You may recall that, a couple of weeks ago, the Push Square readership narrowed down its Best Game of All Time knock-out tournament to two finalists. After whittling the games down in a series of one-on-one votes, it all came down to a pair of iconic PlayStation titles — Bloodborne and Final Fantasy VII. It was a case of old vs. new, but which one prevailed in the final battle? We now know the final result.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has crossed the 10 million sales barrier, developer FromSoftware has announced.

FromSoftware announced today that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has now sold through over 10 million units, based on reports received from digital and retail partners as well as Activision and FromSoftware's own internal estimates.

Lies of P has been in the hands of the public for a week now, letting everyone get comfortably acquainted with the horrific city of Krat. Longtime fans of FromSoftware's work will notice more than a few similarities to Bloodborne, an extremely popular title that PlayStation doesn't seem to be interested in revisiting despite constant begging from the fanbase for a PC release. For now, Lies of P is all they have to fill the void, and modders have already got to work making the game look as close to Bloodborne on PC as they can.

FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold over ten million units worldwide in its lifetime. The developer confirmed this in a recent tweet and thanked fans for playing the game. The last sales milestone for the title was in July 2020, with over five million units sold.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon and Elden Ring are very similar titles. One of them may include gigantic mech throwdowns and the other dramatic tussles with dragons and demi-gods, but the foundation on which both have been built is almost the exact same. It's the same story for the rest of FromSoftware's modern catalogue, and this allows modders to create some pretty wild crossovers, like pitting Malenia, Blade of Miquella against Wolf from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Lies of P is a game that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Made by South Korean team Round8 Studio, it feels like the product of a developer taking its second or even third swing at the Souls-like formula. It puts the majority of other titles inspired by Dark Souls to shame, yet the only other game to the name of Round8 Studio is an MMORPG called Bless Unleashed. How has a relatively unknown developer managed to top some of the industry's elite with better combat, extensive customisation, and quality presentation? Lies of P is a game that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but what's abundantly clear is it's something FromSoftware fans can't afford to miss.

We're facing up against that eternal question yet again — what's the best game of all time? Which single title trumps all others? It's impossible to truly answer, as there are countless incredible games that could be worthy of being labelled the GOAT. However, that's not dissuaded our enthusiastic readership from finding an answer anyway.

A brave Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice modder has ported Elden Ring's Malenia straight into the former game, and it works beautifully.

Denuvo Anti-Tamper has been added to Lies of P, the new soulslike from Neowiz, four days before the game’s full launch. The Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring-inspired RPG game is shaping up to be one of the best variations on the FromSoftware formula in a long time, with our own Lies of P review rating it as a superb dark fantasy. With the Lies of P release date now upon us, the game’s Steam page is updated to state it uses Denuvo, which is designed to prevent users from accessing and altering parts of a game’s source code, and to stop piracy. Lies of P is one of many recent games to incorporate Denuvo.

One streamer’s pet goldfish has done the seemingly impossible and defeated Elden Ring’s infamous boss, Godrick the Fell Omen, all from the comfort of his fish tank. 

Elden Ring is full of notorious boss fights, but none of them hold a candle to Malenia, Blade of Miquella. She's considered the toughest boss in the game by a wide margin, mostly down to her quick attacks and Waterfowl Dance technique that can seem completely unavoidable if you'e not properly prepared for it. She feels very much like a more fast-paced Sekiro boss fight plopped in the middle of Elden Ring, which does make you wonder how the Wolf would stack up against her.

Madden NFL 24 has taken the top spot in Circana's August Top 20, but has been somewhat overshadowed by Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon in second place despite releasing one day before the reporting period ended.

This might just be the most FromSoftware community thing I've seen—both the PvP meta nonsense of Armored Core 6, and the absolutely headstrong, brick-headed nonsense that destroys it.

