Yesterday, Bungie shared a lot of information on the upcoming Destiny 2: The Final Shape expansion. Previously slated to launch in February, it was delayed to June 4 to 'deliver a bigger and bolder vision'.

Electronic Arts is adding Motive Studio, the team behind Star Wars: Squadrons and the 2023 remake of Dead Space, to the roster of developers working on the next Battlefield game. Byron Beede, general manager for the Battlefield franchise, and Patrick Klaus, general manager of Motive, announced the formation of a Battlefield-focused team at Motive on Tuesday — an announcement that also signaled the end of seasonal content for Battlefield 2042.

It’s been quite a roller coaster for Battlefield 2042, which launched in an embarrassing state back in 2021, but managed to scratch and claw its way back to a solid place one update at a time. Well, it seems the Battlefield 2042 story is finally coming to an end, as EA and DICE have announced major support for the game will cease at the end the currently-in-progress Season 7. Maintenance updates and reruns of past events will still happen, but no more major seasonal content is coming.

EA’s wider multi-studio Battlefield team has gone through some significant disruptions of late, with Ridgeling Games – the studio that was established to create narrative-driven Battlefield experiences – having been shuttered. Prior to that, EA announced that Need for Speed and Burnout developer Criterion Games had joined that larger team, and now, another notable studio has been added to that list.

Season 7 of Battlefield 2042, titled Turning Point, will be its last, as reported by EA today in a new blog post. In preparation for production on the next entry to the Battlefield franchise, the dev team will be prioritizing the future—though Battlefield 2042 will still be getting some updates and events going forward.

Helldivers 2 does a fantastic job of straddling the line between being a great game to goof around in with your friends, and delivering actual commentary and world-building about the folly of an oppressive regime. You play as a titular Helldiver, shot down to enemy planets in pods that look like giant bullets — no obvious symbolism there — to fight back waves of nasty Terminid bugs and evil robots. The gameplay is great, but what I’ve come to truly love is the goofy Super Earth propaganda, and how it perfectly encapsulates fascism as a ridiculous ideology that is doomed to fail.

While I can’t honestly call myself a diehard MechWarrior fan – I’ve never played the pen-and-paper roleplaying game, for instance – I have enjoyed many of the video games over the years, from MechWarrior 3 to both MechAssault games on Xbox. Helldivers 2 is a pretty chaotic game, having players fend off waves and waves of big bugs and deadly robots on an intense battlefield. It can be a little overwhelming at times, especially if you're trying to remember and input a strategem code whilst being chased by a group of Hulks, but some fans have come up with a rather clever method of shortening the time spent inputting the code, or just skipping the process entirely.
