This means that internet service providers (ISPs) in the United States will be reclassified by the FCC as common carriers, in a move similar to how net neutrality was handled by the Obama administration in 2015.

The best iPhone emulators

The market for iPhone games has become so wide and diverse that it can realistically compete with most console and PC offerings. Where we once only got cheap time-wasters, we now have complete experiences that don’t feel any less impressive than what the competition offers. In fact, a lot of games made for consoles are appearing on the iPhone now that it is becoming so powerful. However, older games have paradoxically been mostly absent from the app store. That all could be about to change as emulation is now allowed on iPhone, though with some caveats that any retro fan should know about before getting too excited to play all your favorite NES games on your phone. Here’s what’s up with iPhone emulators, as well as our picks for a few of the best ones you can get right now.

After a Hefty Fine, A Major Change in App Store Guidelines Will Allow Developers to Offer Game Emulators on The App Store

Apple allowed users to sideload apps and install third-party app stores on the iPhone with its big iOS 17.4 update, but it appears that the company did not do enough. The EU has imposed a hefty fine over the non-satisfactory changes that Apple implemented on the App Store and has requested to further comply with the Digital Markets Act. With a $2 billion fine, Apple was required to update the App Store again with the required changes. The updated App Store guidelines offer the ability for streaming apps to be redirected to an external website along with developers to offer game emulators on the App Store.

Analyze and Plan Class Cooldowns with Lorrgs.IO

New tools are being created for WoW every day, and while Warcraft Logs is still the premier tool for collecting and analyzing gameplay, there are now several websites dedicated to parsing its information in new and expressive ways, giving players more options to help improve their gameplay! Lorrgs.IO does this visually, filtering the top 50 parses of each class and specialization, showing where important cooldowns are used and how they overlap with encounter mechanics, without all the effort of manually digging through individual logs! We previously highlighted Lorrgs ability to automatically import cooldown timers, though that's far from the only way to use the tool. More analytically inclined players may appreciate going through Lorrgs manually in order to get them a better sense of where and why cooldowns are commonly used throughout an encounter, planning out in advance rather than just waiting for an imported raid warning to tell them when to use it. Mythic Tindral is a great example of this, as cooldown usage will vary considerably between classes and specializations. While the typical approach to using cooldowns is «early and often» to get as many uses as possible, many classes will delay their cooldowns for each set of Mass Entanglement, though this isn't universal as they can quite easily be overkilled if everyone tries to focus on them, resulting in a lack of boss damage. Even deciding when to use Heroism/Bloodlust can be made easier using Lorrgs to generate a quick visual overview of where other successful groups use group cooldowns. While not necessarily universal between each of the different logs, it can give players a good idea of different successful approaches. Smolderon is another example of a place where many players will purposefully delay their cooldowns to align with the Ignited Essence buff, though it make take more specific log diving to see how certain classes bait orb spawns in order to affect better alignment. Remember, Lorrgs.IO uses Warcraft Logs to pull the top 50 logs for each class/specialization of every encounter, so the same information can be found on both sites — navigating to an individual log is as easy as clicking on the player name/parse! Warriors commonly leap away from Smolderon in order to delay orb collection for their cooldowns, though this isn't something easily seen on Lorrgs.

European Union has finalised a historic deal! Check out the AI Act cheat sheet ahead of its enactment

On Friday, December 8, Europe reached a provisional deal on landmark European Union (EU) rules governing the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The political agreement is seen as a landmark moment for the EU and now, it is expected that the rest of the process to enact the AI Act. As per reports, the sticking points where the bloc failed to find consensus were governments' use of AI in biometric surveillance and how to regulate AI systems such as ChatGPT. Now that the agreement is in place, you should know the key elements of the AI Act and how it may shape the future of this emerging technology.

AI Act in Europe: A Small But Welcome Step in Prying OpenAI ChatGPT Hidden Black Box

Sorry, OpenAI. The European Union is making life for the leaders of artificial intelligence  (AI) much less private.  A newly agreed draft of the region's upcoming AI Act will force ChatGPT maker OpenAI and other companies to share previously hidden details about how they build their products. The legislation will still rely on companies to audit themselves, but it's nonetheless a promising development as corporate giants race to launch powerful AI systems with almost no oversight from regulators.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader continues Games Workshop’s policy of not directly crediting employees

Games Workshop, creator and publisher of games and other products in the Warhammer 40,000 setting, has had an excellent go around with its video game releases these past few years. The latest, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, seems to have a full head of steam with reviews and impressions pouring in filled with positive notes. Meanwhile, standout titles like Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate — Demonhunters and Warhammer 40,000: Darktidehave likewise made a name for themselves in their respective genres. But all three games have done so without directly crediting workers at the Nottingham-based company who actually do the work.

I have no idea if Lego Fortnite can live up to its potential, but I'm hooked on the Tears of the Kingdom-meets-Valheim pitch

Lego Fortnite is big on authenticity. During my recent preview session, the game's developers repeatedly noted how they recreated 10,000 authentic Lego bricks in digital form, using those bricks to then create creatures and characters that are - again - authentic to the guidelines for actual Lego sets. It's effectively impossible for me to judge how well Lego Fortnite can fulfill its ambitions as the 30-minute demo I got ahead of the game's official release offered nowhere near enough time to really poke at its systems, but I came away thrilled by its potential.

Crackdown on loan apps: When Google Play slashed count from 4000 listings to just 200

In a recent interview, Saikat Mitra, Vice President and Head of Trust and Safety for Asia-Pacific at Google, shed light on the challenges faced in addressing the issue of fraudulent loan apps on the Google Play Store. Mitra explained that the delay in addressing these concerns stemmed from the fact that the apps, while not containing malware or harmful content, exhibited problematic business practices in the real world. When developers submit apps for listing on the Play Store, Google scrutinises them extensively, considering factors like code integrity and content safety.
