Next Battlefield game will have “connected” multiplayer and single-player offerings, made by series’ biggest team yet

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson made a string of controversial statements in the company's most recent earnings call, with potential in-game ads and comments about the next Battlefield raising some eyebrows. 

GameStop may begin purchasing graded Pokémon cards at a select number of retail locations soon, according to store associates. If true, the move would make the retailer one of the single largest buyers of graded collectibles with nearly 3,000 potential retail locations in the United States for consumers to sell their cards. Rumors first began circulating Thursday, via PokéBeach. Polygon has reached out to GameStop’s press team for comment.

The CEO of Battlefield developer Electronic Arts confirmed the next entry into the franchise will be a live-service title. The Battlefield franchise remains one of the longest-running first-person shooter series and an iconic IP in the video game industry, cultivating a global hardcore fan base with roots tracing as far back as 2002. Now, EA is working on the next mainline entry in the franchise in the hopes of releasing another successful live-service title.

While Electronic Arts has been quiet about the future of the Battlefield franchise, it looks like a new title in the multiplayer shooter series is in the works. As caught by Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has revealed that he has been playing the next Battlefield game with the development team.

Electronic Arts has released its Q4 2024 earnings, and overall, it was a solid 12 months for the company. Overall, EA has brought in revenue or $7.43 billion, up 1 percent over FY2023, with both EA Sports FC 24 and Madden NFL 24 having record-setting years in terms of revenue generated (Madden was the best-selling entry in the series since the early 2000s).

Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healey has revealed that the studio’s next major title will focus more on its gameplay aspects rather than offering players with a development kit.
