Welcome to yet another week of my unique brand of platform non-specific savings. Basically, if it's a great discount on a game or thing worth a look, it's going in the mix! Cases in point: some brilliant deals on CoDs past and soon-to-be-present, crazy Nintendo Store drops on AAAs, and a bunch of PC titles gone lower than ever. The big one in that last bunch: a nutso Borderlands collection that has, well, everything in it.

Gearbox’s latest bundle for the looter shooter series Borderlands is available now on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box features the first three mainline titles, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Tales from the Borderlands and New Tales from the Borderlands. The Star Wars galaxy far, far away continues to expand on Disney Plus right now as Ahsoka is finally being given her very own live-action spotlight. The show named after the dual-wielding Jedi is three episodes deep right now, and if you can't get enough of Ahsoka, Secretlab has teamed up with Lucasfilm and created a rather unique way you can showcase your fandom for the latest addition to the on-screen live-action Star Wars canon.

The Leftfield Collection is always one of my favourite areas to visit at EGX. Partly because it's regularly stuffed full of interesting indie games with often very neat and unusual controllers attached to them (which in previous years have included actual paper shredders and full-on Morse code machines), but also because they're often so new and hot off the digital presses that I've never even heard of them before, which is very, very exciting to me. It's a great little space to discover what will be the next talking points of video games-to-be, and this year's line-up looks to be no exception. Here are all the games you'll be able to play at this year's Leftfield Collection at EGX 2023.

Squishmallows are incredibly popular right now, and the officially licensed Pokemon squishmallows are the most popular of all. There aren't all that many Pokemon squishmallows available so far. The collection launched with four Pokemon to choose from, and two more went up for pre-order, and likely sold out almost immediately, not too long ago. Pokemon isn't hanging around though and has already announced which two 'mons will be getting the squishmallow treatment next.

Gearbox's Borderlands series is readying for a busy few months; a six-game digital-only Borderlands bundle is coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC tomorrow, 1st September, and Borderlands 3 will be making its Switch debut on 6th October.

2K Games and Gearbox have announced that they’ll be packing the entire Borderlands saga together in the Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box. This collection packs in all six of the base games (including the adventure titles) as well as all their add-on content. The pack will be available September 1st, 2023.

Following its rating by the Film and Publication Board of South Africa, Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced the Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box. It releases on September 1st for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

It is a collection including the following six titles and all of their add-on content: Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Tales from the Borderlands, Borderlands 3, and New Tales from the Borderlands. It will launch on September 1. While it will normally be priced at $149.99, it will be available at a limited time launch discount price of $59.99.

Starfield is the biggest thing in the world of gaming these days, with its release imminent. If you’re pumped for the game, why not pick up some Starfield apparel? Grab your barrels, because Arc System Works pumped out a new trailer for Double Dragon Collection. The six-pack of classic beat ’em ups is coming to Asia as a physical release on Switch, and you can see a flurry of fists in the overview trailer.

Despite the PS5 being Sony’s flagship format these days, its previous generation console the PS4 continues to receive robust software support from most major publishers. It’s perhaps not a gigantic surprise that Konami has committed to releasing its retro compilation Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 on the decade-old device then.

Update (22nd August 2023): Publisher Konami has clarified the frame rate and resolution for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. In a statement issued to IGN, the company says the compilation has a 1080p, 60 frames-per-second «target» on all platforms (except Nintendo Switch). This means we can expect 1080p and 60fps on PS5 and PS4. It won't be reaching a nice and crisp 4K resolution, then, but it'll at least be better than the purported 720p.

Valis: The Fantasm Soldier Collection III will launch for Switch on December 7 in Japan for 8,580 yen, Edia announced.

Edia has launched a Makuake crowdfunding campaign seeking 3 million yen (approx. $20,700) to fund the release of Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2 for Switch. It is planned for release sometime after December 2023 in Japan.

