Spare a thought for any game attempting to compete with GTA 6 today. It can't be easy when big hitters like that inevitably suck all the air out the room, but bless the folks at Hollow Ponds for poking their heads above the 4K flamingo parapet anyway by releasing a lovely new demo for their upcoming critter collect 'em up Flock today. I've just been giving it a go over lunch, and it is truly a very relaxing way to decompress after a morning of poring over GTA gubbins.
Assassin’s Creed Unity Looks Amazing With Complete Ray Tracing in New 8K Resolution Video

Despite having been released almost ten years ago, Assassin's Creed Unity is among the best looking entries in the series, and its visuals reach new heights with some mods, as showcased by a new video shared online today.
The new 8K resolution video, which was put together by DigitalDreams, shows the game running with a selection of mods, including the Complete Ray Tracing shader by NiceGuy, one of the most advanced screen space ray tracing shaders that lets users add global illumination with effects like Diffuse Illumination and Specular Reflection, ambient occlusion and glossy reflections to any title using Reshade. While it isn't real ray tracing, it gets very close, as seen in the video below.
At launch, Assassin's Creed Unity was universally panned due to its many issues, but over time, Ubisoft released multiple patches that fixed the game's most glaring issues, and its perception improved considerably, especially following Ubisoft's donation of €500,000 to help restore Notre-Dame after a massive fire damaged it.
The series has changed a lot since the days of Assassin's Creed Unity, but this year, the Ubisoft franchise went back to its roots with Assassin's Creed Mirage, doing away with the RPG mechanics introduced in AC Origin to present an enjoyable adventure, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage doesn’t make the sharpest first impression with its dated visuals and by-the-book mechanics, but like its hooded protagonist, the game sneaks up on you with its manageably-sized yet vibrant map, intricately-woven campaign, and varied missions. Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s blade may be slightly tarnished, but it still leaves a mark.
Assassin's Creed Unity is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