I remember when Demon’s Souls was released back in 2009, there were many people who called it a market-unfriendly game. There were pushes to get people to buy it just to experience this supposedly brutal and novel take on action RPGs. Flash forward 14 years, and it’s one of the biggest sub-genres in the industry.

You know we’ve entered a new era in the increasingly crowded soulslike arms race when we’re now turning classic children’s stories into dark, twisted Bloodborne pseudo-sequels, but hey: here we are. Yes, Lies of P is yet another game inspired by the dark and unforgiving FromSoftware masterpieces that have captured the hearts of so many (myself included), but it’s also an undeniably impressive standout amid a sea of games chasing the soulslike trend. It suffers from some uneven difficulty and overly linear level design, but its impressive story, extremely well-tuned combat, and memorable areas and boss fights mean that this isn’t one you should miss out on. It’s fair to say that sometimes Lies of P emulates its inspiration so closely it feels like someone else is pulling its strings a little too forcefully, but that puppet show is still a whole lot of fun to watch.

It's not too difficult to farm COAM—that's Armored Core 6's currency—on Rubicon 3. While repair and ammo costs are a thing, you can replay missions at any time. Plus, if you tailor-make a mech to trash them you'll be flying through repeat runs. My cash cow of choice was Operation Wallclimber, which I chewed through wielding double shotguns —but for a lot of the game's community, the best early-game farm has involved shoving this poor guy into a locker again and again… and again.

FromSoftware rolled out a new update for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon on Monday, and players who threw in the towel when they hit the game’s first major skill check might want to revisit that boss. The developer has made Balteus, the game’s demanding missile-spraying machine, slightly easier.

Armored Core 6 has been on the market for a few weeks now, so a balance patch was bound to arrive sooner than later. After all, the first notable balance patch for Elden Ring hit after roughly the same amount of time. For Armored Core 6, FromSoftware has released a new patch to seemingly address some of the bigger talking points that the game has seen since release. It buffs a variety of weapons while adjusting “certain attacks” performed by a few bosses.

I am no galaxy-brained Armored Core 6 theorycrafter. Much of my time the game's been spent crafting dumb bumper stickers, cobbling together mechs, and praying at the altar of the pile bunker. But even I've heard of the Zimmerman.

FromSoftware has released a new patch for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and though it isn’t the biggest, it does contain some much-needed buffs. Weapons like MA-J-200 RANSETSU-RF, LR-036 CURTIS, RF-024 TURNER, RF-025 SCUDDER, and more have increased attack power and reduced reload time.

Armored Core patch 1.02 is out now, and among the details, one of the more noteworthy features is that the patch has “adjusted certain attacks performed” by both Balteus and the Sea Spider, widely seen to be two of the hardest bosses in the new game. 

FromSoftware has released an update for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon that appears to be making its early game a little easier.

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced the release of Armored Core VI update 1.02 across all platforms. This patch aims to fix several bugs and balance weapon units to increase build diversity in the early and middle part of the game. Armored Core 6 is an absolute blast to play through, which certainly contributes to players fighting through to the ending. From the combat’s blistering pace to the depth of customization, this is undoubtedly one of the best mech games in a long time. It also has a solid narrative about fighting against the odds for your beliefs and survival.

There was a very real risk that Armored Core 6 might be lost in the shuffle, launching between Game of the Year contenders Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield. Thankfully, that hasn't happened. Hardened fans of the series and newcomers alike are committed to the game with some of the more artistic among you using its in-depth decal creator to knock up some pretty impressive artwork. The Singaporean game rating board (IMDA, or Infocomm Media Development Authority) has listed Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition for PlayStation 5.

FromSoftware is still struggling to lock its games to 60 frames-per-second, it seems. It's tradition to trivialize FromSoftware's notoriously difficult games by using the dirtiest, cheesiest strategies and equipment imaginable, and Armored Core 6 players have taken this to a new extreme by literally giving everything in the game both barrels, by which I mean two Zimmerman shotguns.