The dream of owning the first Metal Gear games in one location will soon come to fruition with the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection. Now, a new platform is getting on on the action. In addition to current-gen consoles and PC, Konami announced plans to bring the first volume of the Metal Gear Solid bundle to PlayStation 4.

In scenes reminiscent of a convoluted codec conversation, Konami has been tying itself up in knots about what exactly players can expect from Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1. It's now issued a statement to VGC clarifying the target spec for the games is 1080p and 60FPS on PC, following erroneous reports (based on what Konami reps said) that the games would be running at lower resolutions and framerates.

Konami has confirmed to VGC that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 targets 1080p and 60 FPS on all platforms except Nintendo Switch. It follows reports from hands-on previews about Metal Gear Solid 2 and3 from the collection running in 720p resolution. Unfortunately, this means no 4K resolution option for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 has a notable disclaimer that the press took notice off when Konami shared previews with the press earlier last week.

The Metal Gear Solid franchise, featuring quite a few odd quirks especially of their time, are filled with insane plot lines and some rather risqué content. To counter this, in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 release, Konami will be adding a content warning to the opening of every game, as spotted by Gamesradar.

Whether in the incest themes in Otacon's backstory or the series' overall leering approach to women, Metal Gear Solid is no stranger to controversy. Noting this, Konami has seen fit to include a content warning in the opening of each of the major games in the collection, which include Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3 as well as versions of the original 8-bit games.

PS4 owners, rejoice! Konami announced today that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is also coming to PS4.

With Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 set to launch in a little over a couple of months, Konami has started releasing new details on the collection, with a PS4 version having been announced, alongside confirmation from the company that Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 will both still be running in 720p. Additionally, gameplay footage has now also been released to offer glimpses of what the collection’s contents will look like.

Konami's announcement of Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Vol. 1 was both long-awaited and arrived with a few eyebrow-raising details. It won't just include Metal Gear Solid 1 through 3, for example, but the earlier 2D games: including the non-canon game Kojima wasn't involved in and apparently dislikes. The PC version's Steam listing also popped up with the unwelcome news that the games would not include mouse and keyboard support, which seems rather bizarre (especially as there exists an old PC version of MGS which does have keyboard controls).

After an ESRB listing emerged for the same, Konami has officially confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is coming to PS4. Unlike the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch versions, which release in October, its release date is still “to be determined.” Details for the same, along with the price, will be revealed later.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 seems to have left everything from the original games intact, but comes with a warning that some of the content may be "considered outdated" to modern audiences. The game advises "player discretion", clearly feeling that some aspects of the games have aged poorly.

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 run at 720p resolution, just like in the HD Collection, confirmed Nintendo Life, who spoke to a Konami representative and followed up with the publisher afterwards.

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 clearly wants to be the definitive collection that every Metal Gear fan is going to want and, well, so far so good based on what I’ve played. What Konami has packed in here for 60 bucks – so many amazing Metal Gear games, and some spectacular fan service extras – has left a heck of a first impression after my two hours spent playing it.

Frog Detective, developer Worm Club's trilogy of endearingly daft sleuthing adventures, is making the leap to consoles — specifically PlayStation, Switch, Xbox (including Game Pass) — later this year, in the three-game collection appropriatley called The Entire Mystery.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 sneaks onto PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam on Oct. 24. Konami’sMaster Collection brings together the first Metal Gear Solid for the PS1, its two PS2 sequels, Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater, in addition to the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear: Snake’s Revenge and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

Later this year, long-suffering Metal Gear fans will soon be able to dive back into a number of the series’ classic offerings thanks to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. Interestingly enough, in fact, it seems it might be coming to more platforms than what Konami has specifically confirmed so far.

And, to celebrate its arrival, it will be free for all players who claim it on their Epic Games Store account between July 27 and August 3. Previously the collection was only available on Steam, where it has over 10,000 reviews and a “Very Positive” consensus.
