Tales Of Kenzera: Zau is an upcoming Metroidvania game that integrates the aesthetics of Afrofuturism and the culture surrounding Bantu mythology. The game aims to utilize the challenges posed by the Metroidvania format to explore themes of grief. Published by EA, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is expected to release on April 23 on PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Stealth platformer Ereban: Shadow Legacy recently resurfaced with a new trailer, with developer Baby Robot Games announcing that the game will be launching for PC in April. It was announced at the same time that the game would no longer be published by Raw Fury, while the status of its Game Pass launch was also unclear.

No one could have expected that Palworld would go on to become one of 2024’s biggest success stories in the games industry. The first new content update for Pocketpair’s Palworld since its early access launch has been revealed, and it’s a raid boss. Bellanoir is a “powerful evil Pal” laying siege to the Palpagos Islands, but taking her on is reserved for “only the most skilled.” There’s currently no date for her arrival, but it’s “soon.”

The games industry’s health is looking fragile right now, to say the very least, thanks in no small part to the mass layoffs it’s been hit with over the last year and a half, and the ballooning costs of developing games have contributed to that significantly. In recent months, there’s been no shortage of reports about games that have cost eye-watering sums of money just to get made- though there are, thankfully, at least some examples of games being made on small budgets and going on to find incredible success.

With Saber Interactive splitting from the Embracer Group in a $247 million deal, there’s the question of which projects the developer is still handling. In a recent announcement, Nightdive Studios confirmed that the System Shock remake will soon be making its way to PlayStation and Xbox in May. Available on PC since 2023, the remake of System Shock overhauls the immersive sim shooter. This new version brings numerous additions and quality-of-life improvements, such as improved visuals, better player movement, and a fresh ending in the final showdown with SHODAN.

As per the information provided by the studio, the upcoming game will feature a total of ten vocations and an intricate character creation tool, which allows players to make distinctive heroes.

A Dragon’s Dogma 2 player has used the game’s character creation system to make a hero inspired by the Gigachad meme. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is not even out yet, as it’ll only be released on March 22, but it’s already catching the attention of the community with these amazing creations.

The Season 2 trailer of The Finals is out, in which brand-new gadgets, a new gameplay mode, and even more are shown off. Released in December 2023, The Finals was met with warm reception for its tight gameplay and slick design while iterating on the team-based first-person shooter genre. Capcom and director Hideaki Itsuno’s vision for the original Dragon’s Dogma was to develop a purely single player experience that, through the use of its AI-controlled companions known as Pawns, would emulate the feeling of an MMORPG with other players. The upcoming, long overdue Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to expand on its predecessor in a number of ways – from a larger open world to how much content it’ll offer and much more – but that focus on delivering a purely single player experience isn’t changing.

If it weren’t obvious already, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a big game. Capcom has discussed how the world is four times larger than the original and the sheer amount of side content, which some may players may end up skipping. However, when speaking to Automaton-Media, director Hideaki Itsuno revealed that it may actually be much larger than initially announced.

From newcomers like the Mystic Spearhand and the Trickster to returning favourites like the Fighter and the Warrior, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to offer a number of different Vocations for players to play as, each offering a completely different play style. Unlike the first game, however, in the sequel, each Vocation is going to be much more limited in what it’ll be able to do, in that each of them will generally specialize in a single weapon type.

After releasing in open beta in 2022, MultiVersus was available for players to dive into for nearly a year, but after going offline in June the following year, the game went almost entirely MIA. The free-to-play Smash Bros.-inspired fighter certainly drew some criticism due to its server issues, aggressive monetiztion, and lackluster progression (among other things), but it was also massively popular, and soon, it’ll be making its return to the limelight.

Much has been said about Dragon’s Dogma 2, especially with new previews and a free Character Creator going live last week. The last few months have made it quite clear that the console market hasn’t grown the way the likes of Microsoft and Sony would have wanted. Xbox sales have been inconsistent at best for a while now, and PS5 recently also missed its sales targets by a notable margin. Combined with the mass layoffs the games industry has been hit with over the last 14 months (and 2024 in particular) – with the likes of PlayStation, Microsoft, EA, Riot Games, Embracer Group, and many others have cut a significant number of jobs – it’s no surprise that questions are being asked about the future of the business louder than they have been in a while.

Exclusivity has become much less hard-and-fast than it was for so long in the games industry, to the extent that even first parties are now beginning to explore multiplatform releases. PlayStation games routinely show up on PC, and Xbox accelerated its multiplatform efforts with both PS5 and Switch releases with the likes of Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League finally launched last month, and it’s fair to say that it hasn’t got off to a great start. It was met with mixed reception (at best) from critics and audiences and has failed to attract a sizeable player base, with publisher WB Games recently saying that it had fallen short of commercial expectations.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint was a bit of a dumpster fire, and Ghost Recon Frontline got cancelled in response to widespread backlash against its core premise, so the last few years have definitely been rough for the Ghost Recon franchise. Even so, though a new game hasn’t yet been officially announced, it seems safe to assume, given the magnitude of the franchise, that Ubisoft does have plans for a new game in the series. Now, a report published by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has shed light on alleged details about that next instalment.

The new open-world adventure game of battling and catching creatures, exploring, and base-building, is continuing to roll through early access, and is showing no signs of losing momentum. Vanillaware’s Unicorn Overlord is out today, and as a tactical role-playing game from the team behind 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, it offers intriguing combat options, bonding between its dozens of characters and a gorgeous art style. It also has the developer’s most amount of content to date.

That Unicorn Overlord is developer Vanillaware’s most ambitious title to date is hardly in doubt. The tactical fantasy RPG is packed full of content, boasting over 60 playable characters, over a hundred hours of gameplay, and more, and it seems like the studio ran into some notable financial issues trying to get the game made.

No one could have predicted that Helldivers 2 would have taken off the way it did, and we’re continuing to see more evidence of just how well Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony’s co-op shooter has performed since its release last month. In the UK, for instance, it was the best-selling game for the month of February by quite some margin, as per data revealed by the GSD that includes both physical and digital sales (via GamesIndustry). 

An Uno player has discovered that Ubisoft has finally issued a fix for the game's multiplayer component after a couple of years of being unplayable online. This adaptation of Uno was rated fairly well when it released for the Xbox One and other platforms back in 2016, but loyal fans were disappointed that multiplayer hadn't been working properly for quite a while now.

More than three years on from its announcement, little is known about Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game even now, but little snippets of information have nonetheless emerged here and there.
