MachineGames has shown the first full trailer for its Indiana Jones game, revealing that Harrison Ford will reprise his role as the hero – in likeness at least.
The Xbox and PC game, which will be called Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will feature the likeness of Ford, but will be voiced by Troy Baker.
The new adventure, which will also star Tony Todd, takes place between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark (the first movie) and Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (the third movie).
“When the game begins, Indiana is working at Marshall College”, senior narrative designer Edward Curtis-Sivess explains. “He wakes up the middle of the night to the sounds of a break-in and rushes to confront the thief in the college museum.
“The mysterious giant of a man makes off with what seems to be a historically insignificant artifact, sparking Indiana’s curiosity. Following the trail, Indiana heads to the Vatican hoping to learn why this particular relic was stolen, and discovers things aren’t what they appear.”
“He starts pulling at the strings of a mystery,” adds cinematic producer Mitra Askhkan Far, “and it all unravels until he has no choice but to see it through to the end, whatever the end may be.”
According to MachineGames, the game’s locations will range “from the hallowed halls of the Vatican and the arid deserts of Egypt to the lush and sunken temples of Sukhothai and the frigid peaks of the Himalayas”.
The game will mainly be played from a first-person viewpoint, but during cutscenes and certain movements (such as climbing) the camera will switch to a third-person view, so players can see Indy himself.
“Our game is about putting you in the shoes of an iconic hero,” design director Jens Andersson – director of FPS classics Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness – added. “Since we are doing this mostly in first-person, you have the chance to truly become Indy.
“First-person makes you part of this world, allowing you to explore and experience things more intimately. What will you do when you’re dropped into this adventure with your wits and your whip?
“The world of Indiana Jones is a world with mysteries around every corner, where you’re racing against the clock and outsmarting your enemies as you hunt down artifacts.”
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to be released later this year, and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PC and Game Pass.

The Dial of Destiny was one of 2023’s biggest flops but, as many soon-to-be-dead Nazis have discovered, just because you knock Indiana Jones down doesn’t mean he’s out of the count. Wolfenstein developer MachineGames has now unveiled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which allow players to don that fedora and crack that whip.
By far, the biggest reveal at the second Xbox Developer Direct was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The new first-person action/adventure game in development at MachineGames looked great in its first presentation and isn't too far off, either, since it is slated to launch later this year on PC and Xbox Series S|X.
Yesterday we got the big reveal of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Bethesda and MachineGames didn’t hold back, revealing quite a bit of first-person gameplay and other info about the game’s approach and story. That said, there were a few lingering questions after the presentation, such as, who’s playing Indy and what kind of tech is powering the game? Well, we now have answers on both.
It's been almost seven years since Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but our treasure hunting days are about to make a comeback.
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle has really hit the nail on the head when it comes to the voice of its iconic relic-hunting protagonist.
Xbox kicked off its 2024 with a jam-packed Developer Direct showcase, bringing reveals and updates on four upcoming releases from four studios, plus a bonus update from Square Enix. The 45-minute presentation, streamed live on YouTube and Xbox's other social channels late Thursday, took the covers off MachineGames' upcoming Indiana Jones game, provided a release date for the highly anticipated Senua's Saga, and revealed a release window for Avowed, Obsidian's next big fantasy RPG.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle impressed with its lengthy debut showing at Microsoft’s recent Xbox Developer_Direct presentation, and more details on the first-person action-adventure game are continuing to filter through in the aftermath of its unveiling. For instance, we now know what engine it’s being developed on.
The upcoming features a digital recreation of the eponymous character that looks and sounds a lot like Harrison Ford, allowing players to immerse themselves in a new adventure with the iconic archaeologist. The game will occur between the events of the movies and while presenting yet another dangerous worldwide quest that Indy is drawn into. As well-known as this hero of archeology is, nothing created in the franchise would be the same without the image and voice of Harrison Ford.
The upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will see veteran voice actor Troy Baker play the titular treasure hunter. Bethesda revealed that it is working on an Indiana Jones video game back in 2021, with subsidiary Wolfenstein studio MachineGames on developmental duties. There has been very little official information in the years since the Indiana Jones game’s first 30-second teaser trailer was shown, save that it is being produced exclusively for PC and Xbox consoles following Microsoft’s buyout of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media in 2021.
It's official: we've finally gotten our first look at the upcoming Indiana Jones game from Wolfenstein developer MachineGames: it's called Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and it's out later this year.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was the star of the show at the recent Xbox Developer_Direct, with MachineGames debuting its highly anticipated action-adventure title with a host of new details and gameplay footage. Of course, in the lead-up to the game’s showing, whether it would be a third-person experience or a first-person one like MachineGames has been known to make was a question that was being asked by many. That question has been answered.
