January was a big month for major new game releases, and several of them have debuted high in the latest monthly charts for video game software sales in the US, released by Circana (formerly the NPD Group). Sonic Dream Team has released its first post-launch update, fixing boss fights and introducing brand-new mission types. Sonic Dream Team is an Apple Arcade exclusive title that was released in December 2023, developed by Sega HARDlight. While HARDlight was responsible for a number of previous Sonic mobile games, like Sonic Forces: Speed Battle and Sonic Dash, Dream Team is the first full 3D platformer the studio worked on, featuring six playable characters and 12 levels across four zones.

One of the unannounced games currently in development at Atlus has the codename XRD792, a well-known leaker has said. Although the purported designation is fairly nondescript, it matches with Atlus's established code-naming practices, consequently offering one concrete clue about the mysterious project.

For a system that's often been painted as the console that killed Sega's hardware market, the Sega Dreamcast certainly managed to rustle up an excellent library of games. There was never really anything wrong with the experience of actually playing a Dreamcast — and there was a lot that was genuinely great about it — but decisions surrounding its price and release and the unstoppable hype for the PlayStation 2 doomed it to comparative failure.
