Having had a few days to sit with the news that Larian Studios, creators of 2023's breakout RPG, Baldur's Gate 3, has scrapped plans for DLC and will not be developing the inevitable next game in the series, we can't help but feel the move was a deeply-baller one. Going out on the highest possible note, outdoing even BioWare's iconic earlier entries, it's time to move on for Larian, and we'll gladly follow. Parent company Hasbro, however, wasted no time, threatening still-in-shock audiences that more D&D games are on the way: «Watch this space.»

Helldivers 2 players have reported encountering unsanctioned Super Earth weaponry and equipment in the wild since the game first launched. Almost immediately, players were running into mechs, vehicles, and even an incredibly cool-looking armoured personnel carrier (APC), all thought to be part of Game Master Joel's plan, or at least the testing process. But a new report suggests we might be dealing with a Joel imposter, some unknown individual or individuals masquerading as an Arrowhead developer, with the skills required to get around the game's defences.

IStellar Blade is a hotly anticipated PS5 exclusive launching in late April, and it already seems set for success, possessing some indefinable quality that makes us think it will sell like gangbusters. Don't Nod, once the developer best known for the quirky adventure game Life is Strange, has seven games in development, four of which remain unannounced. With releases like Vampyr and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden under its belt (and more on the way), it's clear that the company has larger publishing ambitions, wants to become a real player in a specific economic space, and is reorganizing accordingly.

Dragon's Dogma 2 continues to be the gift that keeps giving, with players reporting overnight the discovery of how to use the many catapults trebuchets (and ballista) left scattered around Capcom's reactive game world (though some are clearly destroyed). Even more exciting, the power and torque of these beautiful machines of siege warfare, reputedly able to launch 90kg projectiles over 300 meters in reality, can be used to smash open previously undiscovered secret areas in the game.

The developers behind Broken Roads have confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version of the game has been canceled. Drop Bear Bytes recently gave players an update regarding its upcoming turn-based, post-apocalyptic game Broken Roads, confirming that it will not be brought over to the Nintendo Switch. Broken Roads was intended to launch on the Switch alongside PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on April 10, 2024, but there now appears to be no plans to bring the game to the Nintendo console. Broken Roads will also be launching on PC through the Epic Games Store, Steam, and GOG.

As the April 8 total solar eclipse draws near, sky gazers prepare for an astronomical display that promises not only a captivating display of darkness but also the potential for witnessing rare solar phenomena. For those fortunate enough to be in the path of totality, a brief period of darkness, known as totality, will offer a unique opportunity to observe the sun's corona without the need for solar eclipse glasses.

Swen Vincke, director of Baldur's Gate 3 and founder of developer Larian Studios, used the opportunity afforded by winning big at the Game Developer's Conference (GDC) to blame the industry's current state on rampant corporate greed, a sentiment we can get behind. The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, announced on Friday that the International Astronomical Union (IAU) has honored renowned Indian astrophysicist Prof Jayant Murthy by naming an asteroid after him. The asteroid, previously designated as "2005 EX296," has now been officially named "(215884) Jayantmurthy" by the IAU's Working Group on Small Bodies Nomenclature. Positioned between Mars and Jupiter, the asteroid completes one orbit around the Sun every 3.3 years.

When Capcom told IGN that performance issues with the PC version of Dragon's Dogma 2 were likely due to how much CPU the game's more than 1000 unique NPCs demand, NPCs which can be killed off permanently, they probably should have anticipated what was always going to happen next. The community, wasting no time, has already begun to cobble together a kill list.

Being a Vanillaware title, the recently released (and excellent) strategy RPG Unicorn Overlord bears immediate resemblance to the Japanese developer's previous outings, like Muramasa: Rebirth, Dragon's Crown, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. In November last year, the Australian post-apocalyptic CRPG Broken Roads was abruptly delayed mere days before it was meant to come out. Review code had even been sent out to press. But it was clear that the game needed more time in the oven, as developers Drop Bear Bytes acknowledged they needed "additional polish time and QA manpower" to test the "thousands of permutations" available in its deeply decision-driven storyline. Happily, that polish time has now come to an end, as the devs have today announced a fresh release date of April 10th.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being released worldwide today.

During its latest Campfire Chat livestream for Diablo 4, Blizzard revealed that its first Public Test Realm for the title would go live on April 2nd for PC players. Servers will be available until April 9th for North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Korea/Japan, and Australia, allowing players to try out the long-awaited loot overhaul.
