Helldivers 2 players are arguing over what objectives to focus on, and getting upset with each other for going after the "wrong" planets.
In Helldivers 2, progress is shared, with each player contributing to the effort against the bugs and bots. While this typically gives the community a sense of camaraderie, we're now seeing some fans shame others into making non-optimal decisions, especially when they're not focusing on completing major orders.
Various debates about what planets Helldivers should be focussing on are taking place throughout the fanbase, especially in the subreddit. Here, many are frustrated to see so many players focus on Malevelon Creek - otherwise known as "Space Vietnam" - instead of the other planets that are in more dire need of liberating.
"Creekers kept demanding us to come to the Bot front and now that we have they won't leave their Creek to either help take Ubanea or defend Draupnir," says Reddit user OrranVoriel. "Help with the Major Order and Defense Order at Draupnir and you can go back to your Creek once we have taken Tibit!"
With Creek being such an infamous planet in Helldivers 2, some say it's inevitable that others in the area are being neglected. However, some argue that there's too much of a focus on the major order in the first place, leaving the bug planets neglected. Others tell their fellow Helldivers to pay attention to supply lines, and strategically attack planets to affect the wider war effort.
"Creekers" refers to Helldivers 2 players who exclusively play on Malevelon Creek.
It's a lot to keep in mind. If, like many of us, you didn't know what supply lines are, here's a fan-made guide going over it all. Basically, they're what determines which planets are available to play on. If you lose a planet in the supply line, you could lose others that everyone is trying to liberate. In other words, the progress on Creek won't matter if players lose access to it altogether because another planet was lost.
Of course, some players just don't want to be told what to do, making it a little tense. "After the sheer amount of bot hate on here last week I don't give a flying democracy what the creekers do with their time," says Shwagoblin. "This sub is full of babies and hypocrisy."
"For the love of Democracy, stop complaining about the 6% of players on the Creek and start worrying about the nearly half of players messing around on the Bug front and losing every planet they're on," agrees LignumofVitae.
"Just let people play wherever they want," says Solid_Profile9671. "It is just a game."
Whatever happens with the latest major order, we're seeing a divide in the often lighthearted Helldivers 2 community. It's a shame to see this happen in a game focused on working
