I allowed myself to play Fire Emblem Engage on the easiest possible mode, and it finally got me back into gaming. Fallout is more popular than ever, and that's all down to Lucy and the gang's trek through post-apocalyptic Los Angeles in Amazon's TV show. To fully unlock your potential, you aren't just running into an instance portal full speed into a pack of enemies — you're toting a full bag of consumables along with you to provide every edge possible. The War Within will be no different, offering players both new and more familiar consumables to work with: everything from enchantments to flasks and potions will be on a raider's To-Do list before that weekly lockout comes around.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is an ambitious. This is a Metroidvania not content with only including the usual genre constants of an underpowered protagonist, plentiful power-ups, and a vast labyrinthian land to explore. Instead, developer Surgent Studios has woven the theme of grief throughout everything the player does and experiences. From the visuals, to the combat, to even the rhythm and pacing of exploration; grief underpins it all. The only problem with this is that, so intent were the developers in building a palace of elaborate emotional adornments, they seem to have forgotten about some of the Metroidvania bits.

As expected, there are several new alchemy potions and phials coming to The War Within, though players may be surprised by some of their new effects, which include PvP content flasks that increase honor gains! Far fewer games explore the topic of Death in real life, the one with a capital ‘D’ that we all try really hard not to think about and desperately hope doesn’t apply to us or our loved ones. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, however, well, that takes a long and hard look at death. Indeed, death, sorrow, and loss, is the very reason for this metroidvania’s existence.

As the first game from Surgent Studios, looks to not only create a new universe for future art to take place in, but also serve as a love letter to Metroidvanias, African culture, and the very act of grieving for deceased loved ones. It's a gorgeous, fully realized world steeped in double meanings, vivid colors, and incredible music. For anyone who has lost a parent, it also hits incredibly close to home.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, the first game from Surgent Studios, a transmedia studio based in the UK founded by Abubakar Salim, known in the gaming world for being the voice actor of Assassin's Creed Origins main character Bayek, looked like a very special game right from its reveal during last year's The Game Awards show. Earlier this week, we saw what was essentially the death of two beloved consoles, as Nintendo finally shut down the online services for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, leaving several games either obsolete or without online multiplayer.
