Cult Classic Shadows of the Damned Gets Hella Remastered for PS5, PS4 | Push Square

Comedy RPG Athenian Rhapsody will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC via Steam and GOG, iOS, and Android on May 14, publisher Top Hat Studios and developer Nico Papalia announced.

Grasshopper Manufacture's Suda51 has confirmed two new features that are being added with Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. These two new features are a New Game Plus mode and more outfits for the game's protagonist, Garcia Hotspur. Grasshopper Manufacture's upcoming remaster of this underrated 2011 third-person comedy horror shooter will launch sometime later in 2024.

The early months of 2024 have seen Microsoft stepping up its efforts to bring its first-party Xbox titles to audiences on rival platforms, with Hi-Fi Rush having released for PS5 and Obsidian duo Pentiment and Grounded both having launched for PS5 and Switch. Sea of Thieves arrives for PS5 later this month, and though Microsoft hasn’t officially announced further plans to bring any other of its games to rival consoles beyond that, reports continue to insist that there’s more stuff in the pipeline.

Sony's official update on additions to PS Plus Extra and Premium usually arrive a couple of weeks into a given month, but it looks like one of April's retro classics has already been discovered. Fans of rail shooters, John Williams, or both, prepare yourselves — Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire looks set to join the classics catalogue soon.

After digging up some fresh evidence, Minecraft fans are getting excited about what appears to be a proper PS5 port of the sandbox-'em-up.

Due to hit shelves sometime in 2024, fans of the original 2011 title are eager to return to the bizarre world of Garcia Hotspur. Apparently, the game’s writer Suda51 is also extremely interested.

When it comes to cult classics, you probably won't be able to find a developer out there as consistent with them as Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Shadows of the Damned are all very well-liked games that never blew anyone away in terms of sales, but the quirky and unique elements of Suda's games have given him a very loyal and adoring fanbase.

Shadows of the Damned was released way back in 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a collaboration between two of the most iconic Japanese video game makers: Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil fame) and Goichi Suda, otherwise known as Suda51. Although the hyper-violent, third-person corridor shooter/action-adventure romp didn't make waves with its sales, critics were pretty positive. And now, after 13 long years, Grasshopper and Suda are bringingShadows of the Damned back with theHella Remastered edition, launching sometime this year.

Just over a year ago, Shinji Mikami - he of directing the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 fame - was confirmed to be leaving Tango Gameworks, the studio that he had co-founded over a decade earlier to create a modern successor to his survival-horror classics, The Evil Within.

Grasshopper Manufacture has revealed all the platforms that the upcoming Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will launch on. This Shadows of the Damned remaster was first announced last June, surprising several gamers. Shadows of the Damned is considered an underrated title by Grasshopper Manufacture that hasn't had a modern release in over a decade, being delisted from digital stores in 2021.

Resident Evil 9 is reportedly being developed as an open-world game.

The second expansion for Final Fantasy 16, titled The Rising Tide, now has an official launch date. It arrives on the 18th April, and costs $19.99 if you're buying it by itself. The Expansion Pass, priced at $24.99, gets you this second DLC and the previously released Echoes of the Fallen.
