A developer from Sega has suggested the upcoming Crazy Taxi reboot is bigger than most might have expected, calling it a AAA game. During The Game Awards 2023, Sega announced that Crazy Taxi and several other classic IPs from the publisher were all getting brand-new entries. A trailer at the event gave brief snippets of these reboots' gameplay, with the Crazy Taxi reboot retaining its cartoonish art style and objective of delivering passengers to their destination quickly using drifts, crazy jumps, and other maneuvers to earn a high score.
Details about these games have been rather light, though Sega briefly outlined what to expect from the Crazy Taxi reboot, stating that players will be driving around Crazy City, and that it would be a «fusion of nature and city.» While not much has been given about these games, a Sega executive has indicated the possible scope of the upcoming Crazy Taxi reboot.
In an interview with The Japan Times and Sega executive Takaya Segawa, he states that the Sapporo studio is supporting a number of titles in development. Sega opened up a new studio in Sapporo back in 2022, with Takaya Segawa (chief producer of Sega's Phantasy Star Online 2) becoming its President and CEO. When asked about what titles the Sapporo studio is assisting Sega with, he mentions that they are participating in the development of AAA games, including Crazy Taxi. «We’re responsible for titles such as Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis and Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! in cooperation with the bases in Tokyo and overseas,» Segawa says. «We are also participating in the development of Triple-A titles, including Crazy Taxi.»
Crazy Taxi being a AAA game likely means not only a bigger budget, but it could be bigger in scope than just a simple remaster or remake of the arcade classic, though it might be difficult to pull off. For reference, the original Crazy Taxi games were arcade games first, meaning the goal was to get the most points before time ran out, rather than exploring a narrative or completing a level. While the console versions of Crazy Taxi added things like mini-games or alternate modes, Crazy Taxi's core gameplay was meant to be played in short bursts.

Earlier this month, a Sega leaker gave more details on the Crazy Taxi revival, stating that there actually will be two games instead of just one. One will be a remake, while the other will be a reboot with online elements, with one of them targeting a 2027 release. Connecting this leak and Segawa's comment

While Mario has become the face of Nintendo, and perhaps video games as a whole, it’s important to remember that it was in a Donkey Kong game that he really became an icon. Since then, our beloved ape has bounced between being friend and foe of the plumber, as well as broken free to star in his own series of games with an expanded cast of friends and enemies. It’s been a long time since we’ve been graced with one of his banana-fueled adventures, so we decided this was as good a time as any to look back at Dinkey Kong’s legacy and decide which of his many solo efforts stand as the best.
In January, NVIDIA unveiled that it would start offering GeForce Now day passes for gamers, and after a short wait, they're now available starting at $3.99 per day. Here's what you need to know.

On paper, Saint Maud and Love Lies Bleeding don't sound like they have very much in common. Other than both being directed by Rose Glass, the former is a quiet horror-esque tale about a nurse who slowly loses her grip on reality after a terrible workplace accident, while the former is a violent, '80s-set romance-thriller packed full of synth-pop anthems.
Age of Mythology: Retold has been confirmed for a day-one release on Microsoft's consoles, whose owners will be able to play it via Xbox Game Pass or purchase it digitally. This development marks a notable improvement in how Microsoft's first-party RTS games approach consoles, which have previously been more of an afterthought for them, with that strategy standing in stark contrast to most other types of Xbox Game Pass releases.
The League of Legends fighting game has been re-revealed with a brand-new title, 2XKO, with the developers providing fans with a potential release window for next year. This League of Legends-branded fighting game was first revealed in 2019 as Project L, alongside Legends of Runeterra and the animated Arcane series as a way to expand the IP into different genres and mediums. Among the projects in development at Riot Games, Project L has had a somewhat rocky production.

A glance at the top 10 richest people in the world shows tech leaders, from Elon Musk to Bill Gates, are still on top.
The Souls games, or whatever umbrella you want to put all of FromSoftware's action RPGs under, collectively redefined an entire genre and literally defined a new one in the form of Soulslikes. So it is immensely amusing to hear creative director and studio boss Hidetaka Miyazaki describe this success, in an interview with Eurogamer, as: "Players seem to enjoy our games."
The PlayStation 5 is expected to get a mid-generation refresh with an upcoming PS5 Pro, but based on rumored release plans, it sounds like the hardware could be dropping at a terrible time. The PS5 has been a strong seller since its launch, with component shortages initially leading to a long period of supply issues that seemingly only served to increase the demand. More recently, a revised Slim model trimmed the size and unified the disc-based and digital versions of the console, making the disc drive a modular component that requires an initial online activation.
