potential reveal window for the leaked Xbox controller codenamed «Sebile» have been given additional substance by an industry insider. The Sebile controller was just one part of a larger court document that leaked during Xbox's battle with the FTC over the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which has since been finalized in Xbox's favor. After being announced via a small teaser in 2021, we’re now finally starting to put the pieces together on the mystery that is this new title from MachineGames. While many very popular and successful games have been inspired by the Indiana Jones film franchise, including Uncharted and Tomb Raider, Indy himself has yet to star in a true action-adventure game worthy of his legacy. Will this game be the one to remind audiences who the true pioneer of set-piece action and globe-trotting puzzle-solving is? During the full Xbox Developer Direct, we saw glimpses of the offices of developer MachineGames. As spotted by eagle-eyed viewers, there was a shot of a whiteboard at one point that appeared to have a Quake logo drawn on it underneath writing that seems to say "Quake 6."

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the newly titled next video game starring everyone’s favourite whip-wielding archaeologist, is set in the year 1937. But where does that place it in the grander Indy timeline? Well, we know it’s set in-between the Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the first and third films in the original trilogy respectively. But it’s a little more complicated than just that, with other films and games coming both before and after Dr Jones’ latest adventure. Yesterday Microsoft served up their latest Xbox Developer Direct, which offered reveals and information for a number of games, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, but it seems there was actually another game teased during the show – Quake 6.

Yesterday we got the big reveal of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Bethesda and MachineGames didn’t hold back, revealing quite a bit of first-person gameplay and other info about the game’s approach and story. That said, there were a few lingering questions after the presentation, such as, who’s playing Indy and what kind of tech is powering the game? Well, we now have answers on both.

The Xbox Developer Direct 2024 was a cornucopia of reveals, footage, and information about what's coming to Xbox this year. We got a formal reveal of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a release date for Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga, more information about Obsidian's Avowed, a surprise appearance from Square Enix with an update on Visions of Mana, and an in-depth look at Ara: History Untold. But fans also spotted something else on MachineGames' whiteboard: the words Quake 6, right next to the iconic Quake logo. Naturally, they're freaking out.

Xbox gave fans a good look at what we can expect to be playing over the next year, with deep dives into titles such as Hellblade 2, Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and more. It was a pretty great show full of insight from developers, but fans recently noticed that it may be teasing more than it appears, and if you're a Quake fan, you'll want to pay attention.

Given how impressive Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was, it seemed inevitable that there would be a sequel. The game, despite being made independently by Ninja Theory, blew even the highest-budget games on the market out of the water in terms of graphical fidelity and storytelling. Microsoft realized this potential as well and purchased the studio to provide a bigger budget to the team for the eventual sequel and to secure it as a console exclusive for its then-unreleased Xbox Series X and S systems.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle uses first-person camera angles to create a "unique experience" that you won't find in other action-adventure games like Uncharted or Tomb Raider. 

So, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a first-person game. This has come as a bit of a surprise to some people, who likely were expecting a third-person perspective thanks to not just the Great Circle’s movie roots but also Indiana Jones’ influence on the video game industry. But do you really want another Uncharted game where the only significant difference is that your sarcastic hero now wears a hat? After six Uncharted games, a reboot trilogy of Tomb Raiders, and uncountable third-person adventures going back to the dawn of the medium, I think developer MachineGames has made a wise move in making Indiana Jones first-person.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a new whip-cracking adventure coming from Wolfenstein studio MachineGames and avowed Indy fanboy Todd Howard, was revealed on Thursday to be a first-person game. Well, mostly. Players will see through the eyes of Indiana Jones on a globe-trotting story where they’ll explore ancient temples, recover mysterious artifacts, and punch, shoot, and whip Nazis.

Let’s start this article with a blunt statement: Microsoft is not doing the best right now when you look at its sales of the Xbox Series X/S or even some of the games on its platforms. It’s being blown away by the PlayStation 5, which it launched alongside, and is still being dominated by the Nintendo Switch despite it being seven years old! Microsoft has tried to “stem the tide” in certain ways, like by pushing the Xbox Game Pass, but even that is starting to show flaws. But its gamers are trying to hold onto hope, including by praising the console’s first-party titles coming in 2024.

Three years after it was first teased by Bethesda Softworks, , developed by Machine Games(makers of the modern series), has had a full reveal at the 2024 Developer_Direct from Xbox, revealing many of the game's major characters. As a game set in the same continuity as the movies, includes a number of returning characters, but also includes some additions that are completely new to the game.

MachineGames revealed the first look at its upcoming title, at Xbox's Developer Direct 2024 showcase. The Xbox Series S/X and PC exclusive title was announced back in January 2021, but the showcase finally gave players their first look at gameplay and provided some insight into the story, and when it takes place on the wider timeline.

Ara: History Untold is the historical grand strategy game that’s aiming for a piece of the Civilization pie and spans - check notes thrice - all of human history. But such a complex game wasn't simply plagued by code tangled to emulate centuries of human conflict - cougar hordes were supposedly just as pesky during development. 

MachineGames unveiled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle during yesterday's Xbox Developer Direct with a rather impressive presentation. The developers also seemed genuinely psyched about the project, believing it to be a great match for their own game-making chops. Speaking to the Bethesda blog, Senior Animator Rebecca Elfstrӧm Hidén said:

Cardy, Emma, and Jesse are ready to be excited about the promising-looking Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. They discuss that, as well as other highlights from the Xbox Developer Direct including Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 and Avowed. Cardy's also had the chance to play a few hours of Foamstars which is surprisingly fun. But that isn't all, there's also time to talk about two very different, but two very good films in the shape of The Zone of Interest and The Holdovers.

Nope, Harrison Ford is sadly not voicing the titular tomb raider in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

We should know by now never to count out Indiana Jones. First The Last Crusade was proven to be a misnomer when it was followed up by 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and then even that was replaced as Indy’s final adventure with 2023’s Dial of Destiny.

While we didn’t get a shadow-dropped killer exclusive – and let’s be honest, that’s not an expectation that Team Xbox probably wants to set – we did still get the surprise of a behind-the-scenes look at Square Enix’s upcoming Visions of Mana. Better yet, we got a good look at gameplay from Obsidian’s upcoming first-person RPG Avowed, we got the Hellblade 2 release date we’ve been waiting for, and best of all, we got the proper reveal of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the new first-person (!) action/adventure/puzzler/whip-simulator that’s being executive produced by Elder Scrolls and Fallout director Todd Howard. I’m extremely pleased with Microsoft’s showing, and it helps set the tone for what should be a very good year of Xbox exclusives.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the now-confirmed name of the adventure game in the works at Wolfenstein studio MachineGames under the watchful eye of Bethesda and executive producer Todd Howard, is set between the plots of the first and third films. 

The upcoming features a digital recreation of the eponymous character that looks and sounds a lot like Harrison Ford, allowing players to immerse themselves in a new adventure with the iconic archaeologist. As well-known as this hero of archeology is, nothing created in the franchise would be the same without the image and voice of Harrison Ford.

The upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will see veteran voice actor Troy Baker play the titular treasure hunter. Bethesda revealed that it is working on an Indiana Jones video game back in 2021, with subsidiary Wolfenstein studio MachineGames on developmental duties. There has been very little official information in the years since the Indiana Jones game’s first 30-second teaser trailer was shown, save that it is being produced exclusively for PC and Xbox consoles following Microsoft’s buyout of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media in 2021.
