Here are your PS Plus Extra headliners for February…
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PS4, PS5)
From Wccftech’s review – “Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a definite step up for the series, thanks to the many tweaks made to the RPG mechanics that powered the previous two entries in the series, better storytelling, great atmosphere, and meaningful side-content. Even with the tweaks, however, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is still an Assassin's Creed game at heart, so those who are not into the Ubisoft open-world game design will hardly change their opinion with the game. Everyone else will probably love every second of Eivor's adventure, especially if they are into Vikings and ancient Norse culture.”
Tales of Arise (PS4, PS5)
From Wccftech’s review – “With its engaging story, dark atmosphere, charming characters, and excellent combat, Tales of Arise provides an experience that feels both new and familiar at the same time, making for a game that both long-time fans and newcomers will enjoy. While the excessive linearity and the removal of multiplayer will disappoint some, the pros far outweigh the cons, making Tales of Arise one of the best entries in the series to date.”
Need for Speed Unbound (PS5)
From Wccftech’s review – “Need for Speed Unbound is the franchise’s best entry in a decade, although the competition for that title wasn't particularly stiff. The game offers polished tech, good (if slightly dated) open-world design, and a varied array of events and challenges, but still lags behind the current open-world racer pack leaders. The fantasy of becoming an underground racing champ is also hampered by a restrictive, ill-considered progression system. Nostalgic fans will find plenty to like here, and more general players might want to consider a test drive once the game is marked down, but ‘need’ may be a strong word to attach to Criterion’s latest.”
Here are the other games available to PS Plus Extra subscribers this month:
The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition (PS5)
Lego Worlds (PS4)
Lego Jurassic World (PS4)
Roguebook (PS4, PS5)
Rogue Lords (PS4)
Tales of Zestiria (PS4)

Microsoft has revealed the titles they’ll be adding to Xbox Game Pass on PC and consoles in early-to-mid March, and there’s a decent array of stuff to choose from. The headliner is Sony’s own MLB The Show 24, and as in the past couple years, Xbox owners actually get a better deal on the game (it won’t be on PS Plus on Day 1). Those who buy the Digital Deluxe Add-on can even get in on the MLB The Show 24 early access period via Game Pass. Subscribers can also look forward to a few more solid options, includng Control Ultimate Edition, No More Heroes 3, a little SpongeBob SquarePants action, and more.

Every month brings a fresh batch of PlayStation Plus games like clockwork, and the service is expanding its library as always in March. As a subscription that provides access to online play on Sony systems, PS Plus is a must for many dedicated PlayStation users. For those who aren't committed to regular multiplayer, PS Plus finds its other major point of attraction in a rotating catalog of free games for subscribers that are available to download for a month and to play as long as an account that's already added them has an active subscription.
WWE 2K24 will be launching with over 200 names, but, as usual, the game will also have a season pass that adds a number of additional superstars to the roster. The season pass will include some major recent additions to the WWE roster, including CM Punk, Jade Cargill, Nia Jax, and Kairi Sane, as well as some legends including Diamond Dallas Page, Lex Luger, and the Iron Sheik. Oh, and you’ll also be able to play as Post Malone, because sure, why not?
Since being announced back in 2021, there have been a lot of questions about what Assassin’s Creed Infinity would even be. We've known Infinity would be a hub of sorts that connects other Assassin’s Creed experiences and includes online elements, but beyond that, things have remained sketchy. Well, we now have some more details from insider Tom Henderson, who has a very good track record when it comes to all things Ubisoft. According to Henderson, he’s laid eyes on demo footage of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, and, surprise surprise, it sounds like it will be a heavily live-service-focused product.
The former NPD Group (now named “Circana”) has released its full North American sales data for January, and it seems like it was a pretty solid month for the industry, although direct comparisons are difficult because five weeks, including the first few days of February (up until February 3 to be exact) were reported on this time around. Regardless, players spent $5.1 billion on games, additional content, and hardware in January and early February. The PlayStation 5 was the #1 console as usual, with Nintendo and Microsoft battling it out for second place honors – Switch was #2 in unit sales, while Xbox Series X/S was #2 in dollar sales.
The classic PlayStation Portable-era shooter Resistance: Retribution has received trophies as part of an update bringing it to Sony's PS Plus Premium Classics catalog. Part of the PlayStation-exclusive Resistance sci-fi series, Resistance: Retribution is the second game in the series to become playable on PS4 and PS5, after Resistance 3.
Microsoft has revealed the titles they’ll be adding to Xbox Game Pass on PC and consoles in late February and very early March, and it’s a varied lineup. Madden NFL 24 released on Game Pass earlier this month, but now it can be played via the cloud. Players can also look forward to Bandai Namco RPG Tales of Arise, Warhammer 40K: Bolt Gun, and more. Of course, if you have kids, your Xbox will likely be monopolized by them playing Bluey: The Video Game.
Sony adds new games to PS Plus Extra and Premium on the third Tuesday every month, meaning fans are now able to claim a handful of games scattered across the service. Namely, this means PS Plus Extra subscribers can now claim 9 new games, while PS Plus Premium subscribers can claim all of that and then 4 more on top of that, including the classic PSP game Resistance: Retribution.
Criterion Games surprised fans by announcing another year of support for Need for Speed Unbound, 2022's installment in the racing game series. It's partly due to Need for Speed celebrating its 30th anniversary, they said.
The batch of fresh additions coming to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium in February have just been revealed by Sony. As usual, there's a good number of new titles joining the party, with 13 in total going live in their respective tiers come 20th February, 2024.
