Much like in the rest of the Persona games, Persona 5 Tactica stars a cast of students who are the Phantom Thieves and includes a silent protagonist, of whom players get to choose the dialogue.
Persona has a long history of games, starting as far back as 1996, which means that there is a lot of history, which leaves room for inside jokes. This is a double-edged sword in favour of the game.

The game doesn’t spend much time introducing the characters at the start, assuming you have played a previous Persona game and won’t need an introduction. It makes it difficult to understand what’s happening right at the start, but if you stick around, it’s worth it.
On the other hand, if you don’t know the inside jokes, Persona 5 Tactica doesn’t make you feel bad about it. There are dialogue options for new and old players, and it’s easy to get into the game because it’s basically hosted in a whole new Metaverse.
That being said, it’s also an inspiration to go back and play other games so that you know what everyone else is talking about, so that’s a great marketing strategy from SEGA and P-Studio to get you to play their other games.

As a person who doesn’t generally pick up a turn-based tactical game, I found Persona 5 Tactica extremely addicting. As the story progresses, you will easily find yourself just wanting to go onto the next stage and wanting to talk to the characters inside Leblanc. P5T makes it far too easy to happily move on to the next combat stage in the best way possible.
While the story’s progression and combat make the game addictive, so does wanting to be the best possible. I want to complete stages perfectly, earn enough currency to level your characters and have the best weapons possible. The incentive to keep going, and sometimes to go back and get the best you can, is powerful. It drives you to keep repeating certain levels until it is perfectly completed.
Additionally, the sound and music of combat, boss battles and sequences in Persona 5 Tactica is great, hyping you up to play and making the tactical combat a lot more fun.
