Assassin’s Creed fans might still be waiting for Ubisoft to reveal more about the next major franchise installment, Assassin’s Creed Red. Still, something new is available now if you own Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The latest installment for the franchise has been around for a little while now, and chances are you have already completed the game. Just last month, we saw a New Game Plus mode being added into the mix. However, this latest update brings a mode that should really challenge your assassin skills.

Ubisoft will release Title Update 1.0.7 for Assassin’s Creed Mirage on February 20th at 4 AM PT. It adds the long-awaited permadeath mode, Full Synchronization Challenge. As “the ultimate test of your assassin skills,” players will desynchronize if protagonist Basim dies or does anything illegal, even traversing outside permitted locations.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s delayed permadeath mode will be introduced as part of the game’s next title update.

Sony has announced the latest lineup of games coming to their PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers this February. Subscribers can look forward to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Need for Speed Unbound, four different entries in Bandai Namco’s Tales series, including the most recent Tales of Arise, and more. Premium subscribers have some things to look forward to as well, including newly-enhanced releases of Resistance: Retribution and Jet Moto 2.

PlayStation Plus will have a whole bunch of new games to play in February — among them are The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, Need for Speed Unbound, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. These games (and others) will become accessible to subscribers across three different tiers on Feb. 20.

February’s Game Catalog lineup for PlayStation Plus brings together racing thrills, sci-fi adventure and a selection of entries from a classic RPG series. Take to the streets in Need for Speed Unbound, blast off into space in The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, then experience some acclaimed RPG fantasy action in the Tales of… series. These and many more titles are playable from February 20. Let’s take a closer look at each game in turn. 

Ubisoft has reported their earnings for the third quarter of their fiscal year 2024 (which runs from the beginning of April 2023 to the end of March 2024) and things are looking somewhat up for the Assassin’s Creed publisher following rough patches over the last few years. With revenue of €606 million, Q3 was down a bit year-on-year, likely due to somewhat disappointing performance of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but Ubisoft is expecting a good Q4 due to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Skull and Bones with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot somewhat questionably referring to the latter as a “AAAA” game.

Ubisoft has stated that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be released by the end of March 2025.

Ubisoft released its third quarter fiscal year 2024 sales report and confirmed that titles like Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Star Wars Outlaws will launch between April 21st, 2024 and March 31st, 2025. Fans can expect the line-up, which includes The Division Resurgence and Rainbow Six Mobile, to be revealed in May.

In November, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise made the jump to virtual reality with Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, an action-adventure title touting the series’ trademark stealth and parkour mechanics, translated to a VR experience. And though the game certainly received solid reviews (currently sitting at a Metacritic score of 78), that doesn’t seem to have led to solid sales.

Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot has called Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR sales “disappointing”, and stated that the publisher will not be investing too heavily on VR for now.

Development on the rumored Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake might very well have kicked off late last year.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla does something different in comparison to the other games in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise — it deemphasizes stealth. It’s something Eivor, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s main character, states outright when she declines to conceal her assassin’s blade under her cloak. She wants her enemies to know what’s coming. It makes sense for Valhalla to be the Assassin’s Creed game that deviates from the well-established loop of tedious, precise stealth-based missions that Ubisoft has relied on with the series since its inception. This game is a Viking game, and Vikings aren’t known for their subtlety; in Valhalla, Eivor has her not-so-hidden blade, yes, but also an ax or heavy broadsword.

The first games coming to during January 2024 have been revealed as we enter into the new year. Due to the small number of new releases over the next couple of weeks, the list consists of older games, including some that are returning to the service for another stint.

There are some solid additions for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to enjoy as we kick off 2024. With the headliners of the month being Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2.

Xbox have revealed their first haul of games headed to PC Game Pass in 2024, and there are some corkers. Among the selection is one of - if not the - best horror games ever made, a whopping Assassin’s Creed that ranks as one of the better entries in the series and some other interesting picks, too. Microsoft has announced the first batch of titles coming to Game Pass in January 2024, and there are some heavy hitters. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla arrives on January 9th, while Capcom’sResident Evil 2 is available on January 16th. Both titles will be playable on consoles, cloud and PC.

Ubisoft announced recently that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s New Game Plus mode would be arriving sometime this week, and the company has announced a firm release timing for it. Title Update 1.0.6 for the open world action-adventure title will roll out later today, at 12 PM UTC (under twenty minutes from now), and it will add New Game Plus.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has received its latest free update, version 1.0.6, which includes its promised New Game Plus mode.

Ubisoft confirmed last month that it would be adding New Game Plus and a Permadeath mode to Assassin’s Creed Mirage with a free update in December, but it seems those plans have been slightly tweaked. While New Game Plus is arriving as scheduled, Permadeath mode will be added a little later.

