The community may be pleased with itself for repelling the Automatons and crushing the bots in Operation Swift Disassembly but the Bots have other plans as Arrowhead Studios announces that the enemy faction is back with a mighty counterattack. Having fought long and hard to reclaim the territories on the Western frontier of the galaxy, Helldivers finally earned some downtime as, for a brief moment, peace seemed to be at hand. Unfortunately, the moment didn't last and Arrowhead Studios is calling on players to respond to a massive Automaton invasion fleet.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), announced that the Automaton forces had regrouped, noting that the army that was destroyed during Operation Swift Disassembly was merely a vanguard for the rest of the fleet.
The Valdis Sector is now under attack and Helldivers are being summoned to defend several planets in the North-West sector as the Bots move to take Cyberstan, the homeworld of their creators. What happens if they reach the planet remains unknown but players are gathering en masse to push back the deadly forces of the Automatons.
While players may have successfully eradicated the Automaton vanguard, that doesn't mean the enemy faction will just roll over and let Super Earth retain control over Cyberstand. During the closing days of Operation Swift Disassembly, the Bots managed to introduce several new units into the fray that proved especially difficult to destroy. Most notably, the four-legged Factory Strider managed to take the community by surprise in that it not only served as a mobile means to produce more Automatons but could also withstand the explosion of a massive 500kg bomb.
What new tools the Automatons have up their metallic sleeves remains to be seen but Helldivers are preparing for the worst. Arrowhead Studios has a habit of including secret additions in every patch or update it releases for so the community is bracing to uncover a powerful new enemy unit. Many speculate that the Bots could eventually unleash Cyberhounds, a foe that was present in the original and proved to be an especially difficult beast to kill.
While places most of its current focus on the Automatons, players shouldn't forget that the Terminds are still a threat as their assault on the Eastern side of the galaxy has yet to be halted. They may be contained but that doesn't mean they're no longer a threat to Super Earth. How Arrowhead plans on expanding the unfolding narrative around the various enemy factions remains unknown but regardless, the community is loving every second of the massive emergent story.

While the franchise may be known for blitzing through demon-infested halls as fast as possible while also gunning down hordes of monsters, one dedicated speedrunner managed to do it faster than anyone else, shattering a long-standing world record. Given the games' emphasis on speed, it's no wonder why id Software's seminal first-person shooters are so popular amongst the speedrunning community. It's a game that's incredibly accessible to learn but infinitely difficult to master, so much so that many believe some of the older records are impossible to beat but every once in a while, someone proves the naysayers wrong.

Two months after its release, players can finally 100% complete the massive RPG as the game's latest patch fixes a lingering glitch.
