It’s rumored that Sega has planned three more revivals, specifically for Neon Genesis Evangelion, Sakura Wars, and Panzer Dragoon. At The Game Awards 2023, Sega surprised fans with revivals of several classic IPs. These revivals are part of a new initiative by Sega to re-imagine these older properties and bring them to new audiences.

Sega has been a massive name in the game industry for years. Even after the company stopped making its own consoles, we’ve continued to see both new IPs and classic franchises make a return. However, some franchises that Sega owns haven’t had a chance in the limelight in quite a few years. But that doesn’t mean they are down the count. It was just last month that we got the big reveal from Sega. If you don’t recall, during The Game Awards for 2023, a trailer dropped from Sega showcasing that several of their classic IPs are getting reimagined and released for modern platforms. 

Nintendo has been slowly beefing up its library of games available to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. 

At The Game Awards last month, Sega announced that it was working on reboots for five of its classic franchises in Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and Golden Axe, and ended the bumper trailer with a tease of more similar projects coming in the future. Now, a report published by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has potentially revealed more details on those projects in particular.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s PC version will feature support for Nvidia’s DLSS 3 at launch, Nvidia announced as part of its recent CES 2024 presentation (where it also confirmed DLSS 3 support for Dragon’s Dogma 2 andHorizon Forbidden West). If Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is going to be your entry point into the Like a Dragon series (formerly known as Yakuza), first of all, welcome. You’ll probably have a good time. However, I implore you to consider playing its predecessor, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, before moving on to the newer release. While you could certainly still enjoy Infinite Wealth without playing Like a Dragon, it lays the groundwork to get the most out of the latest entry in one of gaming’s most entertaining franchises, introducing you to delightful characters and a bizarre world where you’ll be asked to save people stranded without toilet paper in public restrooms and fight a tiger with your bare hands. And it’s also on Game Pass, which never hurts.

Persona is one of the most stylish video game series around, which means it's a pleasure just to watch the games in action whether in one of its lushly animated cutscenes or during its in-game combat and dialogue. Persona 3 was no exception and its imminent remake Persona 3 Reload seems only to be pushing it into the modern era.

Hard to believe after playing two new Like A Dragon games in 2023, there's an even bigger installment launching before the end of January 2024. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth brings the long-running series to th US after Kazuma Ichiban washes up naked on a Hawaiian beach. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio was quite active in 2023 with the releases of Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, while the studio is also gearing up for the imminent launch of the series’ next mainline instalment in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. As you may have guessed, however, there’s plenty more in the pipeline as well- some of which we’ll be hearing about in the coming months.

It’s not enough that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth has Dondoko Island, arcade games, randomly arranged dungeons and numerous other activities, but there’s also Sujimon. The Pokemon-like activity involves capturing Sujimon throughout Hawaii, training them and fighting in 3v3 battles.

Not content with aping Animal Crossing in its off-the-wall island building minigame, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will also add a Pokémon-inspired experience to its ever-expanding list of things to do. Sujimon, as its known, will see you collecting eclectic characters from all around Hawaii, and training them to create the ultimate team. Your goal is to dethrone the existing champions of the Sujimon battle world: the Discreet Four and the Sujimon Master.

The trailer, rather than focusing on some of the more action-packed moments of the game, instead focuses on more mundane, everyday thing that players will find themselves doing as they play through the story. The official website for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, RGG Studio’s next mainline entry for the franchise, has been updated with new details. It discusses the Dungeons that players will venture to, both in Hawaii and Yokohama, which serve as “the strongholds of various ruffians” (translation via DeepL).

SEGA’s excellent Yakuza series is well-known for its minigames, but Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth looks to seriously expand upon the expectations of fans with an unprecedented number of side-activities and distractions. Chief among them is the inclusion of some fairly famous Model 3 arcade games, including SEGA Bass Fishing, SpikeOut, and Virtua Fighter 3tb. These are brand new ports, and it’s the first time SpikeOut has been playable on console since an iffy Xbox spin-off almost 20 years ago.

Developer Creative Assembly has released a statement regarding recent negative feedback concerning the pricing for Total War: PHARAOH, as well as the Shadows of Change DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's roster of minigames sound just as whacky as I'd hoped.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has shared some new details on Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, specifically the minigames that players can indulge in. It already showcased Crazy Delivery and Dondoko Island, but there’s also Miss Match, an app that protagonist Ichiban Kasuga can use for matchmaking.

On paper, 1995’s Cool Riders sounds great. It was the follow-up to 1993’s Outrunners, which itself was a multiplayer follow-up to 1986’s Out Run. Only this time, it’s on motorized bikes. Then you see it, and you realize Cool Riders is one of the least cool games to exist.