Here’s a career progression you probably haven’t encountered before: actor to game studio founder. But that’s just the path that Abubakar Salim has taken. The 30-year-old British actor is best known in gaming circles as Bayek from Assassin’s Creed Origins (he has also appeared in Raised by Wolves and Napoleon, and will be in the second season of House of the Dragon). And now he has founded Surgent Studios to make a game that’s extremely personal to him.

Perhaps the most underrated entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, is free on PC through December 6. Those interested in living out the life of an Assassin in London during the Industrial Revolution can do so at the Syndicate giveaway page. As long as you claim your free copy before December 6, you will be able to play even after the promotion ends. Unfortunately, it looks like the promotion is only available on PC via the Ubisoft Connect launcher.

Its Black Friday sale ends on November 29th, but Ubisoft has something special for PC players. From now until December 6th, 5 AM PST, they can claim Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for free. It’s only for the PC version, and the Ubisoft Connect app is required to play it.

When it comes to free PC games, there is typically an Epic Games Store that we look towards each week. The digital storefront offers a wide range of games you can claim a copy of weekly. Best of all, it’s yours forever, just as long as you claim a copy of the game during the week it’s being offered. However, today, we’re finding out that Ubisoft is looking to provide players with a free title to enjoy. You can start claiming a copy of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate this week. Of course, this is through Ubisoft Connect, so you’ll have to set up an account if you don’t already have one established. 

Ubisoft is currently giving away the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.

As per a Reddit video posted by u/triddell24, they stumbled upon an advertisement when toggling open the world map, filling the screen with a dismissible banner for Assassin's Creed Mirage, currently available at a 20 percent discount. Clicking the ‘Buy Now' button would presumably redirect to the store page for Mirage. Players online have understandable expressed their disappointment over the in-game advertisement that interferes with gameplay. Publisher Ubisoft has since apologised for the pop-up, in addition to stating it was a ‘technical error.'

Ubisoft’s Montreal and Quebec studios have traditionally been the lead developers on most mainline Assassin’s Creed titles, but the company has occasionally pulled in other teams to work on instalments as well. Recently, Ubisoft Bordeaux – which also developed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s first expansion, Wrath of the Druids – released its first instalment in the series with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and it looks like its association with the property isn’t done just yet.

Popular game publisher Ubisoft came under fire recently, after some gamers experienced a mid-game full-screen pop-up ad that showed up on Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Some of them took to Reddit and shared their findings, which led to many gaming enthusiasts calling out the publisher for compromising the gaming experience of users. While it is not rare to see ads in games, they usually appear on the title screen and not once the game has started. Now, Ubisoft has come out and claimed that the incident was caused by a technical error and was not intentional.

Ubisoft has released a statement regarding players reporting that Assassin’s Creed games have started displaying advertisements for Ubisoft’s Black Friday sale. The company has taken to social media platform X to release its statement, referring to the ads being shown in games as a “technical error”, echoing an earlier statement released to The Verge.

Ubisoft Bordeaux was formed in 2017, and initially, this was a support team that aided in various game projects. However, it was with Assassin’s Creed Mirage that we saw what the developers could pull off. That project was initially pitched as a DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla before it was given the green light to turn into a full game. However, since that game was released, some fans might have wondered if there were more Assassin’s Creed video games coming from the team. While we don’t know everything the studio might be working on, we at least know there’s a new lead writer attached.

Recently, it was reported that ads for Ubisoft’s Black Friday sale had started popping up in-game for some players playing older Assassin’s Creed titles, which, as you might imagine, sparked the ire of many in the community.

It’s common for a publisher like Ubisoft to advertise sales and DLC within existing products. Boot up Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and you’ll be greeted with tiles on the main menu for purchasing additional content and premium items. However, what if an obnoxious full-page ad appeared while playing?

PlayStation launched its annual Black Friday Sale, late last week, offering discounts of up to 70 percent on key titles on the PS4 and PS5. The promotion is live across some first, but largely third-party releases, and is slated to end November 28 on the digital storefront. God of War Ragnarök is a standout among the catalogue, available at a 38 percent discount for Rs. 3,099, tasking Kratos and Atreus on a journey to the Nine Realms to prevent the prophesied apocalypse. When the central fiction of your series revolves around inserting yourself into a machine and experiencing someone else’s life, few franchises could lend themselves as seamlessly to VR as Assassin’s Creed. While the Meta Quest isn’t quite like an Animus, Ubisoft has drawn upon its VR tech – and enhanced it for the pumped-up Quest 3 – to get you closer than ever to experience the life of Ezio Auditore and his brethren. If you’re a fan of the series, you should be very excited.

Good news for those Assassin’s Creed fans who’ve already finished Mirage - a far more accomplishable task than in the series’ last few games - and are itching to dive back into the streets of ninth-century Baghdad for a fresh challenge: New Game Plus will arrive for free next month, along with a punishing new permadeath mode.

