Helldivers 2 has plenty of weapons and firepower at your disposal to help spread democracy, but just like with every online game these days, players have been attempting to create meta builds and streamline their loadouts to ensure they're doing as much damage as possible. It's not really in the spirit of the game, especially if you're chastising other players for using weapons that may not be optimal, but there's every chance the weapons you're not using are better than they appear on paper.
Each weapon in Helldivers 2 has four stats that you can see which give you a general idea of what kind of damage it does and how it feels out on the battlefield. Damage, Capacity, Recoil, and Fire Rate can all be taken into consideration when picking weapons, but picking them based solely on their stats isn't the way to go, as Helldivers 2 lead Johan Pilestedt has explained that each weapon has "maybe 50 stats in total" that govern how it functions, the vast majority of them being hidden.
According to Pilestedt in a recent tweet, the stats that you can actually see on each weapon are actually more like guidelines, and "do not paint a complete picture". To prove his point, he also shares a photo of an earlier version of the game's weapon stats page, which used to include a stats called "Ergonomics", as well as a second page that displayed information such as reload time, muzzle velocity, a recoil simulation, and the stats for your actual ammo.
Pilestedt goes on to urge players to simply use the weapons that they like using the most, rather than chase any current metas going around, though there is a little bit of pushback from a selection of fans. Many claim that players just naturally figure out the best weapons through playing the game, and that many are forced to use the SG-225 Breaker to merely survive on the higher difficulties.
Then you have a bunch of stat nerds calling on Pilestedt to give them the numbers they so desperately crave, and that fighting against a meta is a pointless task in the first place. Helldivers 2 is expected to start getting some major updates now that the server situation is under control, so we'll have to see whether they give us the forbidden numbers.

Heads up, Helldivers – literally. Seemingly out of nowhere, there've been sightings of flying terminids out in the wild, which the game's director – and the Ministry of Truth – insist are "filthy lies" and "propaganda from bug sympathizers." So, uh, we can probably expect to start seeing a lot more of them soon.
