Dragon Age: Inquisition can be a bit of a slog on replays. Everything about the game is slowed down from its predecessors, from its combat, to how fast you're allowed to get through main story quests.

Electronic Arts has released its Q4 2024 earnings, and overall, it was a solid 12 months for the company. Overall, EA has brought in revenue or $7.43 billion, up 1 percent over FY2023, with both EA Sports FC 24 and Madden NFL 24 having record-setting years in terms of revenue generated (Madden was the best-selling entry in the series since the early 2000s).
During the Q4 earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson also provided a bit of an update on the next entry in the Battlefield, which is being made by the “largest […] team in franchise history” and will be, in Wilson’s estimation, “another tremendous live service.”
"This is the largest Battlefield team in franchise history. A few weeks ago, I was visiting with the teams, I couldn't be more excited about what they showed, and what they were able to play. […] I’ve just spent a whole bunch of time with the collective Battlefield team playing what they’re building and it is going to be another tremendous live service.”
For those who haven’t been keeping up, EA recently shuttered startup studio Ridgeline Games, which was working on story content for the next Battlefield, and instead assigned Montreal’s Motive Studios to the task. They’ll join the Battlefield 2042 team of DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect Studios in producing the next Battlefield title.
While the next Battlefield is a big priority for EA, and apparently in some sort of playable state, don’t expect it this year. EA revealed their FY2025 (which continues until the end of March 2025) lineup, which includes the usual array of sports titles, a Q4 EA Originals title, and an “owned IP” title.
EA doesn’t specify what that “owned IP” title is, but according to wanton insider Jeff Grubb and other insiders, it’s Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, a game that’s already been rumored to be coming out this year. Of course, this is far from an official confirmation, but Dragon Age in 2024 and perhaps Battlefield in 2025 feels like a reasonable timeline.
What do you think? Optimistic for the future of Battlefield and EA’s upcoming lineup? Or are you taking a wait-and-see approach?

I've clocked up nearly 400 hours playing BioWare's big fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is not a stat I'm particularly proud of. I'm not ashamed either, partly because, as has been identified by artist Corey Brickley, via the Maw, there's a lot of filler. Brickley has collated a list of suggested mods to slim down Dragon Age: Inquisition from a potentially 80 hours-long epic to a trim 40 hour story-focused romp, which means you might be able to play through it again in time for the launch of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - which is a direct sequel to Inquisition.
Thank your own personal deity—possibly the God of War and Tsushima—it's Friday! Speaking of that samurai epic, it arrived on PC last night, and I have been hilt deep in it since 2 o'clock in the AM. Runs well and looks phenomenal so far. Given Nixxes spectacular and recent craftsmanship with Horizon Forbidden West, my finely-tuned instincts already tell me this is worth the yen.
Starting today through next Thursday, the Epic Games Store is offering a free digital copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition. This version of BioWare's RPG includes all the post-launch DLCs: Jaws of Hakkon, The Descent, and Trespasser. The last two, in particular, are absolutely vital to fully understanding the storyline, which is expected to continue in the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
The card-hunting game developed and published by Pixel Spirits, Dragon Age: Pals Adventure, has launched officially on Android! Available now on Google Play, this game has dropped in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
The franchise has had numerous titles appear on the Nintendo Switch, many of which are among the best-selling games the console has had in its seven-plus years of life. However, new information has revealed that the Switch's lifecycle has been the best period of the series, as it has eclipsed all past generations by large margins, even ahead of Gen 10 and future games' releases.
A group of former XCOM and Civilisation developers have co-founded a new studio, Midsummer Studios, who plan to “revitalise the life sim genre” with their debut release. The latter doesn’t have a title yet, and is described as “a next-gen Life Sim that emphasizes player-driven narratives, allowing communities to share memorable moments that grow out of the creativity of players themselves.” According to former XCOM and Marvel’s Midnight Suns director Jake Solomon, it’s “focused on the drama of modern life, where our players will write meaningful stories just by playing, and then share those stories with the world.”
Industry insider Jeff Grubb once again reaffirms his claim that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is launching this year. This is despite recent information from EA indicating that it could be with us as late as March 2025, sparking fears that we're still almost a year away from the long-awaited sequel.
The wait for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been extremely long for fans, but it sounds like the end of the line is finally in sight, and it might have been worth it.
Mass Effect and Dragon Age veteran David Gaider has hit back against his former publisher's apparent "hunger" for AI development tools, referencing developer BioWare's biggest failure to do so.
In an otherwise challenging time for the industry, Dragon's Dogma 2 developer Capcom has announced recording the highest-ever game sales in company history. Besides Dragon's Dogma 2, the Japan-based firm launched another major hit, Street Fighter 6, during fiscal year 2024.
10 years after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, its long-awaited sequel,Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, will be released this financial year, following a beleaguered development process. This news follows a decade of fan speculation, teasers, and development woes faced by BioWare, the originators of the smash-hit fantasy RPG series. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was first announced at the 2018 Game Awards, and has been in a long and troubled development since 2015, beset by delays, staff layoffs, and high-profile resignations.
