Xbox‘s upcoming Perfect Dark reboot is reportedly facing challenges, and is in “a very rough state.”

Video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed that growth for video game subscriptions has been stalled. According to Piscatella, spending on non-mobile game subscriptions only rose by 1 percent compared to April 2023.

Street Fighter 6 has been a smash hit for Capcom, and the Japanese gaming giant is already hard at work on post-launch content for the same. It was previously announced that franchise favourite character Akuma would be coming to the game as a playable character. The developer also released an OST for Akuma’s theme, check it out down below.

Dambuster Studios launched its second story expansion for Dead Island 2 last month with SoLA, just in time for the action RPG’s first anniversary. In a new blog post, the developer thanked fans for their support and confirmed over seven million players for the title, who have slayed 24 billion zombies.

While the closed alpha test for Marvel Rivals is still a day away, the game has already been datamined with a host of new details about the title being revealed. As part of the datamine, some of the game’s playable characters, as well as NPCs have been revealed.

While previously alleged for May, the gameplay reveal of Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is seemingly happening at Ubisoft Forward on June 10th. Sources speaking to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson revealed that press and content creators will go hands-on with it during the Summer Games Fest week, with the embargo ending on June 12th.

Developer Evil Raptor and publisher Plaion have announced a new third-person action title, Akimbot. Slated for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Akimbot will be out later this year. MUTAN has announced four Goonya Monster spin-off games: hopping action game Toad’s Soul Hopper, runner game Pirarucu’s Money Rush, shooting game Snail’s Knock Out, and balance physics puzzle game Octo’s Balloon Challenge. All four titles are planned for release in Early Access for PC via Steam. Release dates were not announced.

Retro dungeon maker Quest Master will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on May 29, publisher Apogee Entertainment and developer Skydevilpalm announced.

It’s coming up on three years since the sequel to Darkest Dungeon hit early access, and over a year since it exited early access into 1.0. That means, however you count the days, it’s been a long time coming for one of the original game’s features to find its way into Darkest Dungeon 2: mod support.

Despite being hugely allergic to horses - my eyes once swelled up so severely at a local fair my wife had to guide me home - I continue to be absolutely spellbound by the animals. A recent update for procgen whodunnit sim Shadows of Doubt added "Sharpshooter Assassins" with high-powered rifles to the game's glowering alternate-1980s cities, with players having to work out the killer's vantage point by deducing a bullet's trajectory, before proceeding to a secondary crime scene to search for a murder weapon and witnesses. The prospect of snipers certainly adds menace to the game's forensic sandboxing. The trouble is, the shooters aren't always as sharp as they could be.

Microsoft has been catching flak after the closure of Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, Roundhouse Studios and Alpha Dog Studios. While Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty assured employees of upcoming Bethesda releases in an internal email, its other projects are an entirely different matter. The Initiative’s Perfect Dark, announced in December 2020, is a good example.

After five years of development, two of those in early access, Stunlock Studios’ V Rising is now available on PC. The action RPG sees players as vampires who suddenly awaken in a world of humans. #DRIVE Rally will launch in Early Access for PC and Mac via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG this fall, followed by a full launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC in 2025, developer Pixel Perfect Dude announced.

Super Spin Digital will release kinetic rhythm action game Spin Rhythm XD for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation VR2 on July 9, the developer announced. A free update that adds virtual reality support to the existing PC (Steam) version will be available on the same date, as well as a new downloadable content pack containing 10 new tracks and skins for all available platforms.

Electronic Arts has revealed that it is planning on releasing two currently-unannounced titles before the end of the current fiscal year. For context, the fiscal year is set to end on March 31, 2025. Fans of Helldivers 2 have started a petition asking developers Arrowhead to reinstate a fired employee in charge of community management. The employee, "Spitz", was let go following the fiasco in which Sony told PC players they would need to link their Steam and PlayStation Network accounts to continue playing the shooter. Sony and Arrowhead changed their mind about that after player backlash in the form of 100,000+ negative reviews on Steam. The kicker? Community manager "Spitz" was low-key encouraging players to continue the review bombing. This doesn't seem to have gone down well internally.

Redfall was set to get its long-promised offline mode this month before Microsoft decided to close its studio down, according to a new report.

Bandai Namco US is running a competition that will see one player receiving a 10-foot statue as a prize.