Not to be harsh, but I was never fond of Assassin's Creed's little detour into the endless open world meta in recent years. A series that was once lauded for its clinical stealth-based killings had slowly morphed into a reckless RPG with greater emphasis on quest hoarding, gear system, and heavy-handed combat. The new Assassin Creed games carried such little resemblance to the early titles in the franchise that if Ubisoft were to strategically rebrand it, no one would raise questions. Sure, they fared well commercially, but with time, the formula got stale and a desperate need for a refresh was never more apparent. And so, the studio's solution is to revisit its glory days and create a familiar Assassin's Creed experience that caters to loyalists by turning a once-destined AC Valhalla DLC into a standalone experience — a throwback set in the dusty but vibrant locale of ninth-century Baghdad.

Ubisoft has a number of Assassin’s Creed games in the works, several of which are trying new things that the franchise hasn’t dabbled much with much in the past. Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, for instance, represents the series’ first foray into virtual reality, and the game is now available on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro headsets. Assassin’s Creed recently launched a brand new installment into the marketplace this past month. With Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the developers returned to the more classic style of Assassin’s Creed gameplay. It’s a smaller storyline and doesn’t feature the massive open-world exploration that some of the previous RPG releases contained. So, chances are you’ve already finished the game and are waiting for something new to enjoy. Assassin's Creed Red, the next entry in the series by Ubisoft set in Feudal Japan, is going to take some pages from the books of a few FromSoftware games, according to a new online report.

Ubisoft has laid off more than 100 staff, continuing what feels like an unending wave of layoffs across the video games industry. The latest job losses spanning visual effects and IT departments come less than six months after the Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six publisher made dozens of custom service staff redundant.

The latest update for Assassin’s Creed Mirage is all about fixing bugs and improving your gaming experience. From general fixes to quest enhancements and visual improvements, this update addresses various issues, making the game more enjoyable. It also brings stability improvements, audio enhancements, and more.

Ubisoft has announced that the next Title Update for Assassin’s Creed Mirage goes live on November 7th at 4 AM PT. Its size ranges from 2.83 GB on PS5 to 5.79 GB on PS4 and includes several bug fixes, visual improvements and more. There’s also an option to turn Chromatic Aberration on or off.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise’s historical settings have always been the franchise’s backbones, but it hasn’t quite enjoyed the same sort of success with its modern-day story, which has often been criticized by players for being too convolution, or simply not engaging enough. However, with the next game in the series, Ubisoft might be looking to shake things up on that front in intriguing fashion.

Assassin's Creed Red's female protagonist has seemingly leaked online. As per Eurogamer, Ubisoft writer Pierre Boudreau inadvertently set his LinkedIn header image to feature the unnamed lead, who is seen wearing the iconic hooded cloak against a red background, while wielding a katana. The original photo featuring the signature logo has since been replaced with an image of Eivor, Assassin's Creed Valhalla's protagonist. This aligns with the studio's own claims from a 2022 presentation, where it confirmed that players will be sent into feudal Japan for its upcoming instalment, which is said to revisit open-world RPG elements.

From what we've seen of Assassins Creed Codename Red, we know we're looking at a Feudal Japanese backdrop and some exciting new characters. Leaks have pointed to the potential of a choice between two playable female characters, one of which is a Samurai. And with one of the game's writers having just plastered their Linkedin page with imagery of a female character wielding a katana, the rumours are only getting stronger.

Ubisoft has a few franchises that they hold onto closely. One of the franchises that continue to see new installments released and teams consistently working on the next project is Assassin’s Creed. The franchise has just seen a recent release into the marketplace this month with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Fortunately, if you’re a fan of the IP, then you know that there are a few other projects in the works, including a title called Assassin’s Creed: Hexe. It’s a codenamed project right now, but a new data mine uncovered a tease for the project that was supposedly set to take place after finishing the campaign of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

I’ll admit I entered my hands-on demo with Assassin’s Creed Nexus with a bit of pessimism – could Assassin’s Creed work as a first-person VR game? And then I found myself repeatedly answering that key question with “Yes!” for an entire hour. Not only does Assassin’s Creed Nexus seem to be a full-featured Assassin’s Creed game that incorporates stealth, combat, and parkour, but from what I played so far, each of those pieces works surprisingly well and comes together to capture the entire assassin fantasy with shocking efficacy. I brought a lot of skepticism onto that demo floor, but by the time I left it I was grinning ear-to-ear.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launched earlier this month, delivering a smaller and more condensed experience in line with older Assassin’s Creed game, but for those who’re waiting for the Ubisoft franchise’s next big flagship release, there’s Assassin’s Creed Codename Red to look forward to. Developed primarily by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Syndicate studio Ubisoft Quebec, though it doesn’t yet have an official release date (or even an official name), it seems like it could be coming out sometime next year.

However, there are consistent methods of finding them, if players know where to look as they traverse the city of Baghdad.

Qabiha is a clever woman, and the Palace is well protected when Basim seeks to infiltrate it. Doing so without getting caught will be easier said than done, and once inside the Palace, it is quite challenging to leave it without being followed by every Guard in the vicinity.
