If you're itching to get your hands on the sweeping overhauls to itemization and the new crafting system as soon as possible, you'll need to join in on participating in Diablo 4's first Public Test Realm! The PTR is available from April 2nd to April 9th to PC players only, either through the Battle.net Launcher itself or though Xbox PC Game Pass.

The first Public Test Realm (PTR) for Diablo IV is on the horizon, offering you the chance to test upcoming changes and features for Season 4! PTR will be available from April 2 through April 9 for players with a PC Battle.net account.
The purpose of the PTR is to test updates and features alongside you before the launch of Season 4. Then we’ll take your feedback from PTR to make adjustments to Season 4 before it goes live for everyone. Your experience in Sanctuary is shaking up in a big way.
We will have servers for PTR in our largest regions: North America, Europe, Korea and Japan, South America, and Australia. Once you log-in through Battle Net, your account will carry over the following account-based progress:
As so many of the changes apply to the endgame, the following features will be offered:
Some things will be missing intentionally so we can test the flows we want to keep an eye on, and the Codex of Power won’t be fully unlocked.

Many players in the Diablo community have expressed their fondness for the Tree of Whispers as a «town hub», even if it is not considered a town by conventional means. The Diablo 4 Patch 1.4.0 PTR added a Jeweler NPC to the Tree of Whispers, making the hub even more useful now! Wowhead community member krismate has found changes to The Lost City of Ureh area during their visit on the Diablo 4 PTR, which was previously blocked off. We have made our way to the Lost CIty of Ureh and compared the changes from the live servers to the PTR, including everything that got added to the area. Diablo 4's new public test realm has come just at the right time, improving the mood of the RPG's community greatly as Season 4 appears on the horizon.
Blizzard has added new skill tags for many class skills in order to interact with the new itemization. They also added existing skill tags to multiple skills to open up new possibilities by adding the Core tag to various skills such as Ball Lightning and Bone Spirit. These changes should allow for a greater variety of skill interactions, both with each other and with the new gear and affixes that have been introduced.
Blizzard has hotfixed the PTR for Diablo 4, allowing new characters to skip the campaign without completing the prologue first. The most highly-requested feature of the PTR so far, Blizzard stated earlier today that they were working on deploying a fix. Players should now be able to immediately skip the campaign upon creating a new character.
The first Public Test Realm for Diablo 4 is now available for play. This PTR will be testing the features and content of Patch 1.4.0, including class changes, a new crafting system, Codex of Power changes, and much more.