Vampire shooter Redfall was to receive an offline mode via update this very month before Microsoft staked creators Arkane Austin, according to a report. To spell it out, the cancellation of the offline functionality means that Redfall will now be officially playable for only as long as Microsoft run the servers. Another win for videogame preservation!

With Arkane Austin shutting down and the previous update or Redfall being its last, players who own the Hero Pass won’t have anything to look forward to. Servers are also online for now, but the promised offline mode is also not happening. Despite the lack of updates on future content, IGN reports that the developer was working on a roadmap before its closure.

Remedy have called it quits on the project codenamed Kestrel. The co-op multiplayer game was an original IP being made with the backing of Tencent, but now Remedy say they've cancelled it to allow them to focus on "other games in our portfolio", all of which are based on "existing franchises".

Ubisoft officially announced the Steam and PlayStation release date for its music-learning app. The game is already available on iOS and Android as well as on PC via Ubisoft Connect. However, it comes to Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on June 6, and players can wishlist it now.

Alan Wake 2, Control developer Remedy has announced that it has cancelled its multiplayer project, codenamed Kestrel. The studio has revealed that it will instead be focusing more on its existing franchises. According to the announcement, Kestrel had started development in November 2023, and was a reboot of previous project, Vanguard.

Arrowhead Game Studios has released a new update for co-op shooter Helldivers 2. The update focuses on quite a few things, including weapon and enemy balancing, fixes to crashes, fixes to the Social menu, fixes to damage over time effects, fixes for misaligned scopes, and other improvements. Developer Red Hook Studios has announced that modding tools for roguelike dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon 2 will be coming to PC soon. Developer Starward Industries has released a new update for its narrative adventure game The Invincible. The update, dubbed the Voyager update, has a new trailer that you can check out below. After a bit of a bumpy landing on PC, it looks like No Rest for the Wicked is finally finding its feet. The early access action-RPG launched with notable performance problems that developers Moon Studios promised they’d address, starting with several hotfixes over the last few weeks that managed to claw back some frames. The game’s first big patch goes a step further, seemingly boosting the game’s performance to a degree that its minimum and recommended hardware specs have been lowered as a result.

NetherRealm has released the first trailer for Mortal Kombat 1’s next DLC character, Homelander from The Boys. It’s pretty faithful to the character (right down to the milk), but that’s not all fans have to look forward to. On Twitter, director Ed Boon also teased the addition of character skins based on the 1995 Mortal Kombat film.

Even with updates, Arkane Austin’s Redfall remains an underwhelming release. However, after celebrating its first anniversary on May 2nd, it’s worth noting that fans still haven’t received the characters promised as part of the Hero Pass.

Amidst widespread backlash, Sony has walked back on its decision to make PlayStation Network logins mandatory for Helldivers 2 on PC.

Sony has walked back on its decision that mandated new and existing Helldivers 2 players on Steam to link their PlayStation Network accounts to Valve's service after severe backlash over the weekend. On Friday, Sony had announced that users would need to link their Steam account to their PSN account to continue playing Helldivers 2. The PlayStation parent and Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios received widespread criticism over the move, leading to the game being review bombed on Steam.

The beloved Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise returned after a prolonged period of dormancy in 2020 with a combined remake of its first two instalments in the form of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and after the critical and commercial success that it enjoyed, many assumed that the series would be sticking around this time. By now, of course, it’s become abundantly clear that that’s not going to happen, though a new report claims that another collection of Tony Hawk remakes was in the works at one point.

FromSoftware has touted Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree as its largest ever expansion, and though that obviously means it’s going to be packed full of plenty of new content – like over 10 new bosses and a new map larger than the base game’s Limgrave area – what should we expect where its endings are concerned? According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, though there will be multiple endings, you shouldn’t expect quite as many as the base game had.

Crystal Dynamics announced back in 2022 that it had started development on the next Tomb Raider game, and though official information on the title has been scarce since then, some new potential details may have arrived courtesy of a leak by Twitter user V Scooper.

Starfield is set to add some long-awaited features with its upcoming update, including graphics modes on console, expanded ship building options, surface maps, and much more, while later on in the year, Bethesda Game Studios will also finally be adding a land vehicle to the game. Beyond that, however, the developer is also working on a full-fledged expansion for the space-faring RPG in the form of Shattered Steel, and though not much is known about it yet, some interesting new details may have potentially been unearthed.
