Assassin’s Creed Infinity Will Reportedly Push Live Services with AC Red; AC Hexe Drops 2026

Confession time: I already have a copy of Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for the PS5 even though I still don't have a PlayStation 5 console. I never get consoles the moment they come out and usually wait a few years for their next version. In the PlayStation 5's case, I thought it was going to be the PS5 Slim, but it looks like I could have another option by the end of the year: The PlayStation 5 Pro. Minecraft dropped its latest update earlier this week, but those playing on PC may want to avoid downloading it. Mojang is warning that those who update Minecraft via the Xbox app on PC may have their worlds wiped. Mojang recommends running the Gaming Services Repair Tool for PC on the Xbox App before downloading the latest update, but until an actual fix is released, I’d remain wary. For now, automatic updates through the PC Xbox App have been disabled by Mojang as a preventive measure.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint was a bit of a dumpster fire, and Ghost Recon Frontline got cancelled in response to widespread backlash against its core premise, so the last few years have definitely been rough for the Ghost Recon franchise. Even so, though a new game hasn’t yet been officially announced, it seems safe to assume, given the magnitude of the franchise, that Ubisoft does have plans for a new game in the series. Now, a report published by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has shed light on alleged details about that next instalment.

It seems like the gaming industry, at least the traditional console-driven industry, is rapidly approaching some sort of inflection point. Xbox is bringing more of their games to other platforms, amid consistent speculation they may be stepping back from the console business, and PlayStation is hinting they may pursue a more aggressive PC release schedule even as PS5 sales continue to outpace the PS4. Meanwhile, one publisher after another announces deep layoffs and cancellations.

Back in late 2020 new Montreal-based studio Reflector Entertainment made a bit of splash when they revealed Unknown 9: Awakening at The Game Awards. The game’s reveal cinematic was very impressive, and next-gen consoles had just launched, so there was some hope that this was perhaps what we could expect from the new generation (sadly, not quite). Reflector also had ambitious plans for a full Unknown 9 multimedia universe with novels, comics, and more announced. Annnd then we didn’t really hear anything further about Unknown 9 for years, to the point many suspected it was vaporware.

2019’s The Sinking City was a solid entry in the growing catalogue of Lovecraft-inspired horror and adventure games, which later became better-known for the bitter legal battle over the game between developer Frogwares and publisher Nacon. Frogwares was ultimately successful in that battle, and today during the latest Xbox Partner Preview showcase, they announced The Sinking City 2 is on the way.

We’ve already had an unusual number of showcases and announcements this year, and it seems this particular train is going to keep right on rolling. Today Microsoft announced an Xbox Partner Preview, which will showcase over a dozen trailers for games coming to PC, Xbox, and/or Game Pass.

A number of gameplay details about Assassin's Creed Red have emerged online, having been outlined in a new report from a credible industry insider. Among many other things, the leaked information suggests that the upcoming game will completely overhaul the Assassin's Creed series' parkour system, which is something that hasn't been done in about a decade.

2024 is set to be a pretty big year for RPGs, with the likes of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and Avowed all queued up to launch, but what about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf? There have been a number of hints that BioWare’s latest may be nearing completion, but when might we actually get our hands on it?

Embracer Group gobbled up a lot of studios during its 2020-era spending spree, but perhaps the biggest acquisitions were Saber Interactive (World War Z, many, many ports) and Gearbox Software (Borderlands). It’s clear Embracer had big plans for Saber and Gearbox, as both were spun into entire company divisions with other smaller studios reporting to them, but those plans have changed – Embracer’s fortunes took a turn when a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia fell through and the company has been desperately cutting costs since. Apparently, this means two of their crown jewels have to go.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is all about decadence and riding slick cars around its urban Hong Kong environment, or, at least, that’s what it’s mostly about. There actually is a more wild side to Hong Kong and during today’s Nacon Connect showcase we got a new trailer for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown which shows off the game’s grittier offroad side and some of its heavier vehicles, including trucks, SUVs, and more.
