Indiana Jones and the Great Circle revealed that Marios Gavrilis is playing the game's villain, Emmerich Voss. During the recent Xbox Developer Direct, MachineGames offered a look into the villain.
The new Indiana Jones game was first announced over two years ago by Bethesda, which recruited MachineGames to lead development for the next Indy story. Fans might recognize MachineGames for its Wolfenstein reboots, which feature fast-paced shooter action and solid storytelling. MachineGames confirmed that its Indiana Jones game will feature that and more, incorporating puzzle solving and third-person environmental traversal. Recently, MachineGames and Bethesda revealed another interesting detail regarding the game's development.
In a video posted to Marios Gavrilis' Twitter account, the actor revealed that he is playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's Emmerich Voss character. The game's lead game designer, Jerk Gustafsson, explained that Voss' main inspiration in life is to unearth the world's major mysteries, making him quite similar to Indiana Jones. However, the two went down completely different roads, as Voss is a high-ranking Nazi scientist who uses fear and pain to get his way. The development team previously described Voss as a psychological, intelligent, and obsessive man who is determined to master the human mind and learn how to manipulate it. Gavrilis ended his video by telling fans that there is a «lot more» Indiana Jones and the Great Circle news coming in the future.
Gavrilis will star alongside Troy Baker in the newIndiana Jones game, who is playing the titular character. Fans will probably recognize Baker for his roles as Joel in The Last of Us and Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite. Gavrilis isn't as established in the video game acting world, but his credits include voicing the German versions of Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding, Alexios in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and Dani Rojas in Far Cry 6.
Fans can expect to see Baker and Gavrilis' characters among the confirmed locations for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. During his globe-trotting journey, Indy will stop in the Vatican City, Thailand's Sukhothai Temples, the Himalayas, and the pyramids of Giza. These are only the locations confirmed in the game's trailer, so there are likely more that are still unrevealed.
Indiana Jones and Emmerich Voss' rivalry takes place in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. Some fans speculated that this setting opens the door for some interesting cameos from previous Indiana Jones characters, such as Marion Ravenwood or Sallah.
Bethesda’s upcoming game is reportedly being considered to launch on Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, despite being initially advertised as an Xbox exclusive.
The Dial of Destiny was one of 2023’s biggest flops but, as many soon-to-be-dead Nazis have discovered, just because you knock Indiana Jones down doesn’t mean he’s out of the count. Wolfenstein developer MachineGames has now unveiled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which allow players to don that fedora and crack that whip.
By far, the biggest reveal at the second Xbox Developer Direct was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The new first-person action/adventure game in development at MachineGames looked great in its first presentation and isn't too far off, either, since it is slated to launch later this year on PC and Xbox Series S|X.
The upcoming video game tosses the intrepid archaeologist into a deadly adventure once more, and that journey looks like it will face him up against foes who are as dastardly as ever. Starting with rival archaeologist René Belloq and the army of Nazis on his side in, villains tend to be memorable parts of stories that are full of set pieces and surprises galore. Indiana always triumphs, of course, but his enemies are often done in by their hubris as much as they are by his wits.

As a game set in the same continuity as the movies, includes a number of returning characters, but also includes some additions that are completely new to the game.

Xbox kicked off its 2024 with a jam-packed Developer Direct showcase, bringing reveals and updates on four upcoming releases from four studios, plus a bonus update from Square Enix. The 45-minute presentation, streamed live on YouTube and Xbox's other social channels late Thursday, took the covers off MachineGames' upcoming Indiana Jones game, provided a release date for the highly anticipated Senua's Saga, and revealed a release window for Avowed, Obsidian's next big fantasy RPG.
The upcoming features a digital recreation of the eponymous character that looks and sounds a lot like Harrison Ford, allowing players to immerse themselves in a new adventure with the iconic archaeologist. The game will occur between the events of the movies and while presenting yet another dangerous worldwide quest that Indy is drawn into. As well-known as this hero of archeology is, nothing created in the franchise would be the same without the image and voice of Harrison Ford.
The upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will see veteran voice actor Troy Baker play the titular treasure hunter. Bethesda revealed that it is working on an Indiana Jones video game back in 2021, with subsidiary Wolfenstein studio MachineGames on developmental duties. There has been very little official information in the years since the Indiana Jones game’s first 30-second teaser trailer was shown, save that it is being produced exclusively for PC and Xbox consoles following Microsoft’s buyout of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media in 2021.
