Microsoft reveals the patch notes for the newest Xbox Insider Console Update on the Alpha ring, which adds a number of fixes and improvements for those who are participating. For many fans, January has been a strong month for Microsoft's Xbox division, with Game Pass continuing to offer new games as well as the debut of the Developer's Direct livestream. This year's showcase highlighted some highly anticipated Microsoft first party titles, like Avowed, Ara, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. In addition the Developer's Direct also gave fans their first look at Machinegames' upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Alongside games, Microsoft has continued to strengthen its offering to players, with the most recent example being the purchase of ActivisionBlizzard last year after a lengthy process. In fact, new rumors have recently surfaced that Microsoft may be in talks with Sony over bringing Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Xbox. Currently, the Square Enix title is available on PS4, PS5, and PC, with no indication that a port would be brought to any other platforms. In the meantime, Microsoft has continued to update the Xbox console with the latest update for Insiders adding a number of fixes and other improvements.
In a new post on the Xbox Newswire website, Microsoft revealed the latest patch notes for the recent update for those apart of the Insider program. Xbox Insiders get to see updates and other features early, typically involved in testing and providing feedback before it goes live to everyone. Following a new round of feedback from Xbox players, a new improvement has been made to the Alpha ring including a system change that now properly reflects local languages across the console. Microsoft warns that its possible some users participating in the Preview may see «odd» text across the console, which is known as pseudo-loc, or text that has yet to be localized for a certain language or region.
The patch notes from Microsoft also highlight a number of known issues that engineers are aware of but are yet to have a fix. These include issues with the Xbox console being unable to connect to the user's network as expected when it boots up as well as other intermittent issues related to audio across the dashboard, games, and other locations. Naturally, Microsoft advises Xbox owners to use the console's ability to report a problem and include relevant details like when the issue started, what resolutions were tried, and other troubleshooting details.
With all of these announcements so far in January and with some big games coming in 2024, Microsoft is hoping to not only keep sales of its Xbox consoles strong, but to keep Game Pass rolling along. While updates to the subscriber numbers have not been provided
