After digging up some fresh evidence, Minecraft fans are getting excited about what appears to be a proper PS5 port of the sandbox-'em-up.
The PS4 edition of Minecraft is of course playable on PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility, but it's a rickety old version at this point. The Xbox version was updated at the end of last year with 4K support, so players are hoping for similar treatment with a native PS5 port.
This story stems from Reddit user the_andshrew, who's discovered what looks like a PS5 version of Minecraft on the PS Store's backend. They list several title ID numbers and an image that's no doubt the icon art from the Store page.
In addition, PlayStation Game Size, an account that closely follows the movements of the PS Store, has confirmed it in typically concise form:

Cyube VR anyone? I know they are different game. Both are fun.
Hopefully free upgrade and auto pop trophies.
Just......why? Given the platforms it's already on, seems utterly pointless.
And it will sell millions.
PSVR2 version please! Even if it still just the Dualsense controller, please let me have those colors and the clarity of the PSVR2.
PS VR2 would be awesome!
@Gigawatt-Kapow yes please. Improved lighting makes it look like a whole new game.
@sanderson72 Load times and draw distance are molasses on some consoles. I doubt it's going to improve, but the game doesn't run great for having such simple graphics.
