In the early months of 2024, most conversation has been dominated by heavyweights such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 (among others), but a relatively smaller-scale game that’s captured the attention of quite a few people in spite of the busy period it launched in is Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Don’t Nod’s action RPG launched in February for PC and consoles, and was met with acclaim by critics and audiences alike. But given the success it enjoyed on the critical front, might Don’t Nod be looking to expand on the IP with future sequels?

Developer DON’T NOD and publisher Focus Entertainment have announced that narrative role-playing game Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden now has a free demo for players to try out before buying the game. Announced through a post on social media platform X, the demo is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Gears of Warhammer sequel Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will feature some kind of PvP multiplayer mode, similar to the first Warhammer 40k game, going by an early look at an art book for the upcoming third-person shooter.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has made lofty promises with the little that it’s been shown off so far, with its crunching, brutal combat looking to recapture the vibe of its acclaimed predecessor. A lot of that will, of course, will come through the game’s campaign – which can be played both solo and co-op – but will a PvP multiplayer component also be on offer? After, all, PvP in the original Space Marine was quite a fan-favourite, so will its sequel follow in its footsteps?

Don’t Nod took its second crack at the action RPG genre with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden earlier this year, and as those who’ve played it will tell you, it was a far more successful one than the first. Unlike the rough-around-the-edges Vampyr, Banishers turned out to be a sizeable, engaging game with plenty of depth- but in spite of the scope of the project, Don’t Nod says that it wasn’t actually a full-blown AAA production.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, the latest narrative-focused action RPG from DON’T NOD, is available now on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. Set in 1695 North America, it sees two Banishers, Antea and Red, venturing to New Eden, only to face tragedy.

DON’T NOD’s action RPG Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden arrives next month, offering a unique blend of supernatural adventure and intimate story-telling. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 had no confirmed release date beyond the vague "2023" still listed on its Steam page. In a business update released today by publishers Focus Entertainment, however, it seems the third-person boltgunner has been delayed into the "second half of 2024".

Saber Interactive creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick has revealed that the studio has been taking inspiration from a Warhammer 40,000 fan-made series for its upcoming action game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Developed by DON’T NOD of Life is Strange fame, the action RPG focuses on spirit hunters Antea and Red, who travel the land to help wayward spirits. The 15-minute gameplay sees the duo taking on a task for Thickskin to hunt a powerful Beast.

Cooperative space action game Void Crew will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on September 7, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Hutlihut Games announced.

Though Focus Entertainment dropped some new gameplay for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at Gamescom 2023, there’s more to come. The publisher confirmed extended gameplay presentations for the upcoming hack-and-slash third-person shooter and DON’T NOD’s Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden on August 30th at 9 AM PDT/12 PM EDT.

While Gamescom Opening Night Live attracted the most eyes, plenty of big titles have been showcased on the show floor. One of these is Saber Interactive’s eagerly awaited Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, with IGN providing about 14 minutes of new gameplay. Check it out below.