Armored Core 6 players haven't taken long to strip back the hood and get tinkering with FromSoftware's mech extravaganza, but a new trend in PvP really does leave everything on the table. PvP in AC6 is usually a matter of giant mechs circling and zooming around each other from a distance as near-endless amounts of ordnance flies both ways: it's fast, explosive, and a ton of fun.

The game's been out on PS5 and PS4 for a week now, and if you've managed to beat the infamous first boss, we'd like to know what you think of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Indeed, there's no question that this is a hardcore action game — something the series has always embraced — but in riding on the wave of FromSoftware momentum granted to the developer by mega hits like Elden Ring, Armored Core seems to have found a much wider audience than ever before.

And you’d think with a series stretching back to 1997 with nearly 20 entries, that it’d be a cinch to go back and play… any of them. But you’d be wrong!

Among the feats a new player of FromSoftware's Souls or Souls-adjacent fantasy games must perform is conquering your fear of giants. From the Stray Demons of Dark Souls through Bloodborne's Cleric Beast to the dragons of Elden Ring, you must learn not to be awed by creatures who look they could kill you with a sneeze. You must learn to run towards that titanic knight with the enormous shield, rolling between its colossal ankles, using its stature against it. You must learn to see past the visual overkill of a swing that would surely fell a skyscraper, registering only the effects on your poise and health bar. It's a learning curve, for sure, and that makes the modding of mechs from Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon into Elden Ring a little more than the usual act of mischievous fanservice.

Lords of the Fallen's developer wants to "allow our players to incarnate the hero (or bulky horror) of their dreams" and is giving them the means to do just that. 

This was inevitable. FromSoftware's fanbase is flooded with talented people—something about the studio's habit of making textured, detailed worlds and iconic characters has set fire to artist's imaginations time and time again. Even the lore videos have professionally-rendered animatics now.

Japanese gamers have continued to embrace the PC as a platform at staggering rates, jumping up 43% from 131.3 billion yen to 189.2 billion yen in 2022. That's a total size of about $1.3 billion US. The data comes from the latest report by Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, an industry think tank which compiles yearly material about the performance of the gaming industry in Japan and abroad.

FromSoftware is investigating an issue that may affect saves in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon's PC version. FromSoftware is for now recommending that you be sure to shut down your game before you put your PC to sleep. I'll guess that also means you should just shut down the game when you're not playing it, period.

Armored Core 6 is tough as nails early on, which isn't too surprising considering developer FromSoftware has a reputation for making extremely punishing yet satisfying titles. Unlike Elden Ring or the Dark Souls series, you can't actually grind or overlevel in Armored Core 6, making some of its toughest fights far too much of an intense skill check for a lot of people with no way to cheese them. You only have to see how many people tapped out after being battered by the tutorial boss to realise that.

Developer FromSoftware has announced that it is aware of an issue with the PC release of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon where some players are facing problems with their save data. The studio has stated that it is currently in the process of investigating the issue.

After August, we probably wouldn't have minded a quiet September of continued journeying in Baldur's Gate 3, a new all-time great RPG, or of mech engineering in Armored Core 6, FromSoftware's triumphant return to its classic action series. Instead, September is PC gaming's most packed month of the year.

Armored Core 6 takes developer FromSoftware's hands-off storytelling so far that you don't see a single human in the entire game. The whole cast is embodied exclusively by voice comms, pilot emblems, and giant robots, but that hasn't stopped artistic fans from putting faces to the game's characters, and if you guessed that means turning them into waifus, you are correct. 

I've never been a huge fan of New Game+ modes in FromSoftware games. While it's fun to rip through progressively harder versions of the game, the balance eventually starts to get wonky, your chosen stat progression means less, and you're left wondering whether it would've been more fun to just load up a new save and enjoy the more intentional difficulty curve of a first playthrough.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is intentionally devoid of human faces, a design choice that accentuates the dehumanization of the player character and the Rubiconians whose planet has been devastated and plundered. What little we do see of Armored Core 6’s humans is obscured or unclear. But players have fallen for many of the game’s characters regardless, purely based on their voices and mannerisms.

