Helldivers 2 director's "childhood dream" is for the co-op shooter to join the pantheon of PlayStation's biggest IP: "It's crazy that it might be in the future"

Helldivers 2's creative director has responded to a fan-made pitch for some new objectives that could be added to the popular third-person shooter, and it turns out that developer Arrowhead already tried out a very similar idea years ago.

Helldivers 2's popularity is still sky-high, but more and more demands have been flooding in lately for developer Arrowhead to put a greater focus on squashing bugs rather than adding new content, something which the devs have pointed out isn't exactly straightforward. It's rather ironic, really, given the game's massive focus on killing democracy-hating bugs.

Fire is out of control in Helldivers 2, but thankfully Arrowhead knows this and is working on a fix.

Helldivers 2 director Johan Pilestedt says the game's ammo boosters were inspired by his time serving in the military.

Earlier this week, the servers supporting online services for all 3DS and Wii U games met their end. Although it's a sad time for anyone who has a place in their heart for the games affected, the community efforts that have followed since are so wholesome that it almost makes the whole thing worth it. A new Helldivers 2 patch fixes plenty of in-game crashes, after developer Arrowhead had to recommend players let the game "rest" this past weekend due to persistent crashes.

There's only good news in the world of Helldivers 2 today following the successful completion of Operation Swift Disassembly, the recent Major Order to crush the Automatons in Arrowhead's popular multiplayer game. Not only is the galaxy free once more, but all Helldivers have received a special gift in the form of a minute-long break inclusive of the time it takes to read the announcement. Congratulations, folks; you earned it.

Two months after the launch of Helldivers 2, one of its enemy factions, the Automatons, has been wiped out. Arrowhead Game Studios issued a new Major Order, “Swift Disassembly” two weeks ago to destroy the entire faction, and players have seemingly succeeded. This is despite the Automatons deploying new walker-like Factory Striders and gunships.

Helldivers 2 grunts are preparing for the worst after liberating three planets in just a few days to end the Automaton threat once and for all, presumably.

Helldivers 2's ongoing Major Order has commanded soldiers to finally squash the mechanized Automatons on the western front, but unfortunately, frequent crashes threaten to jeopardize the weekend's operation, and one developer recommends letting the game "rest." 

The developers behind Helldivers 2 didn't expect many players to join the assault on the Automatons, but surprisingly, a whopping 70% of the player base joined the fight for tyrannical democracy.
