Each of its death games is unique and filled with devilish and gruesome horrors, including formidable killers with cunning and lethal AI, and upgrading your character’s abilities and gadgets is a fantastic reward for surviving all those bloody corridors. Its biggest weakness is that there just aren’t that many levels to play, which isn’t a great feeling when matches are supposed to be all about striking fear into you and your BFFs. Still, my crew and I had a lot of fun with The Outlast Trials, even if that novelty bled out quicker than we would have liked.

I’ve played both Ori games. I survived the Water Tower in Blind Forest. So I knew that, even though developer Moon Studios was changing genres for its next game, No Rest for the Wicked, I shouldn’t expect to breeze through it. And sure enough, after playing the first 90 minutes of an early build, culminating in a punishing boss fight, I had to earn every new piece of gear, every bit of loot, and every inch of progress. No Rest for the Wicked is beautiful, it is challenging, and it is rewarding. You are not a walking death machine here, like in Diablo. Instead, your enemies are the walking death machines, and you’ll need to learn how to survive them. It’s more like Dark Souls in an isometric-view action-RPG form.

No Rest for the Wicked has a lot going for it. The upcoming action game already has me charmed me with its distinct sense of style. There’s just one thing that’s yet to win me over, and that’s its sometimes cruel gameplay.

We are living in the golden age of romantasy books. Thanks in large part to BookTok, fantasy romance novels are dominating the publishing industry and have never been more at the forefront of the conversation. While TikTok can turn basically anything into a trend, this isn’t a case of inauthentic hype. Romantasy books are genuinely a good time, and they’re even better to enjoy with a community of like-minded (and sometimes dirty-minded) readers. Ever since the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies were announced, two-part films have been a scourge on blockbuster cinema. At their best, they’ve often felt like hollow attempts to stretch lucrative material into something even more profitable. At worst, they’ve felt like two incomplete halves that make up a disappointing whole. But Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune feels like a special exception. The first movie, publicly billed as Dune and revealed as Dune: Part One only in the credits, handled the world-building and all the expositional heavy lifting. It all came with the understanding that the conclusion could be an all-killer, no-filler science fiction epic. And that’s exactly what Dune: Part Two delivers.

In the War Within, Xal'atath and Alleria Windrunner will have a unique rivalry. As a character, Xal'atath is relatively new — introduced first in Legion. While Alleria's character is older even than Sylvanas, and was first introduced in Warcraft II, the expansion that she was properly reintroduced in was Legion as well. With The War Within on its way, it's a good time to revisit their story. But that can be easier said than done. World of Warcraft's story is something that spans not only multiple expansions — but multiple games, novels, animated shorts, comics, audio dramas, and just thousands upon thousands of quests. How do you follow the thread of just one or two characters, in a way that lets you re-experience their stories for yourself?