Fans were surprised to see Armored Core make a return after being gone for about a decade. The video game franchise saw a triumphant return to the public when it was first unveiled during last year’s The Game Awards event. With FromSoftware working on the game, fans who enjoyed the classic mech franchise were eager to work alongside newcomers who have fallen in love with FromSoftware with some of their latest video game releases, such as their epic hit Elden Ring. Fortunately, the wait has ended for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, as players can pick up a copy of the game today. 

It’s a week since the successful launch of Armored Core 6, and already the internet has been flooded with some of the most amazing mech creations. Some issues have also unfortunately arisen, and they could potentially affect your save game.

In 2014, three years after FromSoftware caused an industrial quake with Dark Souls, Lords of the Fallen was released. Created by Deck13 and CI Games, it was a middling attempt at recreating the punishing magic of FromSoft’s masterpiece. In the years since it has fallen into obscurity; a largely forgotten B-tier relic from the dawn of the eighth console generation. But while Lords of the Fallen isn’t notable for its quality, it will always be an important part of gaming history. It was the first significant ‘soulslike’. An entire genre of FromSoftware copycats began here.

It turns out locking onto targets in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will actually decrease your accuracy in certain situations.

Armored Core 6 is out and further proves that FromSoftware knows fashion is a lifestyle and not a choice. Looking as good as you fight is core to many games from the accredited studio, and seeing that legacy continue is heartwarming.

One of the best things about Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon is the game’s character creator mode. FromSoftware is no stranger to character customization, but the tools in the Souls series allow only for the modification of humans or Shrek-like creatures. Making mechs is a completely different thing. I’ve previously showcased a few hilarious fanmade AC units, and I’m glad to see that the community AC unit factory isn’t slowing down.

Armored Core 6 is a game that lets you customize your mech in any way that you see fit. Whether you want to be rocking something from Gundam in-terms of color scheme, look, and even weapon-type, or simply want to look cool while being the coolest pilot on Rubicon. You can truly make the mech of your dreams in Armored Core 6. Helping this to come to fruition there are a lot of pieces to buy and get to use on your mech in Armored Core 6, with some of these being hidden away in levels for you to find. Since its launch in late July, Pikmin 4 has consistently topped weekly Japanese retail sales charts, though that streak is now broken. As per the newest weekly data released be Famitsu, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has debuted on top of the newest charts. In fact, it occupies the two top positions, with the PS5 version selling over 115,000 units and the PS4 version selling over 47,000. Collectively, the game has sold over 163,000 units, making it the second-biggest launch for the mech action franchise in Japan, behind 2012’s Armored Core 5, though with digital sales included, it’s likely to have sold more than its predecessor.

Look, yes, I know, there are a lot of meaningless comparisons to FromSoftware games on the internet, but I'm still in awe of just how much Super Mario Bros. Wonder's online multiplayer features appear to have been inspired by the asynchronous multiplayer features that have defined the studio's output from Demon's Souls through Elden Ring.

It's safe to say that Armored Core 6 is officially a hit, and this new title has propelled the series to greater heights. While the game itself is fantastic in its own rights, it definitely wouldn't be so successful had developer FromSoftware not significantly improved its reputation with genre defining titles like the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. It's thanks to this air of prestige surrounding FromSoftware that Armored Core 6 has done so well, and it sounds like it's going be a big boon for the series going forward.

Armored Core 6, just like the majority of FromSoftware's titles, is a pretty depressing game at the best of times. Almost everyone in the game is using you to further their own cause, and you're more than happy to take their credits so you can strap another laser rifle to your shoulder. That's probably why when V.IV Rusty shows up to help you out in the mission Operation Wallclimber, most of you are immediately smitten by his charm.
