It’s April Fools’ Day yet again, so social media is rife with fake announcements and gags to celebrate. The video game industry also loves making these jokes, and while not all of them land well, one of the funniest this year comes from The Pokémon Company and Pokémon Sleep.

I never planned to watch Sex and the City. Nothing I heard about the series drew me to it in particular. While Dragonflight Patch 10.2.6 has players focused on Plunderstorm and Season 4, Noblegarden is also teased to have updates this year! One of those updates is the Duck Disguiser toy, which allows players to transform into a tiny duck of various colors. Alongside the Duck Disguiser toy are six color variations: Mallard Duck Disguise, White Duck Disguise, Black Duck Disguise, Brown Duck Disguise, Yellow Duck Disguise, and Pink Duck Disguise. There's also a 7th mechanical duck model, though it doesn't have an associated disguise. Although ducks may not seem to have much to do with Noblegarden, it makes a bit more sense than you might think. Despite a distinct lack of rabbits in the Dragon Isles, ducks are plentiful and have been a popular highlight over the course of the expansion: from emotes, to sidequests, and even a new version of polymorph! For more hard evidence, the Lovely Duckling pet was added in Patch 10.2.5, alongside the duck shifting druid, Daetan Swiftplume and his special Noble Flying Carpet drop, the flavor text outright confirming that at least one duck is involved in the holiday update.

Reports of a mysterious affliction infecting the Pawns of Dragon's Dogma 2 players, the AI-assisted NPC companion each player creates, have begun to trickle in. This sinister disease is known as Dragonsplague and affected Pawns will exhibit red glowing eyes, incoherent speech, disobedience, and increased aggression. Letting one into your party can have catastrophic, permanent consequences for your game world and inadvertently spread to others. This is an evolving situation. An encrypted message has come down from Super Earth High Command (developer Arrowhead Game Studios), ordering all available Helldivers 2 players to immediately embark on a «defensive annihilation» campaign against the Automatons' homeworlds. Shadows Of The Damned launched during a fascinating part of the PS3 era, where EA suddenly started publishing smaller titles, like the equally iconic Alice: Madness Returns. And as previously reported it’s getting a PS5 and PS4 remaster, due out later this year.

Square Enix has started a documentary series which delves into the creation of the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This first episode, Shaping the World, discusses how the developer reimagined the original game’s sprawling PS1 map into an enormous PS5 sandbox. Helldivers 2 players have reported encountering unsanctioned Super Earth weaponry and equipment in the wild since the game first launched. Rise of the Ronin has been out for just over a week now, and so we want to know what you think of Team Ninja's open world action RPG. Published by Sony itself, this PS5 exclusive was met with somewhat divided reviews, and so currently sits at a 76 on Metacritic. User impressions have been more lenient overall, but it's still hard to shake the feeling that Rise of the Ronin has struggled to make any kind of significant impact.

Dragon's Dogma 2 continues to be the gift that keeps giving, with players reporting overnight the discovery of how to use the many catapults trebuchets (and ballista) left scattered around Capcom's reactive game world (though some are clearly destroyed). Even more exciting, the power and torque of these beautiful machines of siege warfare, reputedly able to launch 90kg projectiles over 300 meters in reality, can be used to smash open previously undiscovered secret areas in the game.

Xbox’s anticipated mid-generation console refresh might be right around the corner. Over the past few weeks, there have been some rumblings that an all-white Xbox Series X may be coming this year. That rumor kicked into second gear when Exputer posted photos it says it received of the device. The leaked images show a standard Xbox Series X with a white casing. The design is about the same, but there’s one key difference: It doesn’t have a disk drive. If the rumors are proven true, that’ll be the system’s selling point, potentially putting it at a lower price point than the current Series X.

Princess Peach officially has two games, the last one having released 20 years ago called Super Princess Peach. Netflix is bringing its hit social media-themed reality show/competition The Circle back for Season 6 starting Wednesday, April 17 with a four-episode premiere. Glass Cannon Unplugged have just launched their Kickstarter campaign funding Don’t Starve: The Board Game.   We've seen plenty of the best board games come out in the past few years but Kickstarter-funded tabletop adaptations of video games are really having a moment right now. It was just last month that Glass Cannon Unplugged announced they were working on Dying Light: The Board Game, adding that to their expansive portfolio of board games like This War of Mine: The Board Game and Apex Legends: The Board Game (which we were very fond of when we previewed it). Gameplay wise, Don't Starve: The Board Game promises to be chock-full of "mechanics highlighting player choice, dynamic combat, and open-world exploration in night and day conditions". From the looks of the game’s box art and promotional materials, it also keeps that charming Tim Burton-esque art style that players have come to know and love. Turns out that expansions and add-ons are already on the cards too.

Stardew Valleymight be primarily known as a farming sim where you can also romance the village locals, but there’s way more to do than just plant crops. In fact, there is so much to do that it can sometimes be overwhelming to plan out your days. Do you go fishing or to the mines? Do you stay at home or explore a new island?
