Xbox Game Pass has added another day one game, Lightyear Frontier,which is launching in early access on March 19. Developed by Frame Break, the indie game combines farming sim with mech gameplay, and adventurers can explore the colorful open world of Lightyear Frontier solo or co-op with up to three friends. Players will use their mech’s machine gun to plant seeds or equip it with a chainsaw to gather resources while establishing a homestead on a distant planet.

SNK’s library of fighting franchises tend bleed into each other a bit, but back in the day, the company was best-known for the Fatal Fury series. Eventually, the King of Fighters series, which included characters from multiple SNK games, largely supplanted Fatal Fury, but now we’re getting a Furious return. While they teased it previously, today SNK officially announced Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which will combine classic gameplay with the new “REV” system. Much like Street Fighter 6, the new Fatal Fury will also introduce a more casual “Smart Style” mode that will allow you to easily pull off special moves. With all of the gory appeal of a cheesy horror movie, The Outlast Trials works even better than it did when I played it in Early Access last year. There’s just something magical about hiding with your besties in wardrobes and under beds as a deeply rude lady with a power drill for a hand hunts you down. What better way to spend a Friday night with the lads? Each of its death games is unique and filled with devilish and gruesome horrors, including formidable killers with cunning and lethal AI, and upgrading your character’s abilities and gadgets is a fantastic reward for surviving all those bloody corridors. Its biggest weakness is that there just aren’t that many levels to play, which isn’t a great feeling when matches are supposed to be all about striking fear into you and your BFFs. Still, my crew and I had a lot of fun with The Outlast Trials, even if that novelty bled out quicker than we would have liked.

The PlayStation, Xbox Series, and PC versions are newly announced—the 2D action adventure RPG was originally announced for Switch on February 21.

Nightingale is a game of fascinating contradictions. While I’m still early on in the Early Access version of this co-op survival crafting game, it’s already jumping wildly between intriguing and confusing, aesthetically pleasing and outright ugly, intuitive and obtuse. It does a lot right, and I can see the potential of building a life from the ground up in this mysterious land – but it also does a lot wrong, particularly with how much time and effort it takes to make meaningful progress. I have a lot more to play before I put a score on this review, but so far I can’t quite tell if Nightingale's rough spots will eventually become part of its charm or hold its otherwise interesting ideas back.

Sker Ritual is a big shift from the atmospheric stealth horror Maid of Sker that came out a couple of years ago. Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series introduced a world comprised of four different nations, each one modeled after four basic elements that can be controlled by certain people known as “Benders.” At the heart of the show’s story is Aang, the titular Avatar who can command all four elements, and his growing group of friends who must work together to stop the oppressive Fire Nation from conquering the world.
