Two months after the launch of Helldivers 2, one of its enemy factions, the Automatons, has been wiped out. Arrowhead Game Studios issued a new Major Order, “Swift Disassembly” two weeks ago to destroy the entire faction, and players have seemingly succeeded. This is despite the Automatons deploying new walker-like Factory Striders and gunships.
While this is cause for celebration, especially since the Terminids are also “contained,” it could mean the arrival of the mysterious faction randomly firing blue lasers on some planets. Datamining suggest it’s The Illuminate, a faction from the first game with highly advanced technology, including powerful weapons.
With the new Premium Warbond out on April 11th, perhaps we’ll see them step out of the shadows. Stay tuned for more details. Helldivers 2 is available for PS5 and PC. Check out our review for the base game here. TD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz estimates over eight million copies were sold in the first five weeks of its release.

The latest Helldivers 2 Major Order is live, and it simply tasks Super Earth's soldiers with squishing two billion Terminids in right around six days.
Following a recent update that increased the amount of fire damage per tick, Arrowhead Game Studios confirms that it has plans to tone down the devastating effects in Helldivers 2. After a record-setting launch back in February, Helldivers 2 continues to maintain its impressive player numbers thanks in large part to how dynamic the game world feels. With the galactic map and missions constantly changing, Arrowhead Game Studios has managed to support the game through a live service system with consistent patches, quality of life updates, and new content to check out.
The last few days have been rough for Helldivers 2 players, to say the least. As the weekend began, we were hit with a new Major Order – halt the Automaton advance and hold the Menkent line, maintaining complete control over Menkent and Lesath in the process. It's just two planets, so simple enough, right?
Helldivers 2's popularity continues to be immense, and one senior game designer at Naughty Dog has been gushing about what they believe to be the main reason why – its focus on immersion.
Helldivers 2 players are loving the new defense mission type, which they think is better than others. Although Helldivers 2 players completed Operation Swift Disassembly and eradicated the Automaton faction last week, the second wave of the robotic enemies has now returned to the game with the latest update. They have launched an assault on planets across the galaxy with a massive fleet to change the tides of the Galactic War.
borrows a lot of things from the first game, but skips out on multiple enemy factions — not just the Illuminate. At launch and up until the time of writing, Helldivers 2 has had two enemy factions: the Terminids (Bugs) and the Automatons (Bots). However, with the recent total success of the Major Order "", it appears the Automatons have finally been eradicated once and for all. Of course, there's always a chance they'll return, but for the time being, players are left to wonder what comes next.
Did you really think Helldivers 2 players had wiped out the Automatons for good? Nope.
A new Helldivers 2 patch fixes plenty of in-game crashes, after developer Arrowhead had to recommend players let the game "rest" this past weekend due to persistent crashes.
There's only good news in the world of Helldivers 2 today following the successful completion of Operation Swift Disassembly, the recent Major Order to crush the Automatons in Arrowhead's popular multiplayer game. Not only is the galaxy free once more, but all Helldivers have received a special gift in the form of a minute-long break inclusive of the time it takes to read the announcement. Congratulations, folks; you earned it.
Helldivers 2 players have completed their mission to completely eradicate the Automaton threat from the galaxy map, leaving many to wonder what new threat might arise to imperil Super Earth and stem the spread of managed democracy.
Helldivers 2 grunts are preparing for the worst after liberating three planets in just a few days to end the Automaton threat once and for all, presumably.
Helldivers 2's ongoing Major Order has commanded soldiers to finally squash the mechanized Automatons on the western front, but unfortunately, frequent crashes threaten to jeopardize the weekend's operation, and one developer recommends letting the game "rest."
