Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has made lofty promises with the little that it’s been shown off so far, with its crunching, brutal combat looking to recapture the vibe of its acclaimed predecessor. A lot of that will, of course, will come through the game’s campaign – which can be played both solo and co-op – but will a PvP multiplayer component also be on offer? After, all, PvP in the original Space Marine was quite a fan-favourite, so will its sequel follow in its footsteps?
Though that has yet to be officially confirmed by either developer Saber Interactive or publisher Focus Entertainment (or Pullup Entertainment, as it’s now known), the game’s official art book has seemingly spilled the beans on that front. YouTuber prdalien0, who managed to get his hands on the official art book, recently uploaded a video sharing previously unknown details on the game included in the book.
Interestingly, the art book seems to confirm that Space Marine 2 will indeed feature a PvP mode. Players will only be able to play as Marines, though multiple different playable classes will be available. Additionally, the PvP component will also include personalization options in the form of clan and banner customization.
Of course, until these details are formally announced, it’s best not to take anything as gospel- though it seems safe to assume that the game’s official art book is going to have legitimate information, until plans have changed drastically behind the scenes.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch on September 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
